Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme £340.75 (~AU $602) Now Also Expired

EDIT: As pw2002au pointed out, Amazon only charges you when it delivers the item. If the pound recovers and Amazon hasn't shipped it yet, it's a good idea to cancel your order.

For back order items don't they wait to charge you till its in stock? There is a small risk of the pound recovering if so.

    • Hmmm true, never took that into consideration. Maybe cancel your order if the pound starts recovering.

    • I'm not sure, but if you use Amazons Currency conversion where it mentions the price in AUD you will be paying. Could that be a way of securing the exchange rate at this very moment.

I'm also aware Amazons currency conversion isn't as good as paying in GBP and letting your card do the conversion. But if the exchange rate shifts dramatically the wrong way. It might be a way of securing today's rate :). Although a bit of a gamble. Maybe the rate will get better.

I realise this deal has expired, but I'd thought I'd mention that an Amazon rep confirmed to me that whichever price you opt for will be the one that is charged when the item becomes avaiable, whether it's AUD or GBP.

        • I had a feeling that might be the case.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions :)

        • Thanks. I guess you either lock in a bad conversion fee through amazon or hope that the GBP doesnt fluctuate too much.

An alternative is to buy up an Amazon UK gift card to redeem onto the account right now which means you lock in the exchange rate. When it comes to Amazon when you make the item order too it automatically reserves the amount ordered from the gift card funds too but if you cancel the order it returns the money back to the gift card balance.

Amazon UK gift cards can be bought here. I suggest using the e-mail or print at home options for instant gift cards. You then just redeem the gift card numbers onto your account to go to the gift card balance, and then you'll be set.

      https://www.amazon.co.uk/Giftcards-Giftvouchers-Vouchers-Bir…

That's a way of getting around it since as i said you lock in the current exchange rate when buying the gift card. I bet a lot of people didn't think of that.

Except that if the GBP goes down a lot more in the future you will be kicking yourself..

        • And if the GBP gains ground a lot more you'll also be kicking yourself.

Almost the cheapest 1070 I've seen so far. Zotac is probably worth the extra 11 bucks as well.

  • Price: £409.00
This is for the 1070, price has gone up…?

    • +1

      VAT removed at checkout

      • ah yes, i see that now. thanks

  • Been refreshing the page and the 1080 GTX seems to be jumping from "£575.78" & "£621.78" and back but that price includes VAT (Sales Tax). I assume the price listed above is for when the item is "£575.78" inc VAT.

    • yikes, Amazon raised the price.

For 1070gtx, evga one may be better,
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-08G-P4-6173-KR-GeForce-Supercl…
for $1 more, come with 3 three years international warranty.

    • +1

I'm getting £356.62 after delivery for evga, which is £15.87 (~$28) more?

      • +2

zotac 1070 was £389.00 when OP post, but it is £409 now on Amazon uk, £340.75 after removing vat, evga one is £341.50 after vat, delivery is same.

  • love to buy this, cant afford it…may have to do with a 1060

I currently have a AMD 380X would, it be worth the upgrade to GTX 1060?

    • +1

maybe not, I'd say less than 20% performance improvement if gtx 1060 bit over RX480. Anyway better check out when 1060 comes out.

    • I agree, not worthwhile upgrade. Unless you can sell your 380x and get some good money back on it.

  • How much is postage for you guys? I end up with the following:

    Order Summary
    Items: GBP 340.83
    Postage & Packing: GBP 16.58
    Total before VAT: GBP 357.41
    VAT: GBP 0.00
    (Order Total: GBP 357.41)
    Payment Total: AUD 657.40

Am I getting shafted with the conversion rate? I don't have a 28 degrees card.

    • +1

Nope you didn't get shafted by the conversion rate, you got shafted by Amazon who raised the price :(

      • Oh so it was $340 GBP before inc. postage? damn.. on the other hand I am fighting a battle with myself not to buy one of these and just wait for nitro RX480 or GTX 1060 heh.

        • Yeah it was somewhere around 320 gbp + postage.

You can get a very similar GTX 1080 even cheaper here, approx $930 AUD courier delivered. And it's in stock:

    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inno3d-geforce-gtx-1080-hercu…

    • +1

$930 delivered is not cheaper than the $879 delivered of this deal….

Since this deal is expired now, you can get an EVGA for just under $900 delivered here.

  • The 1070 seems to be available for order again, price has increased a few pence though :)

  • These card are selling higher than retail price. Amazing, there is much demand out there.

    • +2

      Demand or artificial limited supply?

      • Not sure. Anything more than the retail price could only benefits the re-seller and not so much for the manufacturer.

  • £389 was very cheap for an upper tier 1070. I actually had this on preorder for a few days and it came to $606 when all was said and done. Only cancelled it this morning when I managed to get a Gigabyte G1 Gaming version for $591. I believe these are as cheap as it'll get for mid-upper tier aftermarket 1070s for a long long time

    • +4

How did you get that price? :O

      • +1

Has been $591 in this deal and has occasionally gone in and out of stock since I think.

        • Yep. Arriving on the 18th

  • That backplate is off putting, hope a strix deal strikes up

  • +2

    Zotac…when Zoidberg eats tic tac.

  • +2

Peoples. Since it was on backorder and how they don't charge the credit card until it's back in stock and ships. You could have been buying up an Amazon UK gift card (e-mail or print at home) for the value of the order and then apply it to the account gift card balance since you get today's current exchange rate doing so since it's a gift card purchase. And when making the order it immediately reserves the order amount from the gift card balance. You can't lose!.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Giftcards-Giftvouchers-Vouchers-Bir…

Why didn't any body think of that?. You could have saved quite a bit of money especially if the $AUD value tanks against the GBP while the item is still on backorder.

    • that is a really good point, and I think it's worth posting as a deal by itself. thoughts?

      • -1

Well buying a gift card isn't really a deal. This is more of a trick.

        • +1

Yes it's a trick to lock in the current currency exchange rate if you plan to order a back-ordered item right now. Only down side is if the Australian dollar gains ground over the British pound later on but it could easily go the other way with the pound recovering.

  • I've returned Zotac cards too many times (3x). Never touching them again.

    • They don't even sell in AU. Must hate our consumer laws.

  • -1

Zotac, sounds like the proton pump inhibiting drug Zoton. (In case you are wondering, they lower stomach acidity and are useful for treating reflux and ulcers).

  • Anyone with an order still pending stock, if you click the product link in you order, does it now go to the AMP (non extreme) edition?

    • OK looks like they may have changed it back now after I made an enquiry, still waiting for the official response though.
