Pediwear Shoe Centre is a small, friendly, family run business which began in Halifax (UK) in 1976.

Our web site was set up in 1998 ahead of many of our competitors. Online customers enjoy detailed and prompt responses to their enquiries as well as to Shoe Orders. However, it is the fact that we successfully compete with huge organisations on Shoe Prices and Delivery Prices that is giving Pediwear a growing reputation for Value as well as for the family business tradition of personal service.

Use the FATHER10 code for 10% off total order.

Take advantage of the depreciated pound for maximum savings.

Bought a couple of nice Ettinger wallets from them, and am so far very satisfied with their quality. For those who have an eye for quality, check out their shoes, as they are usually made in England. Sure they will never be Hush Puppies.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2016.

Don't get your vowels mixed up..

    • Have I made a mistake somewhere? Ill fix it up if I have.

      • Not sure if whoooshhh or…

        • Sorry mate. English isn't my strong point.

  • $368 for shoes is not a deal I can use.

    • Give it some time for the shock to settle in. Initially I thought; which maniac would buy these when you can have Hush Puppies/Julius Marlow for a third of the price or less.

Then I got given a pair of old Loakes, and now I am hooked. Quality really sells!

Great company and a good deal with the pound the way it is. Ordered a couple of pairs of loakes 4 years ago and have only had to have one re-soled, wear that pair 2-3 times a week. In terms of work/formal shoes, these and a pair of RMs I bought at the same time were the last shoes I bought, used to go through 2 pairs a year.

These are not average shoes, they're goodyear welted and thus made to last for years (decades?). Most of the shoes on the site are handmade in England. They should be seen as equivalent to, or better than, RM Williams. Depending on how you wear and treat them, you may end up saving a decent amount of money.

But don't just take my word for it, the late great Terry Pratchett explained the theory much better (in Men at Arms):

'The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that’d still be keeping his feet dry in ten years’ time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes ‘Boots’ theory of socioeconomic unfairness.'

It's a shame that Loake doesn't allow parallel imports now. I've had my loakes (1880s) resoled once, and they are great shoes. It probably works out cheaper buying a good pair of shoes and resoling them (I pay $90 from a really good guy in Redfern) when they wear out.

Highly recommended pediwear - I've bought countless shoes from them (C&J, Tricker's, Carmina, etc) with no issues

  • Also recommend pediwear - but as noted above a pity Loakes cannot be imported anymore through them.

    Great service and prices.
