Thanks OP, passed on a few of these, but not this time.

Will do nicely as another steam volume SSD

    cheers

  • Had ~1tb ever been In $200 region?

    • its been close in USD, but unfortunately coinciding with the weak AUD-USD forex means no.

    • +1

      250$ yes.

If our dollar was strong again could b picking up 1tbs ssds for $150.

The 850 Evo would still be the best choice even at a higher price.

Sandisk Random IO and 4k mixed isn't great. 850 evo is 1000% better. 2.7MB/s vs 34MB/s

      Depends on usage for me.

I'd be choosing the Evo for a system drive over this for example but I'd struggle with paying more if it was for games.

    • +2

Difference in real world usage is negligible, unless you're someone who can buy the 850 EVO or just wants "the best of the best".

  • Amazon Germany have some really cheap prices on the 850 Evo at the moment - got an email from them about it earlier tonight.

    • Can't be shipped to Oz. just tried

      • Ahh, pity. I didn't get as far as checking that - I have a friend who works for parcel post in Germany and can send me stuff for free. Means I pay VAT, though.

  • Can we have read write speed posted alone with any ssd deal in the future? I know quick google search will do, but some ppl are on the phone..

Do your own due diligence if the specs aren't posted and if they are posted you will want to check them. Why can't you check yourself on a smartphone?

      • Because more and more sites decide to be helpful when they detect you're browsing with a smart phone and give you garbage instead of a functional website, a large portion of them don't even respect the "request desktop version" feature proper browsers have.

Besides, people don't seem to mind posting specs for everything else, why not ssds? :p

    • +1

Not a bad idea. For every mobile phone, LED UHD TV, Android TV deal people are willing to post the specs. Why not SSD's?

Everyone will still do due diligence, just helps newbies, opens discussion and makes this site a great community forum!

Or you could just, you know, help yourself in the first instance and stop demanding more from a community that is already functioning well with the status quo of current effort put into these deals…

  • Great price, I can now ditch my last HDD and never look back.

  • Has anyone received theirs? Mine had a 'problem with shipping resolved' shown in tracking and they claim to have delivered it yesterday…
