    • what dates did you choose to get that price?

    • Yeah I couldn't get any, mine showed as $224 each way without taxes, in Jan 2011. I suspect I was a little too late.

  • 2 free seats GC - Kl Feb.WooHoo!!!
You should see what else I am dreaming about…..

  • Quick Poll: Should I go to bed?

    • Yes, if you live in the eastern states

      • :( going to be wrecked at uni tomorrow

  • yes. i am giving up at 3

  • KL to HKG $52 per person, is that cheap?

    • Nothing special, but OK

    • cheapest kul to hkg i have got before is MYR50, around AUD17 bout 2 years ago. But i don't think those cheap fares would ever appear again. imo, $52 is worth going, u won't find cheaper elsewhere.

  • is this whole promotion thingy supposed to make us want to fly air asia?

  • great, now all the prices are showing up as regular

  • finally got through to the end and the total price was 620 return to kl, what a joke. Time for bed

  • Free seats - KL to Kota Kinablu - $15 for two people one way inc taxes and luggage

  • wohoooooooooo….confirmed…MEL-KUL and KUL-MEL for $260 roundtrip for travel date dep 20 feb and return 9 march….for bkk and hanoi i'll do it tmrw….&(^&^(& still got test in the morning and i havent studied yet………hint: just keep reloading the page guys

  • KL to Bali for $46.00 two people one way inc taxes

  • Am I doing something wrong?

Everytime I choose a flight MEL-KUL the cheapest I get is 196 exc taxes for travel 5 Jan - 3 Feb

I tried the dates that someone else posted of 20 Feb - 9 Mar and I can't get any cheaper than 976 return for 2 people

    • personally I could get anything decent from 3/1 to 26/2 so that whay i ended up with $300 Return April 11 - 22nd

  • Well that was painful but after REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH, on every section of the booking, have confirmed $300 Return MEL-KL April 11 arrival - 22 return. Not free but still pre happy

    • Also just got $0 fare from KL to Phuket return!

  • Still couldn't find any free tickets from GC to KL, wtf? on all dates. I have had much easier time buying these back last year and the year before. Do most of u who got it pick on weekdays and also avoid mon and Fri?

    • Yes I agree. I think a couple of years ago less people knew about Air Asia, but two years on it's different. They have 250,000 people who are fans on their facebook page.

  • Phew! $240 Mel-Kul return. Still waiting on the next leg (looks to be much cheaper.)

    Not bad………

    • that's $0 fare? I have yet to see a $0 ticket air fare yet on anything from GC to KL and KL to Hong Kong. On most of the dates in Apr and Mar.

  • I think they let AirAsia credit card holders buy sale tickets one day early, hence sometimes the best seats are gone before the general sale begins!

  • Gonna have another crack at the Asian sections tomorrow.

    Good night!

  • $300 Return MEL-KL April 11 arrival - 22 return

It appeared as $AUS 56 (to KL) and $AUS 106 (to Mel) and when I added meals and extra luggage on the way back it worked out at $330 per person.

It took a lot of refresh, and I entered my details probably three times. Also took 1.5 hours to complete.

But as per usual Ozbargain has come up trumps and I am happy with a holiday now booked for a years time.

    • you may not know that $149(one way) was their "regular promotion", the previous sale(about few weeks ago) was similar, around $300+meal+luggage return!!

this so called "FREE" sale is just another regular sale!!! (you get some free flight from KL to asia)
oh boys……I missed the old days where return flights from AUS-KL was only $200-

      :-(

      • do they have promotions regularly?

  • +1

For anyone still yet to book, it works out cheaper if you book your return leg seperately and pay in Malaysian Ringit. Got Mel->KL Return for $200 last night (129+70) though have not paid for food & Baggage yet. Those are also cheaper in ringit.
Thats all provided you dont get charged too much for international transactions by your bank, I find my AMEX has a lot less charges.

Got Melb>KL>London return for $800 last night, 2 hours, a million refresh clicks but Im happy. More expensive than the 686 I paid last time but still an awesome price

    • Should add that those dates were in March. Better to go when it starts to warm up a little.

    • is it $200 incl taxes??

    • what date did you book?
i'm looking to book KUL-MEL 3feb, but cant find any sale fares?

      • Dates were March 10th return April 1.

        Prices were $56 = $129 inc taxes
        Return 130 MYR = 199MYR inc taxes roughly $70

  • hi, can anyone please help me out?
how do i get to the sale fares?
do i just book as normal, or is the a certain link to goto?
i can't seem to find any sale fares.
    looking at travel KUL-MEL 3Feb

    • You need to go to the AirAsia website and put in the date. A cheap fare is around $56 - $106 Aus for KL - Melb. If it shows fares higher than that, then the cheap sale fares for that particular flight has been sold already and it is showing the normal fares.

      • thanks.
i was trying for 2 hours since it started, but no sale fare =(

  • I wonder if anyone managed to get any sale fares KUL-MEL in Feb? I couldn't find any sale fares in Feb for that route since last night, so it seems like 1-Mar is the earliest date you can get a sale tix to return to Melbourne.

  • Ok got Melb > K.L Mar 10 K.L > Melb Mar 29 $260 return
    K.L > Hong Kong $35 one way
    Beijing > K.L $$60 one way
There from 2am to 6am finally done last night.
All include Taxes but none include meals or luagge (yet, will modify it later).
These are all in March and it seems as through there is alot of options in March/April but not Jan/Feb so if you cheap like me and can be flexible go later.

Now I got a question for you guys…anyone know the best way to get from Hong Kong to Beijing? since AA doesn't fly there…

    • we are planning to take the train from HKG to PEK

    • as fuped said, train is the good option, you can stop at shenzhen, shanghai etc or go all the way… check out http://www.seat61.com/China.htm for the rail info…

alternately… just fly back from hk to kl then kl to beijing (tianjin)… with these rates its cheaper to do that than fly hk to beijing via dragonair or china southern airlines

  • I cant even get past the search flight page if/when im lucky enough to get onto it. mobile site doesnt even load now. ah well.

  • I managed to get a return to Bali from Perth for $193 ($54 each way, +$75 tax/charges, +$10 "convenience" fee) in early Feb.

Still, would like to have made more bookings but the website is borked. On another booking I got through every step including CC confirmation but the final booking confirmation page wouldn't load (and my CC hasn't been charged, so it didn't go through).

  • whats a good price for KL to London? I'm getting 674 MYR ex taxes each way…thats 5th mar till 16th apr though.

    • That's about $470 AUS return. Seems pretty good to me. I don't think you can get a return ticket from Australia to London return for under a $1000.

      • just spent days trying to get it through and total it'll be about 1100 bucks. Tax at london is what kills it, 567 MYR. That also doesnt include my flight from syd to mel. Not quite the 800 someone quoted before. I think I'd rather pay more for a full fare airline and not have to stuff around with flights to melbourne, a nights accomm at KL airport and just the whole ordeal.
That all said I got an awesome deal to vietnam in the last sale so not knocking airasia in any way. Best of luck guys. What a waste of a day haha.

  • Anyone get decent priced tickets from Melb to KL during Jan or Feb? I got super excited when I saw "free seats". :(

  • Can anyone let me know if they have flown with Air Asia and whether they think they are safe? Do they have new planes? Is the service OK?

    Cheers :)

    • mnay times now. no problems what so ever. if you've been with jetstar or tiger its the same deal but with asians

    • i was very impressed with air asia, thinking about it now, i don't recall noticing any difference between any other carrier that i have flown (which is not heaps)

as for the planes, i have no idea how to tell how old one is, but inside they looked new enough.

      • the only thing with AirAsiaX I didn't like were their 'slouch' only, no reclining seats. But I read they are refurbing all the older A330's with normal reclining seats again, so should be completed by years end at least!

    • Yeah I've flown with AirAsia both from Australia and through out Asia. I think they are great however their seats are very small. I don't know if I could manage to do their KL to London flight. Might be alittle long for me. Think I would spend the money and lash out at the full service airlines. Staff are friendly.

Their planes look new to me, however you may want to look into this yourself as looks don't really mean anything in regards to safety I guess.

If you want something cheap than AirAsia is great, but I must say myself it is always nice when you have the dosh to lash out on an full service airline. Nothing beats that!

    • I love Air Asia.
Domestically Virgin is my favourite, mainly due to service, internationally if you can afford it and it is on your route, Emirates is numero uno, but as for cheap flights, quality service and a feeling of safety and comfort, Air Asia is number one.
I have flown a few discount airlines around south east asia, and Air Asia is streets ahead!
      You should not be disappointed.
I'm 185cm, but have never felt squashed on a flight, although to London may be pushing it.
Also, the budget terminal at KL isn't too bad if you have a couple of hours stop-over, won't have any trouble killing time.

      • absolutely, if you can afford it, take the emirates flight to london via dubai - amazing! i reckon you probably could do air asia to london if you remembered to get up and walk around every few hours so you dont get uncomfortable - that and take along some good books/magazines and a fully charged, stocked full of games ipod touch or iphone.

Yes kl budget terminal (LCCT) has plenty to eat etc and if you have more than a few hours there is a shuttle (i forget which company) which takes you over to the 'normal' airport aka KUL to kill time which has free osim foot massagers, massage chairs and reclining lounges - the latter two being in the far corner of the airport which you wouldn't find unless you're looking for it - i think they called it the relaxation zone.

    • flown dozens of flights with them. safe, new and good service. but you have to bear in mind they are a budget airline, so i dont get why some people whinge about having to pay for the 'trimmings'. having said that, they are one of the best international budget carriers, virgin of course being the best domestic one here.

    • Here is a recent (but brief) 'flight test' : http://www.smh.com.au/travel/traveller-tips/flight-test-aira…

  • Got Mel-KL return for $559 for 2 people inc tax, luggage and meals! YEAHHHHHHHH!!!! But yeah i spend most of the night struggling - finally got through at 7am (5am Malaysia time - I knew they would go to bed eventually!) AIRASIA ROCKS!

  • I booked 3 ppl MEL-KL but was forced to pay $384 for some mandatory premium insurance which I could not figure out how to get rid of. In the end the fare was still cheap 3 adults MEL-KL for $1376 travel in March 2011.

Got free tickets KL to Ho chi minh city which after taxes and other stuff was $90 and then Hanoi back to KL was $160.

    Pretty good deal all round!

    • The good ole 'Go Insure' trick for first timers :). There is a little symbol near the fees that you can click, and then remove the insurance. Very trick of them :)

  • I booked a flight and paid by paypal. It then tried to redirect me from paypal site to the airasia site, but came up buzz buzz too busy. Afterward, the flight was in "manage my booking" but it said unpaid. Now the flight has disappeared from "manage my booking". I did "live chat" and was told its fine, but it doesn't seem normal to me. I definitely paid by paypal, and there is no booking in "manage my booking". Has anyone experienced anything similar or know if this is normal?

    • Hi natman. That sounds very strange indeed. Maybe it takes a day or two to show up in your booking page.

  • I love this deal it sounds great! anyone can help me please.. im new to this site.. whar wesite or link will i go..

  • i been looking fopr cheap flights from gold coast to kuala lumpur malaysia.any suggestion please

  • Finally have 5 out of my 6 legs booked.. always best to book flights during the day as it doesn't seem to crash that often then.

    Got Mel-KL, KL-Changi, Changi-Phuket, Phuket-HK, HK-KL and KL back home for $1200 return for 2 people travel 31 Jan to 27 Feb.

Found a free ticket from Phuket to Singapore and booked it before my itinerary was sorted and now it doesn't fit in with my plans. Ah well, mistake I'll learn from but I'll just think of it as an extra tax =)

    • i have been led to believe in the past that you only pay the tax if you fly the route…

dont know if that is true or not…. someone clarify?

      • The flight itself was $0, but including fees and taxes it came to around $50 when I confirmed the flight booking.

  • This deal rocks. Booked my honeymoon for next April.
Booked the following flights in the last couple of days:
Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, Langkawi to Penang, Penang to Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne.
TOTAL COST - $560 for 2 people ($280 per person), including 15kg baggage on all flights.

  • I'm having trouble figuring out how to book a flight from gold coast to hong kong or macau. When I select gold coast, the only drop down option is to fly to KL. Do I need to book each part of the journey separately? E.g. book from gold coast to KL return. And then organise a return flight from KL to hong kong/macau, within the matching time period? Seems like a lot of work to organise…

    • Yes. You have to book them all separately.
