AirAsia Return MEL-HK (Melbourne - Hong Kong) $519 @ IWTF

180

I'm travelling to HK in October (Grabbed some cheap flights via Cathay Pacific through this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250579 a few months back) and just happened to check and see what the prices have done.

Dates of travel - Thursday 20th October - Tuesday 15th November 2016 - proof https://postimg.org/image/ddtsgx4lt/622572fb/ (you can select dates within this timeframe)

$519 (with a small stopover eg. - 2hrs MEL-HK, 5hrs HK-MEL) is cheap!

Deal seems to only be from Melbourne - Tullamarine, VIC, Australia (MEL)

I'd rather be paying more for better service. AirAsia's food is horrible; would not fly again.

        • The food is trash. Came back last night and would not definitely would not fly again.

        • @madn3ss:Air Asia flight tip. Only ever order vegetarian. You'll usually get feed first. And the risk of food poisoning is reduced. Airasias vegetarian meals were fantastic when we went to KL.

The AA kids meals are disgusting.

        • @altomic: Before the flight I thought we get the option to choose once we are on board (chicken or beef etc not vegetarian) like other airlines. But no, in fact it was the same meal for return

        • @madn3ss:you need to prebook to get the best choices. You can't go too wrong with vegetarian. I found the air Asia options very good. Multiple the meal options available eg: egg free, wheat free, etc to be very good.

          Always pre-book your food.

        • I agree with paying more but I found AirAsia's food to be very good for the most part. I discovered my love of Beef Rendang through their onboard service.

    • Although I'm in agreement with you, it's important to realise that you can no longer obtain that price..

Next Full service airline for those dates are Royal Brunei at @648, MH at $710 or Qantas direct flights at 728.
(Not sure how much extra $ luggage and food these days with AirAsia, but it will be very hard to come from hkg and not bring a luggage - it's shopping heaven there).

Hey all, does anyone know if the Australian government keeps an eye on what airasia does on the flights into and out of Australia?

I am flying with them soon. I wouldn't normally worry about my plane crashing but this http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/101east/2016/07/safe-asi… popped up on my tv.

    • Queue Rainman quote.

After the nightmare dealing with this company since they cancelled the sydney to bali route trying to get refunds - never again. I have dealt with some frustrating companies before but this mob takes the cake.
