So here’s a little bit of information to help you decide on the two networks. AT&T has the largest GSM network in the United States, and even in places which are considered to be more regional you should be able to get reception. T-Mobile on the other hand is great for all the major cities and has really fast 4G LTE data but based on our experience when it comes to regional or less populated regions AT&T is the way to go.

Of course as always if you need help with anything you can contact us on our site, we’re always happy to help.

  • Great timing. Two questions:
    1) is there a date when these need to be activated by (going in Dec)
    2) is australia on the international free call list for tmobile

    • +1

      Hi pw2002au,

      1. No there isn't a date which these must be activated by. When purchasing these SIMs simply let us know when you're flying out and we'll handle the rest for you. If you're flying out in December it might be a little early to buy your SIM, we usually recommend purchasing a month before you fly out.

      2. Australian landlines are on the free call list.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

      • Just in terms of "we usually recommend purchasing a month before you fly out", would it still be safe to purchase now for a trip in late September or should I wait (and will you have a deal then?). Although if you'll still have stock at the end of July then I should be fine.

        • Hi Lunchguy,

The best option is to buy a month out. PM me a month before you fly and we'll try and give you a great deal.

        • @TravelSIMPlus: Great. Much appreciated and will do.

      • Thanks. Like getting the deals you guys have and never had a problem with your service. Will check back in Oct.

Which SIM card is best for Hawaii?

  • Hey,
Thanks for the great deal. I'm flying out mid Nov to the US. Two quick questions:

    1. What's the main difference between AT&T and T Mobile? (Edit: except for what is stated in the deal) e.g. GSM/CDMA?
    2. Also, what's the best carrier for the West Coast? (SF, LA, San Diego)

    Cheers

    • Hi Northshore,

AT&T has the larger of the two GSM networks. But in some areas T-Mobile has the faster network. AT&T usually will have coverage where T-mobile is limited. For us Aussies, the comparison would be Telstra is to AT&T, as Vodafone is to T-Mobile.

In terms of GSM and CDMA there really isn't much to compare between the two. Our SIMs operate on the GSM network, as well as most other travel SIM providers.

If you are interested in CDMA you will need to have a CDMA phone, which are not very common here as we don't use CDMA in Australia. However if you want to delve further check out Sprint and Verizon Mobile CDMA coverage maps, you will see they provide similar coverage compared to our offerings.

If you have another other questions please let us know.

SF, LA and San Diego are all major cities. In our experience the AT&T network would give you good coverage in these areas. But we recommend you check the coverage maps linked above.

  • Any deals for shorter length stays? Heading over for 10 days

    • Hi Spuderump,

We're really sorry but unfortunately not at this moment.

  • Hi OP, my spouse is going to the States early August and we will be going there again together mid September, so is there anyway to extend the expiry beyond 30 days? Thanks

    • Hi feihong,

Definitely, you can recharge these SIMs if you need more time. Although we don't sell the recharges - there are heaps of online and physical stores that can provide you with recharges. We're more then happy to help you through this if you need.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

  • Are these valid in Canada?

    • Hi dtpearson,

Wireless connectivity is not guaranteed in Canada. If you are close to the U.S border you might be able to get reception, but again we do not recommend these for Canada.

      • Do you have any other sims that work in Canada?

        • Hi Tony555,

          Unfortunately not at this moment.

  • Hi OP
Any good deal for Japan? I am going to Yokohama/Tokyo in September.
    Thanks.

    • Hi seniordoc,

Unfortunately not at the moment. We're only focusing on the U.S at the moment.

Got the base T-Mobile SIM for next ski trip, very satisfied with T-Mobile after multiple trips using then all over the mainland and Hawaii .. and buying in advance like this is way more convenient .. thank you .. :-) .. !!

    • Hi cornucopia,

      Thanks! Glad we could help.

  • Going to Hawaii in two weeks. But what's the advantage of using these instead of pick up a SIM when I get there? I assume getting a SIM there (e.g. from Walmart) would be a lot cheaper.

    • Also how long would postage take?

      • Hi yycan,

Many people find it really convenient to have a SIM ready before they head to the U.S.

All that's required is that you pop in your SIM once you land - that's it.

We ship and post within one business day, Australia Post Express is delivery next business day and 2-6 business days for registered.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

        • Thanks so much for the quick reply. I need one from 23 July and one from 11 October. Is that ok?

        • Hi yycan,

          Definitely.

        • Yycan: I bought from these guys in October. I used the sim in the USA for 8 weeks. It was really nice to get out in Honolulu and just have a phone that worked. These guys were actually cheaper than buying from T-Mobile directly. I bought my wife the same sim when we got to LA and it was more expensive than the one I bought here

        • @TravelSIMPlus: I go to a meeting for 3 hours and it's all gone?

        • Hi yycan,

Unfortunately yes, this was way more popular then we anticipated.

We will get more in soon. PM you as soon as we do.

  • Can these SIM cards be used in Canada as well?

    • Hi P Plater Panda,

We don't recommend you use these SIMs in Canada.

  • Hi doing Alaska, Vancouver and down the west coast of the USA which is best will definitely need it to work in Vancouver
Need one for early August. Thanks

    • +1

      Hi Justhooked,

We don't recommend you use these SIMs in Canada.

West Coast of USA would be fine with NET10, and Alaska is flaky with all US carriers (best option for Alaska would be NET10).
