    this is awesome..hahaha

  • +3

How much is a "short stack and drink" on a normal night?

    • +4

      Short stack is normally $12.30
For the drinks: Marshmallow Chocolate is $6.60, Coffee is $4.00 and Fizzy drink is $4.20. So you can save up to $6.90

      • +1

There's literally two for one short stack on almost every shop a docket. I've never paid $12 for a single short stack.

        • +11

Do you manage to eat two short stacks in one sitting, or would you prefer to have one with a drink?

  • +7

    VIC in title please. :)

  • +4

Man, I walked around Glen Waverley yesterday, inside Century city there was about 25 people all playing it next to the pancake parlour. Going to be really busy!

  • +2

    Seriously?!

  • +16

    Very smart marketing :)

    • +1

Just sent it to a mate who runs a cafe in Perth

  • +2

    ugh. its already begun.

    • +22

      It has only just begun.

  • +1

would go to this if there was one on the central coast, what a sweet deal

  • +8

Reload bar in Canberra has a Pokemon go party bus on Thursday. That's how far we have come as a human race.

  • +33

Pokemon has done more for childhood obesity in a week than Michelle Obama has in 8 years.

    • +8

Exactly what I was thinking! also at 10.50pm there was a swarm of more than a hundred still at local park area?!

    • +4

Pokemon GO - Helping prevent obesity and increasing the risk of head trauma since 2016.

      • +2

Is it, though? The amount of deaths and serious accidents vs the increase of people walking around.. I'd say the amount of injuries/deaths occuring correlate evenly with the population growth on the streets, regardless of what they happen to be doing.

        • +1

I was trying to make a funny but since you asked; I doubt it's having a huge impact on the number of people being injured while staring at their phones and moving about on the streets regardless of what is on the screen. This is anecdotal but I have seen plenty of people using their phones in vehicles and when crossing streets before Pokemon GO was released. I'm not trying to be high and mighty - I've changed playlists and had a quick look at an SMS while in motion on the odd occasion. I know I shouldn't and I try not to but I can't say I've never done it.

        • +2

The amount of people doing it while driving is worrying.. especially the ones going 10kph so they can incubate their eggs.

        • @Putnum: I run it while I drive home from work, cause peak hour traffic means that I'm often doing less than 20km/h which is reportedly the speed required to incubate. However I won't try and get Pokemon while driving as thats insane.
I kind of wish there was a way to stop people from being able to play while driving a car, but that would stop passengers so theres no real way.

        • @theguyrules: Harsher penalties. Using your phone while driving? 12 month license suspension.

  • +5

really? doesn't provide free battery charge?

    • +2

Surely you've picked up a deal on a powerbank by now on OzB!?!

    • +12

Congratulations? That has what to do with the bargain exactly?

  • +7

Awesome!! Need one for Sydney so I can go and look weird as a grown adult

    • Amen

  • No

  • +1

OzBargain meetup outside your favourite Pancake Parlour? :P

    • Not free

      • +1

        "Outside" is free :)

        • +11

Outside is always free, so not a deal

        • @The Land of Smeg:

Outside doesn't have 4 hour continuous lures. If say, you go to the one at Glen Waverly. Its all indoors, away from the rain and cold.

        • @The Land of Smeg:

the deal is you get free wifi to catch free pokemon from the active lure

        • @tron07: A potential saving of $6.90 off a fairly plain menu item and free Wi-Fi (which you can get almost everywhere, not to mention so many cheap Mobile/Mobile Broadband deals) just doesn't cut it for me. Sorry.

        • @tron07:
Could just use the money on your own lures

        • @Pyrock:
          I freeload other's lure.

  • +1

Free wifi is good and all, but more importantly, will they also provide free phone charging service?

    • +2

If they did that… I'm gonna open a shop up next to it renting tents and toilets.

      • +1

if you do that i'll open a stall selling camp stoves and shake'n pour pankcake mix bacon

    • I'll just bring my laptop. That's a, 8000 mah powerbank right there!

      • Yeah nah…. will drain faster than charge

  • +2

    What about QLD???

  • +6

Pity Dandenong is full of pidgy and zubats - lure won't help

    • +1

Ross Reserve in Noble Park is a gold mine

      • Probably because people are too scared to walk around noble park.

    • +1

Lures actually bring with it random chances for anything. Have caught many a rares from them inc the starter three, jynx, onyx ect

    • pidgeys are actually really good. catch as many as you can and cheaply evolve them, they are an xp landmine

  • Interesting….why do they ask for a date if it's only available on the 14th of this month anyway?

    • Good point. I took it as DOB since most of their forms also ask for this (when they verify your ID)

      • That was my initial thought. Just to cover my butt I put it as the date that this is occurring. Was expecting a rejection if a future date was also my birth date but nope it went through fine.

  • Why do people prefer catching pokemon at night than during daytime?
    Any difference?

    • +4

Yes, at night you can catch rare nocturnal pokemons.

    • +3

There is no sun, some south east Asian don't like to get a tan.

      • +1

Your name says it all ^_^

      • True… My mrs is one of them.

    • +3

some pokemon seem to only appear when its night time. some people have to go to work/uni during daytime and have free time at night time. I don't know, I personally prefer to hunt them at night time as well. Plus, less non-pokemon hunters on the street, those wandering around are most likely looking down on their phones - ie. looking for pokemon as well.

  • +1

Good luck with the server downtime presently …

  • +1

    Such a bad business idea

You will end up with a group of people buying one meal and sitting there indefinitely…..

    • in strategic marketing - is a bloody good idea that will make them a mint

    • If the Glen Waverly store is representative, then I doubt they care. Went by for lunch on a Friday. 90% of the seats were empty.

    • +1

In addition to the other replies to this comment, you're getting customers in that wouldn't normally go. I know that I wasn't planning on going to Pancake Parlour on Thursday night, and now I will for a discount meal and some PokeFun!

Better to get people in who will stay for a while as opposed to those people not coming in at all. Also notice they've strategically chosen a Thursday night. Many people have work the next day so they may not stay till midnight which may have occurred if they chose a Friday/Saturday.

  • +1

This is a brilliant marketing idea. You are getting people coming in to your store who probably wouldn't have spent money with you anyway. These people will most likely come with friends as well. If they are there long enough they will probably spend more anyway.

Lets not forget the fact that they now have their contact details so they can now market to them until the "buy or die"

As someone who works in marketing and sales, this is utterly fantastic.

Well played Pancake Parlor marketing team…well played.

    • The say see it of you want to attract customers you put a rare Pokémon j side you shop, cafe, taxi, uber, etc

  • +1

    No love for Melbourne central:(

    • They've updated the site and the Monday and Tuesday sessions now have Melbourne Central there :)

  • eh Lures are mostly good for catching common type pokemon.

    • I've found it I stick around the major sites long enough (say half an hour) where several lures are in the same vicinity, it really, really starts to pay off.

    • can lure in rares

  • +2

    ITT: People who hate fun

  • Hmm, no Chadstone or Knox? Maybe they just don't have Pokestops there.

Also I (profanity) knew they were activating lures when I was at Eastland the other day and caught a Lickitung, and they liked the photo I put on facebook of it. It's a great marketing tactic!

    • Yeah bugger no Chadstone

    • possibly because they don't have wi-fi connectivity at Knox (since it's not part of the main shopping centre)?

      • People would still come. I assume they can't keep Knox open that late, or they don't have a Pokestop there.

  • soon there will be news around how people got hit by cars/buses while trying to catch a bloody pokemon on road…

    • +1

I'm sure it's already out there - happened with Ingress so I'm sure Pokemon Go will be the same

    • +1

Kid can't watch where he's skating while playing pokemon go and becomes part of a Youtube Ultimate Fails Compilation:
      http://www.news.com.au/technology/home-entertainment/gaming/…

    • People have been using them to lure people in to be mugged

      • …and one found a dead body.

  • Darn it, those are all too far from me. Wish some of their other branches were in on the fun!

  • +1

I want to be the very best

  • Nice Try PedoBear, but I Still prefer Happy Meal and Beer

  • "Our servers are experiencing issues. Please come back later"……. fail

  • Lets hope Pancake Parlor has high level lures.. otherwise its zubats and pidgey pancakes all night

  • I've been playing games like Ingress etc for years, trying to get people into them without much success. Why has Pokemon Go suddenly become this craze?

    • +2

Because Pokemon? I would have thought that was pretty obvious.
I tried to get into Ingress at uni but I only knew 1 person playing it and it was really not that fun.
Pokemon is way better, tons of people playing it and the nostalgia value.

    • Because it's Pokemon.

Everyone knows what Pokemon are. Plus, years ago we wouldn't have dreamed of actually physically moving around and catching pokemon, now we can do so using Augmented reality.

Pokemon however only has 1/5th the features of Ingress but it's grown to be much bigger simply because it's based on a really old franchise that every 90's kid knows about.

  • All locations booked out!

  • Hopefully the servers are back online by then…otherwise…as @TransitDork posted "This will be an uneventful tram ride"

The coffee cub is owned by scientology, so no thanks. Im boycotting this

    • Coffee Club??… ??Pancake Parlour owner is a Scientology! Gloria Jean owner is hillsong follower and the Pope is Catholic.

      • Oh dam, I mean the pancake parlour is owned by scientology. Why do you all want to find them?

  • you sir are a genius
