Wesco Angle Grinder, Sander & 14.4v Cordless Drill Combo $27.30 C&C Masters (was $79)

130

Cheap power tool combo on clearance at Masters. Click and collect only. Not all stores have stock. Check the Masters website to see if your local store has any. There were several packs at the Lansdale WA store this afternoon. Chullora in Sydney was also showing stock when I checked online.

The cordless drill has a 10mm chuck and is Nicad, not Lithium. The individual items sell for $45-$49 each (definitely not worth it at that price) but this deal gets them for $9.10 each. See the comments below for a cheap drill bit set.

Previously posted at $39 in this expired deal from May by lyl here. Looks like another 30% off in this deal. Normal price is $79.

  • A basic 25pc drill bit set to go with the cordless drill is also on sale for $14.69 (note that the 11,12,13mm bits won't fit the drill in the combo)

    • Whats the quality like?

I generally find cheap drill bits expensive as they break or go blunt very quicky. Cheaper in the long run to buy some good quality Suttons.

But this is HSS so I'm tempted.

      • The finish is OK (no feathering on sharpened edges) but I haven't tried drilling in steel yet so can't comment about their durability. These are meant for odd jobs not production work.

Just bear in mind Wesco is crap quality. My circular saw broke after 6 uses. I fixed the double switch that failed, but it shouldn't fail so quickly. Not worth it, like Direct Power rubbish from Supercheapauto.

    • My Wesco 18v lithium drill is going good after a year of use. Occasionally heavy

  • nickel cadmium lol

    wesco cordless angle grinder

Excellent, I've been looking for a way to cut soft butter

    • only the drill is cordless.

Still cheap crap but grinder may be decent for a wire brush wheel or flap sanding disk instead of changing disk out of primary grinder.

Could make a power tool drag racer from the angle grinder.

        • Hope you got a few of these while they were on sale ;)

        No cordless grinder, damn!

This was going to my discount release fee from wheel clamping.

I don't like cheap tools but I reckon the angle grinder will do ok.

As long as it spins fast enough the blade will do all the cutting so you don't need a huge amount of torque for an angle grinder.

      • The angle grinder is probably the best of the bunch. Granted, these are pretty basic tools sitting at the low end of the market but should be OK for light use around the home.

  • Do not buy a nicad battery tool.

    • Why?

      • +1

The charging process is different to lithium ion. Nicad should only be charged when empty and used only when full.

If you charge them half way and use it, it has a battery memory that will memorise that point and no longer charge past that point. Now you have a 50% battery that needs replacing. And if you do it again, it will become 25% capacity and so on until it no longer becomes usable.

Lithium ion can be used at any point and charged at any point. Lithium ion is the way to go.

  • So many Power Tool deals. I regret jumping in so early and getting the Stanley set ages ago.
