LG/Google Nexus 5x, 16GB Unlocked, 4G: $266 + Shipping @ Android Enjoyed

150

Cheapest I've seen. Title self explanatory, nothing really more to say.

Came to $290 when I added shipping to Brisbane.

I like that the vendor claims to be Australian owned and that they have Australian support numbers and warranty too.

Very tempted to get one…. Should I?

Pretty poor reviews from people on whirlpool, might be worth reading - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2022913

Wow, they sound terrible. I would avoid like the plague.

    • Relevant: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256283

They should have something similar for users too. The fact they can get stock considerably cheaper consistently than anyone should spell out a few concerns.

  • +3

Avoid. Do not buy from this dodgy mob. Refer to the comments in the previous deals.

Avoid android enjoyed at all costs. Not worth any saving IMO.

    their Australian address http://www.domain.com.au/property-profile/231-blaxcell-stree…

i highly doubt anyone living there knows their house is down as a principal place of business for these guys.

    • +14

But when are you getting to the part about a Nexus 5X? 😉

      • -6

You don't see the relevance when a company that can't even soldier components on the boards of their flagship products so they don't have widespread issues with dying?

By the way they've acknowledged the fault but only committed to repairing if it's still under warranty.

Or you can just buy an LG phone and there is a good chance you can enjoy the warranty return process.

So when are you getting to the Nexus 5X part?

        • +7

          You must soldier on

          @BTRaynes:

When you buy one for me to review :)

There's a guy further down below that mentioned a relative buying a G3 from Android Enjoyed. I think you should go pester him too.

        • Half those links aren't even completely relevant to issues for your phone, but thanks for sharing your bookmarks and a teardown procedure for your phone.

Anyway, phones can have issues, but we don't boycott entire manufacturers for one model's issues. When a particular car model gets a safety recall, do we leave the brand altogether? If so there would be no one left with a car to drive…

Are there any issues that you are aware of for the phone in this deal?

        • @IceCreamBandit:

There is a good chance that a large number of LG G4 phones will experience this issue. It takes all your data with it. It took petitions and carry on before LG would acknowledge it. It's not the first phone of theirs to have issues. Go and take a look at the whirlpool forum. Many people who have bought the phone grey market are now either without a phone or waiting months shipping it back and forth. I've owned a mobile phone since 1998 and even with cheaper phones I've never had 2 of the same model die on me in 7 months.

And there are plenty of people who boycott manufacturers after being treated poorly. Cars included.

Yes, but this is a deal for the Nexus 5X, so it's somewhat off topic don't you think? The models have different specs, are built differently, so no correlation in that they may experience the same issues.

Go and take a look at the whirlpool forum.

All phones go through issues, every iPhone/iOS release people complain about their old model getting slower, it's nothing new.

Many people who have bought the phone grey market are now either without a phone or waiting months shipping it back and forth.

That's the risk of buying grey phones, nothing to do with the manufacturer. Consumers knew the risk when they were paying less for the phone.

I've owned a mobile phone since 1998 and even with cheaper phones I've never had 2 of the same model die on me in 7 months.

I've had issues with supposedly indestructible Nokia phones too. Took me until the third of the same model until issues were resolved, sometimes you just get really unlucky.

        • @IceCreamBandit:

Would you like me to point you to other models that have had similar issues with the WiFi? I haven't done a lot of research there but WiFi and Bluetooth have been problematic on other phones including the G3.

That's the risk of buying grey phones, nothing to do with the manufacturer. Consumers knew the risk when they were paying less for the phone.

If you buy a grey market phone with a design or common manufacturing flaw it's going to be an issue. If you buy one that's unlikely to break down less so. Ozbargainers I would expect to be sympathetic to trying to get a bargain this way.

In any case i have no idea why you're hammering on about this. I can only presume you have nothing better to do. If you don't think it's relevant, no doubt you've down modded me. So just move on already.

Are you going to point to the Nexus 5X? Enough people have asked for you to talk about that, as it is what this deal is about.

If you buy a grey market phone with a design or common manufacturing flaw it's going to be an issue.

That's the importer/purchaser's problem. Like I've said, consumers know the risk when going grey market, they are unlikely to have any warranty support, do you not understand this? Yes the manufacturer needs to fix it, but it's essentially in the T&C of purchasing the phone that warranty will be difficult if you buy a grey phone, manufacturers didn't force people to buy grey, that's my point.

Ozbargainers I would expect to be sympathetic to trying to get a bargain this way.

Each to their own, but if I'm going to spend a significant amount of money on an electronic device, I'd always get local stock for warranty purposes.

In any case i have no idea why you're hammering on about this. I can only presume you have nothing better to do.

Same with you, many comments later and you're still not talking about the phone in this deal…all you've managed to convey is that phones have problems, which isn't exactly a secret. Google "insert device name here" problems, and you'll get results regardless of manufacturer/model.

Dude, you're the one that started rabbiting on (with incorrect information) about boycotting car manufacturers then started going into the fine detail of grey market. I mention something and you expand on it then ask why I'm talking about it. That's irrational.

If you think there's nothing relevant to the deal here why do you keep arguing back and widening the conversation? You're trolling because you have nothing better to do. Don't keep attacking someone then asking why they're responding. MOVE ON!!!

        • +1

@syousef: No, as a follower of this conversation, you seem to be the one rabbiting on. He made a correlation to boycotting based on an example and how it's useless, you're the one that posted some stupid video by a disgruntled car buyer…

I had 11 Nokia phones replaced in 4 years, but guess what, I kept buying Nokia and so did a lot of other people at the time. So, you had one bad experience with one model phone and now you write off the company with some tirade and a page full of useless links that have little/nothing to do with the phone the post is about. Get over it, go with a different manufacturer. Your adgenda to get people to stop buying LG phones is misplaced/misguided/pointless on this site, take your pick.

          @pegaxs:

I have nothing further to add and refuse to repeat myself as you are. Waste of my time.

      • -1

As soon as you buy one for me to review :)

  • My sister in law bought an LG G3 from these guys and havnt had an issue 18 months later.

  • -2

Well I can see where the "don't buy halal" bloggers go when they run out stuff to blog about in regards to "don't buy halal"

    • -2

next time they will write 'don't buy kosher' too, since both halal and kosher have similar procedure too. nag and nag and nag ……..

      • -1

… halal and kosher have similar procedure too.

only in reference to slaughter of animals, otherwise, very different.

        • explain please. have to slaughter the animal before we cook it. no piggy/porky for both. other things?

        • @brongz:

Like I implied, there's very little in common. Anyway, kosher mammal must both chew their cud (ruminate) and have cloven hooves - it's a criteria not necessarily only applicable to pigs. Other criterias apply to other species of animals.

        • @AlexF: then you have to read more my friend;)

  • Ha! They used photos of the Nexus 5 in the description.

  • My LG G4 kicks ass. Best phone I ever got. And now it's cheap as chips.

Also, stay away from this android enjoyed mob. They dodgy as hell.

  • Can't remember whether read this on whirlpool or somewhere else. But someone referred to them as Android pre-enjoyed because they received returned or second hand stock.

Still judging by that whirlpool thread it seems they were lucky to receive anything.

    • Maybe "Android-Lament" is a more befitting name for this business?

  • +1

I bought two 32gb 5x's from Android Enjoyed (paid $341 delivered) recently with no dramas. I read some of the reviews but I take some of them with a grain of salt because there are many variables when it comes to warranty support for grey stock. The order process was easy although bank deposit was the only payment option that didn't incur further costs. I received the phones in 5 working days. The boxes were sealed and the phone were definitely brand new. I can't comment on the after sale support though.

    • Nice to know, thanks!
