  • I don't mind these for the kids gear. Cheers OP 480Gb is the one to go for apparently.

Warehouse1 have them for $86.xx+del ($16 FNQ) if you wanted local. Look into their reviews cause it may surprise before buying from them.

    • even my 9 year old sone got a 500GB, just due to the hassle of opening this laptop, and only 1 sata port, and I didn't want to have to do it again. The drives are cheap, it's installing and copying OS, etc that is time consuming and getting a bigger drive saves when you will need to do it again.

yeah depends how close to an MSY you live and if you use get the drive or some cables also…. always buy more than what I intended at MSY. And and how much local warranty is worth if you think it will break though these things are very reliable considering how many are made vs fail rather than vocal bloggers who have had failures.

Payment method and exchange rate also closes the gap in buy local or imported, but if you need posted and can wait, these deals must be a saviour for people in rural areas.

        • always buy more than what I intended at MSY.

I use MSY's "online order and pick up in branch" option, then go in with the correct amount of cash. Prevents me from buying more than I intended.

If I see a genuine bargain, like MSY sometimes do with WiFi routers, then the autoteller isn't too far away. The extra effort required to get more cash prevents impulse buys, you have time to consider if you really need the bargain.

        • @Russ: I had bad luck with MSY. I ordered a monitor online last X'mas to pick up. The order sat in the system unfulfilled, probably because they had no more stock of that model. Wasn't cancelled, just nothing happened. Naturally they don't respond to email or calls. As far as I know the order's still in their system.

I gave up and ordered from IJK and picked it a couple of days later. No more MSY online ordering for me.

        • @greenpossum:
I've had that happen too. But turning up to purchase is often no better - MSY's website is notorious for saying "in stock" when they have none. I'd rather have an online order fail, than drive all the way there and discover I've wasted my time.
