  • should i upgrade from a Dell U2711?

    • What's the difference between the two?

      • pretty much LED backlight, less grainy AG, and faster response time.

    • +1

No, keep your U2711. It's still a better class of monitor than the U2715H, which is not wide-gamut. But it depends on what you use it for of course.

      • +1

cheers, yeah i found out the U2715H is
        Color Gamut (typical): 91 % (CIE1976),
        sRGB 99% ( average Delta E of<3)
        16.78 Million colors

        VS U2711
        110% Color Gamut (typical)
        100% sRGB, 96% AdobeRGB
        1.07 billion colors

no upgrade for me. thanks Lads

  • Best price for a good monitor at this minute I believe

    Why not the U2515H ? $440.

    • More screen obviously

      • If you move the smaller one 10% closer, it looks exactly the same, no? Same pixel count.

For a lot of people, 24-25" is the sweet spot for a desktop. Its not like the home theatre room where bigger is better.

Seems like a same-quality monitor for a lower price to me.

        • +1

Actually a lot of gamers are now looking at minimum 27" monitor (preferably with 144Hz frequency). 24" just don't cut it for them anymore.

          @edfoo:
This is a serious monitor, not a toy for playing games. I thought the kids liked fast-response TN displays?

        • +1

@manic: I am talking about the screen size itself, not about type of monitors. Many people do game on this monitor, games such as Witcher 3, Rise of Tomb Raider, Fallout 4 etc where fast response rate and 144Hz are not so important for them. Kids like TN displays because they are cheaper than these IPS displays. Serious gamers have big-screen IPS 144Hz monitors such as those Acer Predator XB271HU and ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q.

        • @edfoo:
Am just teasing. Jealous because when I was a kid we played Pong on a 26" B&W TV.
Or Doom on a 15" CRT. A professional monitor at work cost as much as a new car, and was 1280x960 Trinitron.

OTOH, houses were cheap, so swings and roundabouts.

        • @manic: I didn't even have a chance to play Pong when I was a kid.

  • Price is now $700…

They really shouldn't be allowed to change the price when eBay offers a discount.. :(

    • $700 less 20% is $560 though.

I'm not sure if it was actually cheaper earlier, but the price is still the same as this deal.

    • Price for this one actually stayed the same. I ordered one, been on the look out for a while for the home office.

  • The dell u2414h is also available at ~$280 after the discount code.

  • This is the best 27-inch monitor according to the Wirecutter.

  • Which is better as the primary screen connected to a mid-2015 retina MBP?

    Dell U2715H or Dell P2715Q?

  • Bought at same price from previous deal - still going strong, great monitor however I turn the brightness down to 25% and below. It's a bloody bright screen!
