      Let's hope you're right Nostrildamus.

Why did I google 'Nostrildamus' and read the first Urban Dictionary link…

      • Just in time for the 1060!

all prices marked up 15%-20% :) this should be renamed to Ebay 0-5% off sale

Ive looked up 50 items now and im done,, nothing else i want

Some are still cheaper buying from a static ice listed store + adding shipping costs! ..

        • +15

shouldn't this be reported to the ACCC? not the first time a multinational would have its wings clipped by them in a huge lawsuit

        • +1

Last time there was 20% off on eBay, I purchased two Crucial 240GB SSDs. The price was 93$ each without the discount, and remained that price not long ago. Now they are 109$ each

Strix 1080 from Futu eBay - $1259 shipped before discount ($1007.20 after)
Strix 1080 from PCCG using cheapest shipping and PayPal - $1275

          Curse this 0-5% sale :(

You work for ebay or whatever your reason for sticking up for the retailers. good for you! we are about getting a bargain here! You go against everything oz bargain stands for. How are you not down voted into oblivion.

@Maverick-au: The way you conduct yourself leads to me asking you the below.
What are your vested interests on these companies?
Your behaviour is how I would expect a shill to conduct themself!

          @omgitzrick:

$1259 shipped less 20% was a great deal for an Asus Strix 1080.

Cheapest price on staticice is $1116.30 plus $14 shipping

I am happy with the $1007.20 I paid.

Some people can't see through their constant tears and whining

The Nikon D500 on RYDA ebay store is $3489 then take off 20%. But the same camera on the normal RYDA store is $3098
It's a pity the 20% isn't off the $3098 this makes me doubt whether the true discount is really 20%

        • +2

          @bohdud:

I reported this stuff (Dick SMith) to ACCC about 2 years ago, and I provided screen shots and spreadsheets of the price changes. DS wrote back to ACCC and said "it was a system glitch" and they were happy with that. Gave up after that.

Prices don't just jack themselves you know!

It's a pity that people keep adding new content, coz otherwise you'd own the whole internets by now.

      • Well there are 7 billion people on earth who in theory can churn out stuff. You never go though all the content.

Whether they may be artist, singers, musicians, bloggers, or those who like to play Pokemon Go on the freeway; you can have your place on the internet.

        • +15

You are the real Jason Bourne

        • +4

You sound like one of the guya on OCAU forum.

I personally find that the deciding and searching is the challenge that limits my capacity. I remember years ago when my Optus cable plan was 500GB and I'd spent 2 or 3 whole nights towards the end of every month just identifying then queuing up downloads.

        • +15

So you could just download what you wanted to watch again in 30 minutes but you spend thousands of dollars on storage instead. For stuff you won't watch again.

          Crazy.

Alot of the content i have you can never get again, at least ive never seen it online at all.

And besides ive got my plex server shared with a number of people so the variety is good for everyone.

Uh huh. So now we're supposed to believe that as well as storing what you download you go through the many titles 2000 days after they drop off Usenet and assess whether they're still able to be downloaded.

        • +6

@MATTDAMON: Congrats on the multi post. Hopefully you decide there are too many morons here soon well and leave us with one less.

        • +4

Everyone is voting you down, because you do exactly what we all do, you just clearly have the money to do more of it.

What TV / cinema setup you using? If you're so heavy on the PC / NAS / network side of things, I'd be curious to know what you're displaying it all on.

UHD stuff really needs a god damn huge, quality screen. I saw an 80 or 84" (? I think) UHD at Costco recently, for only 13k$ ….
I'd assume you have decent gear like that

        • +2

          Sony 75 inch UHD TV
Yamaha RX-A3079 AV Reciever (had to upgrade a perfectly good 3030 for HDMI 2.0 and HDR)

          Intel i3 NUC 5th gen (8gb ram, 128gb m2 drive)
Foxtel IQ3 (platnium for a grand total of 0 dollars per month)
          PS4 + XB1
          Apple TV3
          Google Chromecast

Speakers are SVS Ultra towers/center/surround bookshelves with a Paradgim Ultracube 12 sub, though will be changing this up soon and going to a 5.1.4 atmos setup with paradgim inwall/ceiling speakers.

Lighting is a Phillips hue setup with a bloom behind the couch and a v2 led strip behind the tv/entertainment unit.

Everything is wired via cat 6 back to the rack in the garage.

        • @MATTDAMON: Yeah that's a pretty slick system, 75" is probably the minimum I'd want for UHD stuff.
I grabbed a 13gb episode of Better Call Saul to check out on my 30" Dell (only 2560x1600) and I was shocked at how much detail was in 4k over 1080p. Even downscaled I just couldn't believe it - but god damn do you need serious money to support it. 3k$ + TV, massive amount of drives, big internet connection, fairly beasty server.

          Good for you, cash money.

        • @MATTDAMON:

The e-peen is strong in this one….

        • Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.? That's a tough one, but I'll take a shot. Say I'm working at the N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people that I never met and that I never had no problem with get killed. Now the politicians are sayin', "Send in the marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number was called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes home to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And of course the oil companies used the skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. They're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and (profanity)' play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So now my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's walking to the (profanity)' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the schrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorroids. And meanwhile he's starvin' 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. I figure, (profanity) it, while I'm at it, why not just shoot my buddy, take his job and give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president.

  • Is it 20% off just tech or anything from that sites with 20% off

  • +11

I was so excited to see this post! Ive been looking for an i7 6700k for a few days now.
They are usually $490 at computer shops but they listed it at $$584… ends up being the same price.
So i went to their site. They sell it for $490 on their site… oh well. Usual crap :( so sad.

    • Who did? PC Byte?

      • +2

Yes PC Byte. They have it for $490 on their website… oh well.

        Right now… from Futu

        6700k $565. 20% = $452… save $30 compared in static
        950 Pro 256. 20% = $215.. save $5 compared in static

motherboards and ram are either same price or more expensive…

oh well. maybe not upgrade time yet.

        • +9

Wait so both PC Byte and Futu Online increased their prices by ~20% at the last sale and didn't lower their prices and have kept them high! LOL I think someone else is high on something because this is utter bollocks.

Great time to buy a GTX 1070 ! ~$640 after 20% is a great price for local stock!!

    • +6

Not in the slightest surprised that PC Byte has taken off the GTX 1070 at 9:59AM .. FFS OR WAS IT JUST SOLD OUT?

If the latter, congrats to whoever got it!! Looks like I'm now back to my original plan of waiting until the end of exams & graduation so I can buy a new rig lol

  • Good timing, need a new router. Any recommendations? Need 3+ gigabit ports and AC wireless. DD-WRT would be nice bonus. Modem not required.

  • how do you guys figure out which stores are included?

  • +2

It's time for new PC rig.

I am eyeing on the below item.

    Intel Core i7-6700K
    Cryorig H7 CPU Cooler
    Asus Z170
    G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
    Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
    Western Digital Caviar Blue 3TB
    GeForce GTX 1070
    Phanteks Enthoo Pro
    EVGA 750W

    • Becareful. I'm looking for a new PC especially the 6700k too. The few items I want, they've jacked up the prices by 20% so ends up being the same price.

      • +7

My general rule is to look up staticice.com.au for items of interest.
If 20% off item is cheaper than cheapest store on staticice I may buy.

Some items I'm interested in appear to be 15% more expensive than the cheapest on eBay for AU stock.
20% off makes them cheaper, than said stores. But I don't want to support the practice of above RRP prices when I suspect eBay is covering the majority of costs in order to promote buying on eBay.

Because of this, I'm hoping for a 15% or 10% off all eBay. They have one every now and then.
Then I won't be supporting the greedy sellers that have inflated prices before coupon applied.

        • +3

this 100 times. I would rather pay some extra dollars not to have to deal with people like this. Not very ozbargany but I also do not price match.

    • +1

If you find a good price on a 500gb Samsung Evo SSD please post. I'll be on the hunt as well.

    • Are you planning to buy all of these parts separately?
Or is there a store selling this as a complete rig?

I've been considering this rig, plus some upgrades:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-Quad-Core-i5-6600K-3-9GHz-8…

But I'd much prefer something closer to your list (i.e. Z170 mobo, 850 EVO, better RAM, bigger HDD)

    • The 850 Evo @ Futu isn't too bad a price, $225 ($180 after 20% - 1.25% Cashback) = ~$177 delivered.

Usually around the $210 mark, nearly pulled the trigger last night on the Shopping Express 'Special' at $198 delivered.

      Glad I held off.
