Just thought I'd give this post another run since there's some more decent prices this eBay promotion. Thought compiling this post would be easy as I already had the last post at my disposal, but turns out that I still had to spend time removing/adding items, and trying to make sure that the link points to the cheapest available.

        • How do you find out that kind of info?

        • @lostn:
Not easily! I asked on android forums for other users to do a speed test on their sd card if they have the same phone as me and a couple people posted results. Just saved me some money that's for sure.

  • Has anyone got a comparison between Samsung Evo+ and Sandisk Ultra Micro SD cards? Are they pretty much the same?

    • +1

Evo+ is 80/20 r/w. I've heard the Ultra is about the same. You can't go wrong with either, just go for the cheaper one.

Though Sandisk does offer lifetime warranty.

According to reviews and comparisons online.
The Evo+ Performs better in terms of Write than the Sandisk Ultra.

Heres a real world benchmark comparison that I plagiarized from Amazon:
These are for the 128GB version:
Numbers are Sequential Read, Sequential Write, 4K Random Read, 4K Random Write in MB/s, speeds greater than 10MB/s were rounded to the whole numbers
        Samsung EVO+ — 82, 26, 5.9, 1,2 <== the listed product
        Sandisk Ultra — 92, 19, 6.4, 2.4

Kingston HyperX currently out of stock :(

  • what's a good SD card to get for a Sony A6000? Would the performance be better if I buy a SD card rather than microSD (ie. which can be shared across more devices)?

    • Sandisk Ultra MicroSD 80Mb/s 128GB $55.11 should do fine. 80Mb/s is more than adequate and a good value. The only point getting SD instead of microSD if it is cheaper, no major differences I can see otherwise.

      • cool…I was worried that the microsd turned SD (via adapter) would be somehow slower… thanks! :)

        • MicroSD cards are generally slower than SD… especially write speeds (which is the important bit with cameras)

Generally typical MicroSD cards are around 20 MB/sec write speeds. To go faster tends to be big price premium.. double the price. Whilst for full size SDXC cards, getting 40+ MB/sec write speeds are much more common

@homersyd: I hope you didn't buy your micro SD card yet. Because the advice is wrong in regards to the Micro SD vs SD cards.
The speed quoted on all cards are "Read" speed, this is pretty useless for a camera. The wrongly recommended Sandisk Ultra MicroSD 80Mb/s 128GB for $55.11 only writes at around 20mb/s which will most likely be too slow for your camera.

If you have a camera ALWAYS go for the SD Card version as it is often faster in Writes.
What you really care about is Writes for a camera because if you do stuff like video recording, burst shots at RAW and continuous shots at high resolution then you'd want the write speed to be fast or else you'd be standing there missing your chance of taking awesome photos cuz you are waiting for it to write to memory card.

For a Mirroless DSLR like yours, you'd want to go for one of the following: (All prices are not including 20% off)
          Micro SD
          Sandisk Extreme 64GB (Read 90mb/s and Write 40mb/s) - $45.95 (Minimum Requirement)
          Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB (Read 95mb/s and Write 90mb/s) - $66.95
          Samsung Pro (Read 95mb/s and Write 80mb/s) - $69.95
Samsung Pro Plus (Read 95mb/s and Write 90mb/s) - $84.95

          SD
          Sandisk Extreme 64GB (Read 90mb/s and Write 60mb/s) - $49.95 (Minimum Requirement)
          Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB (Read 95mb/s and Write 90mb/s) - $60.89
          Samsung Pro (Read 95mb/s and Write 80mb/s) - $65.95
Samsung Pro Plus (Read 95mb/s and Write 90mb/s) - $79.95

Note: The above prices may not be the cheapest you can get, because It was just a quick price gathering done. Always do your own price reconnaissance to ensure you are getting the best bang for your buck.

Overall depending on which one you get, the SD Card variants are often cheaper.

        • @lplau: thanks so much mate, this is so helpful! :)

        • @homersyd: There are noticeable differences in write speeds indeed, it does not mean though, that microSD is always slower. You can see at the link that MicroSD could have the same speeds as normal SD and costs only $2 more. At the end, it comes to priorities. If you are shooting sports or other actions where a lot of frames required in quick sequence, get a speedy one, if not, get twice the size for same price (that's my recommendation). And it will work with the camera fine:

The A6000 is limited in write speed. It measured 35.9MB/s maximum write speed during continuous shooting RAW images. Several cards performed between 33-36 MB/s write speed in the camera. The generous buffer in the A6000 combined with its moderate write speed capability tends to minimize the difference between memory cards.

  • Nice find on the TP-link bundle deal.
    Ordered
    Thank you :)

  • Having a bit of difficulty with this. I'm making a split order between Futu and PCByte and at first after applying the code it says "This voucher cannot be applied to all the items in your cart". It doesn't tell me which items though. It then greys out Paypal and Money Transfer options. I select Credit or Debit Card and then try the voucher again - this time it accepts it. Then I go to pay and it says "The seller only allows buyers to purchase 1 item every 10 days." come on mannnn - WHICH SELLER?!!@$!!~!@

Seemingly it is futu online. I have never heard of such a ridiculous term or condition. One item every 10 days…why?!

    • Try a different browser. If that fails, try splitting the order into 2 separate orders (you get up to 3 transactions per person).

      • It's too late as I put the purchase through via PC Byte but thanks for trying. I couldn't risk them running out of stock in the final hours of the sale

  • Anyone having problems with futu online taking their sweet time shipping?

    • Yep, ordered 6 items, still waiting for a dispatch notice.
