What's the target application for this capacity, video recording?

    • +1

Yes… but I mainly need it to hold our music collection on my SGS7 and still give the phone room to breathe. I had a 128Gb but the collection was pushing that capacity and although it was OK in the SGS4 for many years when I put it into the SGS7 it really screwed things up with 'Media' guzzling battery power. As soon as the card was removed or a few Gigs were deleted the phone was perfect so I concluded that the SGS7 needed a bit of breathing room to properly catalogue the collection. Of course a 200Gb Sandisk card would've done the job for music however I didn't want to sacrifice write performance for recording video etc. so I've been waiting for this beast for months now.

Make sure your device supports the size…

    • Most smartphones nowadays support SDXC, and have done so for a while now.

SDXC format supports (from 64GB) up to 2TB capacities. However, 256 GB is the largest microSD currently available. There's no reason an S7 etc couldn't take a 2TB card if they were available (unless a manufacturer limits the amount a phone can handle)

What's the difference between the Evo Plus and the Evo Select? I see the select also comes in 256Gb too:

    https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Micro-Memory-256GB/dp/…

Okay the Evo Plus looks like a significant upgrade from the 200Gb Sandisk I'm currently using to expand storage on my Dell XPS:

    I'm off to purchase…

Don't forget to Greenie this deal but yeah, very good question! I have absolutely no idea and it seems not many others do either. The 'Select' is white & green and the 'plus' is white & orange. The select has the 'U3' logo however some of the 'Plus' cards I've seen has 'U1' but both are always spec'd the same. Interesting.

      • The review I linked to said it was U3, I'm hoping it is!

      • Although the photo says U3, the description for this particular listing as well as the title says UHS-I.
Also all spec sheets I was able to find say 95/90 read/write, whereas the listing says 80/20.

I have posted a question on ebay, will let you know what the answer is.

Hi Lordelesar. Just received confirmation from a PC.Byte rep that this card is in fact 95/90! Woot!!

        • @SteveAndBelle: Thanks for letting us know :)
Unfortunately, they still have not replied to my ebay enquiry.

  • Would have bought this if I didn't just buy a 128gb a shortwhile back.

Impressive performance. Do note however that the Sandisk 200gb has gone as low as about $84 delivered from Amazon recently, so one would be wise to consider if they actually require the fast write speeds.

    • Agreed. I'm replacing a SanDisk being used as general storage so the samsung looks to be several times faster at writing which will be a big plus for me.

For use in cameras etc, maybe not so much.

PCBYTE is the worst store I've ever bought off, please save yourself the hassle and buy else where.

  • Odd, I can't seem to find this SD Card listed on any Australian store sites including Samsung.

reading the negative feedback of this seller really makes me want to wait for someone else to offer it at a decent price.

    • +1

Huh? Close to 95000 items of Feedback averaging 99.7% positive… that's not terrible. Even if something does happen you're protected by eBay & PayPal anyway.

  • Well well. I thought this thing would never come out.

I'm going to wait till it drops in price though.

  • This thing has read/write speeds of 95/90, which is even more than the 80MB/s that it is being advertised as.

This is the same speed as Pro+ and Sandisk Extreme Pro.

Very good card. But pricey. I don't need it yet, so I might wait.

Ordered a 64Gb Evo Plus MicroSD card from PCByte on Monday night with the current 20% off sale on eBay and it arrived in the mail today so currently no problems with slow shipping. In fact it was faster than I was expecting.

  • Just got message in eBay to say it's been delayed a couple of days. Hopefully all good.

    • Yep, same. Should all be good. Can easily make a claim if not… but it would be a shame!

  • +1

Mine has arrived. Unfortunately cannot test at work but the card is white plastic all over so it passes the first "fake" test :-)

    • How did you go GadgetGuy? Mine literally just arrived so put it in my phone and I'm currently copying a heap of data to it just to make sure it's genuine. Seems OK so far but of course I wont know for sure until I get closer to filling it. First impressions is that it's super fast though so already pretty happy :)

      • +1

I CBA formally testing it but I put around 60GB on it so far and it was very fast at writing.

        Seems a genuine bargain 😃

        • Absolutely however they only sent one but I ordered two. Have sent them a message so I hope it's all resolved soon.

        • @SteveAndBelle:

That's frustrating. Did they charge for 2 though?

        • @gadgetguy: Yep. Pretty sure it's a genuine mistake and probably compounded by late stock arrival. Fingers crossed!

        • Yep, just finished filling the card with over 250Gb data and it all works perfectly… wrote fast too! Can vouch that PC.Byte are selling the read deal. Bring on the price reductions!!

  • Was tempted to get one. But by the time I need it, it will have been available cheaper. This is still very new and first time I've seen it on OzB.
