  • What's everyone's experience of this software like versus McAfee? I need to renew my McAfee subscription, but it looks like this is far better offer!

    Cheers

I have been using kis since 2008, very reliable anti-virus software

    • Kaspersky always does very well in comparative AV tests and is something of a no-brainer if McAfee is the other choice.

Nothing to think about here young man at that price…Kasperksky FTW!

(BTW I actually use free Avast myself even though M$ has recently achieved a good rep. It's just that I don't trust those barsterds even a tiny bit.)

  • Nothing on their home page about this. Cant find the offer at the link youve provided.

kriscafc - see the current reports at avcomparatives (google) for AV effectiveness comparison. Personally I dont like mcaffee. My recommendation would be Kaspersky or NOD32. If using just an AV and not a suite, Norton 2010 is ok, but stay away from 360 as it generally causes more problems than it solves (I fix computers for a living)

  • Anyone looking for Kaspersky @ $8.99 - the correct link is here

  • So kaspersky is good yeah?

cheapest seems to be $18 on staticice

Sorry guys, no need for anything more than Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

MSE is about the only one that is not affected by the latest threat, see http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2010/05/microsoft-mse-…

    • Another vote for MS Security Essentials…. I ended up switching from Avast (free home edition) to MSSE and it's been great. If you were to buy an AV though, then Kasperky is really good and very highly regarded. If MSSE didn't exist (or wasn't free), then I'd be using Kasperky by now.

Agree with this comment if you are using Win7. I use it exclusively now on Win7 x64.

MS Security Essentials scored 100% in the last VB 100 test on Win7 in December 2009.

However it failed on XP in April 2010 missing 1 virus, still good for free though.

You can see a summary of the results on the VB100 site - free registration required.

  • i used to have kaspersk (crced), but then switch to avg free, but then because i can not turn off avgfree completely whenever i want, then i switch again to avast! also free. but i think avast isnt as good as avg.
hmm tempted. maybe this is the 1st time i will buy original software haha

  • ah 1 per person?damn wanted to get for my sister and myself!

    • +1

You can buy as many as you like, but only install each one on one machine.

      • The image shows a 3PC package

  • i've entered 2 as quantity.and shows me aud 17.98 so means it is good to go for 2?

    • rang them up and they said only 1 per person

  • this is a year subscription only for $8.99, yes?

  • So will i get a CD and the Key or i need to download and the key will be emailed?

i tried to put 2 and state 17.95 with notes saying postal and delivery is extra. on the bottom they said delivery is $12 for Air express post. plus CC is about $32 for 2 Kapersky?

Am i missing a point here, can anyone clarify?

    • (Producet price x quantity + postage) x (1+C/C surcharge) = total amount u need to pay by credit card

      is that clear?

      • lady_gaga is absolutely right.

The product price + postage + c/c surcharge = online price of subscription on Kaspersky website.

This is a no no deal.

  • u will get the CD and Key

  • how about the shipping is it included in this price? or they are the one to compute how much they will add? thanx.

  • the postage is a killer. can we pick up from the shop?

  • yeah, shipping is a lot more than the product itself. I think they are making more money from shipping.

  • Emailed them asking if they can just send me the unique product key after I paid and I don't need the CD. They said no. No deal then.

  • don't you normally need to buy hardware/new pc to be able to buy OEM software? still, great deal

  • THESE GUYS ARE SCUMBAGS!

I JUST GOT MY 'KASPEREKY OEM 1 YEAR INTERNET SECURITY @$8.99' AND THE BASTARDS CHARGED ME $16.95 FREIGHT!!!!!!

    TOTAL $25.94!!!!!!!!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. $8.99 IS THE ADVERTISED PRICE. SINCE WHEN DID IT COST $17 TO SHIP A SINGLE CD WITHIN AUSTRALIA!?

    (sorry about caps. I'm outraged!)

    • Yeah well, you should have just installed the FREE and well-respected Microsoft Security Essentials and you would have saved yourself this grief.

    • Russians mate :P

Did they call out the shipping cost before you entered your credit card details? if so it is on you to check the final amount, if not you can always dispute it through your bank.
