Do they ship out? I am in QLD but am hoping I can still get on the discounts.

    • no - in store only

    • QLD are also having closing sales

  • +1

    What happened to them?

    • +1

Some are converting to BCF stores, others are closing to be relocated after a period

    • investor demand, identity crisis and over supply

      • identity crisis

        Hahahahha yes, so much this.

      • +1

Weird. Rays is much better than BCF.

However both are a scam, their sales prices are just the same as anywhere else on the web etc.

I am skeptical of this closing sale. I bet all the good stock will just be transfered to other stores, the sale will only be junk left over and even then the prices will be the same as other stores online.

They are effectively the same LoopyLou as far as the suits are concerned 'The bogan conglomeration'

        • @cornbeef:

I know I'm just surprised they seem to leaning/rebranding toward the BCF brand.

        • +1

@LoopyLou: Guess BCF sounds better with SUV, and Rays was a bit socks in sandals perhaps.

        • @cornbeef:

Yeah that is very true. Maybe more cashed up bogans around.

        • When the Maribyrnong store closed most of the stuff on sale was crap.

About the only time Rays is any good is when the items are heavily discounted from their high RRP.

        • @LoopyLou: During the mining boom yes. BCF did very well in those years.

        • +1

@spacecowboy: Yeh and after flying on some small planes in the northern territory with some fifo's one can't help but thinking that BFC would have been a better acronym.

  • Noticed that the Preston store has been relaunched with a new look!

Some stores close, some are renovated, new stores are opened.

"We're repositioning as part of our branding strategy to leverage for maxmium uptake with todays consumer" blah blah blah

Gives the knobs at head office something to trumpet about, & pretend to be doing something for shareholders to hold onto their unnecessary jobs.

Zero share price growth in 3 years.

      • Zero share price growth in 3 years.

        The flailing of desperate management.

"Oooh shit our portfolio is stagnating, should we see if this company is actually necessary or just find some buzz words to pivot towards?"

"Pivot's a good word, lets pivot".

        Under new management/Renovations/Rebranding/Refurbished!!

  • Same in (I assume) WA stores. Definitely in the Balcatta and Joondalup stores, but you'd have to double check others. Very little left in the Balcatta store, and still over-priced for no-name brands.

    • The no name brands are actually in house brands that Rays make the most money on.

  • Selected SA stores are closing also.

    • The one near me is an enormous stand alone site and I wondered how it turned how it managed to justify itself.

  • Just to save people time. Not all items are reduced by 20%. Bbq's and accessories are only 10% off.

Looks like the same signage and deal as the. Dick Smith closing down sales, same signage, fonts, etc

So maybe we will see increasing discounts every week or so, so maybe hold out

  • I hate their rebranded look. Before they looked different to the others, now they look like a clone…

    • Are they trying to be more like Katmandu?

Do they have $30 jackets priced at $399 and then reduced to $79?

  • in case the item you wanted is sold out from Rays store but still available online, try BCF to price match the online price. I bought few items from BCF with price match.
