Managed to get one with the following steps
1. create an account in cdkeys with your email
2. get a coupon code from the above FB link, make sure to use a random email address
3. complete the transaction via PayPal
4. cdkeys will send a confirmation to your email account
5. go to the link in the email, and then enter your mobile for SMS
6. cdkeys will send a SMS, enter the verification code for step 5
7. go to cdkeys to obtain the cd key
8. follow the instructions to renew your Xbox live gold

Yes you can. I have bought games from them before without creating an account. They will send the codes to your PayPal account email. If you buy from them for first time, they want your mob number to send a verification code, but 2nd time round they just email the code straight to your paypal email address.

Never seen an Xbox live that was region locked before, but either way I just purchased and redeemed the code and worked perfectly
Yeah i know many don't have issues, but if you look on forums and the like it is common place, i think over the next few months as companies get newer codes they will be locked.
I have had issues with a couple websites including CDKEYS which was for a shorter time, they refunded and i notice they dont sell them anymore.
Microsoft made an announcement back in Late May that all codes were to be region coded going and this includes games. The new 1TB xbox units (and the S) have a code in the device which prevents say US games being activated on an AUS machine.
My mate returned his unit and got a 500GB one because he couldn't use his US MS account on the 1TB device. When he rang MS support they advised him that the 1TB machines have software which prevents no AUS accounts being used on the machines.
Sony have stated they will be doing the same soon too.

the 360 games are starting to have same time limits as the ONE.
last months games (june) stopped working when my gold lapsed, i renewed and now they work again.
I mean if you claim it on a 360 console.

These codes should last for a long time. Anyway, you can either stack it up now or renew/reactivate when you have your mate's Xbox
