Haven't seen this that cheap for quite a while, that includes the Poker Set. Has been cheaper without but great price for the combo.

Was a cult fave among fans however I believe it ended on a cliffhanger.

Great show. It helped start the era that became known as the Golden Age of TV.

    • Do you think we're still in that era?

      • +2

Absolutely. The streaming services have only added fuel to this fire and I reckon it could last for a few more decades.

I could be completely wrong though and it may be eclipsed by virtual reality entertainment in the next 5 years but I don't think it'll end as long as TV and streaming services continue providing more quality content than movie theatres as has been the case for years.

One of my favourite shows ever. Still can't fathom why Australia keeps getting shafted on a version with extra features. I bought this thing years ago, it's actually pretty good quality, and recently replaced the DVDs with Blu-ray's. Still sans any extra features (actually the Blu-ray even omits the promo photo gallery).

Apparently it costs more to add the features or something, but given we pay more even when the AUD is strong, I think that's a cop out, frankly.

      • I'd pay more (within reason) to get the features!

It's only DVD though. Crappy old standard definition. Buy this and you're pretty much going to have to replace it with blu-ray soon after since it's obsolete. In my opinion a waste of money unless you only have a standard definition TV.

I don't know why you'd bother with DVD when you can buy the complete series on HD blu-ray for $34.49. I know it doesn't contain this poker set but it's blu-ray way more superior than DVD. Why buy DVD when any way it's pretty much obsolete when it comes to today's technology. If you have a large screen full HD panel TV you're going to want native high definition which is what blu-ray offers as well as uncompressed sound.

If you really need a poker set that bad well you can buy them from eBay for under $23 delivered.

    • The $35 doesn't including shipping (qualifies for free if over $50).

      Otherwise, points well made.

  • I'm just after the poker set. Anyone want the dvds and not the poker set?

    • I usually scoff at the junk bundled with games and dvd's but I want that set too. Can't see any pictures of the chips, wanted to because the cards don't look branded with anything "Deadwood"..ian. Only pictures I could find elsewhere were chips with "Deadwood Saloon and Casino" and picture of Wild Bill, yet there was no "Deadwood Saloon and Casino" in the series I can recall.

I'll have a look tonight and post back if you like. From memory, the chips and cards aren't specifically Deadwood branded, but I could be wrong. The shot glasses are though.

        • Cheers but don't go out of your way. Like max23 I have the series and can't see myself justifying a $50 spend on the poker set if it's mostly generic/loose tie-in stuff. Now if it had "The Gem" or "The Bella Union" branding….

@COR80: It's very minimal, but the chips and cards are actually Deadwood branded. Just generic "Deadwood" though. "The Gem" and "Bella Union" branding would've been smart though.

        • @narcoleptic-haze: Ah well. Cheers anyway.

  • Hope all you connoisseurs of quality programming also caught "Justified", was cool seeing a heap of Deadwood actors in there again. Pretty sure I counted around 8-10 from memory.
