Members Advantage is offering NSW SES VA members discounts/benefits when joining American Express through them.

Members must meet the American Express Credit Card minimum requirements to be eligible for the offer.

Gold

  • $0 Annual fee for life of card
  • Includes membership to AMEX points program

Platinum Edge

  • First year annual fee credit back after making 5 purchases on card within 2 months thereafter $149 after (save $46)

Platinum Charge

  • 100,000 points after spending 1,100 in the first two months
  • $950 annual fee (reduced from $250)

Platinum Reserve

  • First year annual fee credit back after spending $550 on card within 2 months then $149 after
  • Can choose Amex rewards or Qantas FF

  • They look the same as other AMEX offers through professional association, like CA ANZ and CPA Australia.

      But is it still as hard to find places that accept AmEx, as it used to be?

      If so, why "saddle" good Vollies with such a burden?

      Anyone who can live "without borrowing" will get better value from a No-Fee debit card (MasterCard's or Visa, depending on your choice of bank.

      ING Direct gives 2% back - up to $99 - when you pay via "PayWave"
      (so, using it at ALDI's still earns you 1.5%, and they usually let
      you split your cart full of items into several transactions, each under $99, so you earn more ING-paid instant 1.5% refunds to your account, per shop there. (others do that, too, eg, OfficeWorks, etc.)

      Sounds like little, but at adds up. (Those of you who've taken Calculus know how this works… ;-)

  • Or get the Platinum Charge and have the Platinum Reserve as a free companion. As a regular fee paying $1200pa cardholder, $950 makes it good value.
