Please name 1 game that is 100GB in size.

      • +2

Few if any. Although it may be worth noting that Halo MCC is around 65GB, and the copy included in this bundle is a digital download.

500GB isn't a huge issue. If you have a spare USB3 HDD around you can use that down the line. If not perhaps its worth paying for the 1TB or 2TB from the outset. If you get a 7200RPM external then there may be performance benefits over an internal drive anyway.

      • +1

        ESO

      • Wouldn't need to, the system takes its fair share too.

      • You don't actually get 500GB useable space. Some space is reserved, and even before that about 7% of it is lost due to the definition of a GB being misleading.

      • +1

You lose over 100GB just on software.

    • +2

I'd rather get this and an external drive since game load faster from externals.

      • Wait, really?

        • Yep. And if you use an SSD it can cut some load times in half and improve over all performance.

    • A bit of an over exaggeration there. I have 15 games installed that take up 30% of 1TB. So that would be close to 80% on a 500GB. Depends on what you install, but you could have anywhere between 20-50 games installed on 500GB. Big budget games will be big in size, but the little players are usually between 1GB-10GB.

For comparisons sake, you can install Halo MCC 6 times on the 500GB.

if you don't already own an xbone then its a good deal.

    • +6

How? Paying full RRP on a product is a good deal since when? Have people gone mad?

      • +2

you want the cheapest 4k UHD Bluray player on the market,, THIS IS IT!! .. AT FULL RRP!!!!!

Pretty much all that needs to be said!

Sell the games and its even cheaper

        • +6

I guess the title of the bargain should be 4k UHD Bluray Player - $399…

        • +3

          @kevsta89:

should be :) + it plays games

        • Meh, won't bitstream HD Audio so it's not going to satisfy everyone.

        • @XeKToReX:

would that effect me.. i'm using my 4k TV built in speakers :) ?

        • @vid_ghost: Nope! Would only affect people who use AVR's that can decode DTS HD-MA, DTS:X, Atmos and TrueHD.

Will still output the uncompressed audio via PCM but some prefer to have the DSP in their AVR do the decoding.

        • @XeKToReX:

like me, I didn't know that was a limitation. That's totally balls. :(

      • +1

Ohh thats RRP? for some reason I thought it was going to be more. Still pretty good product for $399, but yes i agree, not a deal.

        • +2

not a deal for a game console but an awesome deal for a UHD Bluray player ( cheapest in Australia )

      • Woolies and Coles 2L milk for $2 is a good deal and that's RRP.

  • +2

this is RRP price and not much of a deal, already have the halo games now anyway

  • +2

maybe this can help people if they dont know which bundle to buy

  • Anyone with the existing console going to be in the market for a new Xbox One S Controller? Improvements seem to be minor (thumbsticks, some enhanced grip, and addition of bluetooth for PC use).

I've only got one controller ATM, so will ping for one of the new ones if there's a good deal somewhere.

    • +1

no deals yet. wait see if bigw gets them then get 5% off wit gift card. or use xbox store and get custom Xbox One S controller? any colour u want

  • +1

$399 is a good price considering the EOFY deals for the One started at $299 but went up to $379.

Many on here kept saying the One S would start at $549…glad I waited.

  • +2

    RRP no Deal

    • if Microsoft droped original xbox ones to $99 RRP is that no deal because it's RRP? no logic there.

  • +2

I think it is good to know that the Xbox One S model is going to start from $399.00 - good deal!

  • I don't care about plastic, which file formats does it play back using HEVC codec videos? Ie; 2160p 60hz h.265? No way I'm going to begin a 4K movie collection in some ancient non-HEVC codec with file sizes 10gb+++

  • Also, anyone know if the Aldi/Bauhn 4K TVs would be any good with this? I've heard there is too much lag for gaming. If so (and this is only good as a media player) I would just get a Amazon Fire or Nvidia Shield for around $300.

  • Does anyone seem to think it's possible or likely that MS will add the hd audio output at a later date? Or is that a hardware issue… It's really thrown a spanner in the works of my idea of emptying my ht cabinet. Must be said my receivers arent hdcp 2.2 despite being 4k compatible uggghhhh.

  • +4

Since when is RRP worthy of a deal?

  • Anyone know of an entry level 4k TV with HDR?

  • +3

how is this a deal rrp price I am sure any retailer will put out a better deal than this.

  • Do they have the trade in for this?

  • -1

microsoft already announce that "buy one get one policy" Buy the same game once and you will have two copies… one for windows…one for xbox one S… working same way with XBOX ONE S
you buy one copy XBOX ONE S game and automatically gain another copy at WINDOWS…
i believe this news is ture….

that means XBOX ONE S will have no…exclusive title….seems all the game will cross between WINDOWS and XBOX ONE S
The XBOX ONE S's Game is not Native 4K…simply to be Native 1440P (might be slightly higher than this or even lower) and scale up to 4K….
While 4K ppi density is so high our eyes just won't realize it….so they call this 4K gaming….

i don't know why Microsoft do this but…I will get a play-station NEO…put my gaming computer around my 4K TV
out put 2560X1440 resolution to 4K TV….(GTX1070…almost all game brainless set to ultra and 60FPS at 1440p)
XBOX ONE S will not able to run same game on 1440P with high settings …consider the picture quality and GPU requirements

purchase new game title on windows shop(since they connected to XBOX server and basically same thing :P) or steam….Done….

    • +1

Apparently they pulled the same stunt as before XBone launch and rescinded their terms. They backpedalled and now not 100% of all future titles will be cross-play, only those announced at E3 so far.

      • +1

damn they are bunch of lier …
another reason i will not buy XBOX…who knows what they gonna do next… XBOX ONE SSSS?

  • +5

Two reasons I'm going to neg this deal:

    1. This is pre-launch RRP. I don't mind well priced RRPs (eg. Early Nexus phones) but this is the RRP prior to launch; from EB of all places. I have no doubts this bundle will be sold for cheaper from other retailers soon after the initial launch.

    2. This is a gimped version of the Xbox One that will be superseded by Project Scorpio in 2017. Unless you are buying this ONLY for 4k video playback, I can't imagine that this deal is worth it especially considering that this bundle contains 2 games that would benefit from having a better hardware. If you are buying this ONLY for 4k video playback, why not buy a standalone version instead of a bundle?

    • this is the cheapest Xbox one S bundle you can get.. :) the rest cost more. they dont have a 500gb model without games to make it cheaper

    • Well I may get a Xbox One S mostly because I'm not going to get the Scorpio at launch because it will be pointless as it is definitely going to be overpriced since its a damn powerhouse from what we know now. I know MS launch consoles are pretty bad considering their past they produce crappy bulky looking consoles with a huge power adapter. In a couple years time after launch they'll release Scorpio S which will be a better package with a bigger hard drive and improvements to the hardware.

To me the limited edition Gear of War Xbox S console looks like a beauty and a great package for me I reckon.

I know in that package you get a download code for Gears of War 4 ultimate edition + season pass, the complete gears of war collection(1, 2, 3 & Judgement) also a download code and a 2TB console. That alone is the best package I've seen so far

RRP Preorders belong in the forums

  • +1

i wonder how many negs does deal have to get before its either taken down or moved to a forum.

    • Only if OP requests it to be taken down

  • -1

This is just the 2013 box shrunk down right? Hmmm, a slim should be cheaper than the fat traditionally. Something stinky here.

  • +3

This is just RRP. Wait till one of the big stores do a special if you really need this

  • +2

Note it does not support 4k games

  • +2

Title is misleading as only video streaming services support 4k. There's no actual 4k gaming possible on this One.

    • +1

I guess you'll just have to do some research to know the truth

  • Would like to hear others feedback on the fan noise coming from the xbox one S when they recieve it. Can't say I'm fully satisfied with mine atm. I feel like my fatboy xbox one was quieter but noise coming from consoles usually works on a case by case basis.

  • no black no buy, every other console i own is black

  • +1

Good price. I personally consider this as a deal and like it much more than high RRP and then discounts, cash back, pricematch, … $399 sounds like a very fair start price for this console.
Will definitely get one (mainly as 4K player) but guess I will wait for the 500GB console with FIFA 17 bundle which will also cost $399 and will be out 22/09 ( see here: https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Xbox-On… ). By then I will also see if the offers came down a bit or not … worth the wait for me.
