Just remember to print the coupon out comrades, showing them the pdf on your phone doesn't do it for these guys, they wouldn't print it for me there so I had to run around from newsagent to newsagent to find one that could print by email. Date night ruined : (

Same thing happened to me, really irritated me, its a strange way of doing a voucher as well

    • So…Phone isn't fine? :(

    • Ah yes. So IMAX is the dinosaur in the room. Still wants paper.

  • Yeah I think imax e-voucher cant be redeemed online?

    • -1

You can redeem these online. Read the instructions on how to redeem in the fine print.

Lol, The e-voucher cant be redeemed online. Just take out the 'e' in e-voucher then.

  • Seems they got rid of the "No Free List" condition, which is good. Redeem online is only available after Aug 01 though.

    I have a love/hate relationship with IMAX.

No other cinema technology beats their 1570 projection. Fills the entire screen, and is crystal clear. You won't hear me stop raving about it.

Although for digital movies, the picture is 25m wide, which is same or even smaller than some Vmax/Xtremescreen cinemas (eg. Blacktown Hoyts xtremescreen is 28m wide). On top of that, Hoyts and Event will project 4K films in 4K, where as Imax still uses their 2K system for all digital films. I am looking forward to IMAXs 4K laser system, but who knows when that will install in Sydney. At a $15 price, go for it, although I wouldn't pay standard ticket price for a digital presentation that is better at a standard cinema.

    • how do you know which one is a ordinary digital presentation vs the good movies??

I found the best place to sit in imax is in the 2nd last row in the dead middle where you can climb out of the chair and walk out

best view and easiest to get in and out :)

It will say on the website.
For example, Suicide Squad states "This is a digital IMAX 3D presentation".

Something projected on film will say something like "This is an IMAX 1570 film presentation". They rarely use the film projection anymore unfortunately. A rare film like Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Hunger Games: Catching fire, and more recently Batman vs Superman, for example, are shot with the IMAX film format, so get a presentation.

IMAX even say on their site that their digital system is a 'short term measure'.
From their website news section from a few years ago:

        "What’s the future?
Our new dual-format projection capability is a short term strategy. Looking ahead, we are planning for the 2014 release of IMAX’s brand new 4K digital projection system that uses LASER TECHNOLOGY as the light source." 2016 and the new projection system hasn't been installed.

I think the 4K laser projector has been delayed probably as a result of the changes happening at Darling Harbour. I think the building is getting rebuilt, so they'll probably hold off until after construction of new building. That's just my guess.

The laser projector will be able to fill the entire screen, and have excellent colours, so am looking forward to checking it out (Melbourne already have theirs installed)

    Looks like a great deal.
Last time I've been to IMAX was back in 2000 when they were still by Panasonic.
    Wonder what's changed.
I remember last week got an email about 15% for groupon?

  • Can you use 2 vouchers in a single ticket?

Tried finding it out but cant.

  • Just used 7 vouchers for Suicide Squad :D, Thanks OP!!

  • What's changed was that Life is Good.

  • +1

There are no good movies coming up - Except for Suicide Squad may be.

    • gotta agree - added the vouchers are only valid for 2 months…
