Can the Three Europe (14 Country) Data Sim be used in a Wifi Hotspot tethered to a few devices?
If so, how best to activate it in the Wifi hotspot?
    Thanks - good deal…

    • +1

Hi there! Yes, the Three Europe (14 Country) sim can generally be shared by tethering/hotspot. However, this is of course subject to the relevant roaming network's policy, which may change from time to time (but for now, we're not aware of any particular restrictions…)

I suggest you go through the activation steps on one phone, then once its all set up, chuck the sim card into your Wifi hotspot.

      Cheers

        Great, thanks for prompt reply.

Coupon not working for this SIM - Three Europe (14 Country) Data Sim remains at $54.95 each after inserting coupon code…
        "This coupon has expired."

        • Whoops, sorry! All fixed now, coupon should work! My apologies…

        • @CheapTravelSims:
Doesn't work for multiple cards, as per your description should be $5 discount per card.
Tried to purchase 3, only gave $5 discount, not $15

        • @Wiggam: My bad again… All fixed! Please bear with us - the website is new!

      • Does the Europe SIM cover the Netherlands? I checked the three site and its not one of the countries. I believe it is on your site though.

        • Definitely works in The Netherlands - the card uses T-Mobile and Vodafone (4G) there :)

THink you have plan a and plan b around the wrong way for USA. Also how does your family and friends in Australia can call yo for cost of a local call ?? Surely they are calling a US number ??

    • +1

I had the same question, I found this on their website https://info.ultramobile.com/call_me_free/ looks like you call a local AU number and then they just forward that on to the US number. I assume they are just using a VOIP service which uses the internet to forward you on to the US hence no cost, similar to how facebook messenger, viber, skype or any other service would work.

      • Correct, thanks for linking! There's details on our product page too.

Of course, the easier way to get in contact would be Viber or Whatsapp call given the unlimited data…

    • Thanks for pointing up the mixup - description has been edited above!

      • Does the 1gb US plan include 2g/3g data after the first gig or does the data just cut off?

        • The 1GB USA sim is not unlimited, unfortunately.

        • @CheapTravelSims: Thanks for letting me know

Purchased for my Japan trip in October. Thanks =)

Any chance of something longer than 8 days for Japan. I'm heading over in September for just under 2 weeks

    • Not yet - but we're working on getting a 15 day sim, so watch this space! In the meantime, perhaps you can consider getting two of our $19.95 8 day Japan sims (and you'd get free shipping for buying more than one sim)?

      • +1

Yes, have been waiting for a one for my 12 days trip to Japan in Nov this year.

      • Thanks, how long would it take to get 2 sims to brisbane?

        • Please allow up to 10 business days, thanks!

    • +1

These can be delivered to the airport for pickup.

      http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/

      About $30.

  • I'm heading to USA and will need the sim cards by the 12th of august. What are the chances I'll receive the before then because your website is giving be a warning. Might be cutting it too close?

    • Sorry - the timing is definitely cutting it a bit too close. Hope we can help next time!

      • Thanks for your reply. Is it a supply or postage issue? Would happily pay for express postage if it's only that holding you back =)

        • It's actually a logistics issue, unfortunately. Because we work directly with the wholesaler for the USA sims, we need a bit more time to process the order and send it off to you. Sorry mate.

As a gesture of goodwill, please feel free to email us directly next time for any order, and we'll make sure to take care of you. Have a good trip!

        • Ah bugger, thanks anyway buddy. Best of luck with the business!

  • Few quick Qs.
    1. Heading to HK then JP leaving on 16/8. Will there be enough time to send out the sim?
    2. So do I just throw this into a mobile wifi modem and it should work? Any specific bands does the modem need to support for JP?
    3. I'm in JP until the 26th but the expiry date on the sim states 24th. From what I gather I just need to make sure I've activated the sim prior to 24th though yea?

    • Hi there

      1) If you order today, there should be enough time. Our website will check delivery times at checkout.

      2) Yes, it should work. The bands are:

      2100MHZ (BAND 1), 800MHZ (BAND 19), 1500MHZ(BAND 21), 1800MHZ (BAND3).

      3) Yep! Just make sure you activate before the expiry date :)

      • Thanks bud, just need to hunt down a modem !

      • Just found this.
        Huawei E5573.
So I just order a standard SIM and throw it in there?
Do I have to configure anything?

        • You'll need to enter the APN settings, as listed on our site, following Huawei's settings panel. You can follow the one for Android. However please note that its recommended that the sim be used in a phone (and tethered that way) instead.

        • Too late now as I've ordered alrdy haha.

To your knowledge will there be any issues ?

Im assuming the modem has similar settings for tethering.

        • +1

@arman1201: Should be okay assuming you can set the APN on the Huawei modem. Maybe bring a second phone in case? Cheers!

        • +2

          @arman1201:
I have the Optus Huawei E5573 Wifi modem also

  • Japan purchased, cheers!

  • Heading to France on Aug 14 for 3 weeks. Would you have a 3 week expiry option or do I just have to purchase several sims? Will they get to me in time if I order today?

    • Sorry, that might be a bit rushed and there's a slight chance it wont arrive in time, so better not risk it! Let us know in advance next time you need a travel sim, and we'll hook you up ;)

      • Is it a wholesaler/logistics issue for eu as well?

  • Wow ten days oh well

  • +1

Heading to HK next month so have ordered a couple sim cards, thanks for the deal. Hopefully all works fine if so will certainly use from now on.

    • +1

No problems, we're happy to help out! Keep an eye out on our deals - there's plenty more to come!

  • I have my order decline as I wasnt aware this is thru international transaction.

    • Hi there - Stripe (our payment processor) might be charging you from their systems overseas - is this the issue you faced? Please also PM us your order details so we can double check. Thanks!

  • Thanks.
Yes the decline is due to my Credit Card locked for international online transaction.

    • Sorry about that! We only use Stripe for now, but will look into other payment methods like Paypal in due course.

  • +1

Who is your competitor allegedly charging $54 after coupon for the USA SIM card? Travel SIMs Direct?

    • Yep, they're running a promo now. Granted that is a 6GB card but the product we are selling comes with unlimited international calls ($25 addon) which the 6GB card doesn't and our card expires in 2017/2018 (super long expiry), so it more or less is the same. Probably shouldn't have put the comparison up, so if its not in good taste, I'm happy to take it down!

      • +1

I would recommend that you do remove it, given it's quite misleading.

Given that most folks have smartphones these days, and can call whoever / wherever for free anyway means unlimited international calls VS an extra 5GB of 4GB data is not a valid comparison, certainly not "more or less the same".

        • Done, thanks for the suggestion. Hard to compare apples and oranges, really.

        • +1

          @CheapTravelSims:

Thanks, and kudos to you for transparency and responsiveness - on this site, that is currency.

  • Can we buy a sim for travel later?

I am going to the US next February.

    • Sure can. Our USA cards are valid as long as activated before September 2017 or December 2018 (depending on which one you buy).

  • How do these cards work? I was under the impression every country require ID verification before you can use a new sim on their network for security reasons

    • None of these Travel Sims require ID verification - generally you only need to pop it into your phone and you can use it straight away.

      • Thanks

Hi OP, can I have a raincheck ;P on the $5 discount offer on the Japan sim card?!

I am heading to Japan on 2 Dec and will need 2 local sim cards then!

p.s. I just ordered 3 HK sim card. Thanks for the great offer!

    • +1

Hey, no problems mate! We can't promise the $5 discount per sim will still be on offer by the time you order, but you should have 10% off coupons and $5 referral discounts in your receipt which you can use - did you get it? If not, I can re-send :)

(Or just PM me or email us at info[at]CheapTravelSims.com and we'll take care of you)

      • +1

        Thanks for the positive response.

I did receive the 10% off coupon but I believe it's quite short-dated - I am afraid it will get expired before I can order the Japan sim cards with an "activated by" date beyond 2 Dec 2016.

Any way it is not big deal. Just want to let you know that there is a market for your new business. Congratulations!

        • +1

Cheers! We'll have a lot of specials coming - keep an eye out for our deals ;)

Edit: Just PM-ed you a longer expiry date coupon, please check!

  • Hi OP, long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm heading to Hawaii on 21 August. If i order 2 sims, will it arrive in time?

    • Hi there, if you place an order today, it should arrive in time unless there is an unexpected delay with mailing/AusPost. Cheers!

  • +1

Bought 3 US sims to support this new start up.

Keep up the good customer service mate.

    • Thanks mate! Have a good time in the States :)

  • Hi OP,

I'm travelling on 24/08 to japan and reside in Melbourne. If I'm ordering it now, will it arrive on time? do you send the japanese sim from an AU location?

    Thanks

  • +1

    Anyone got their sims yet?

    • Nope and my flight is tomorrow… Ordered on 30th…

    • Yep - today. 14 days. Sent from HK
