PowerColor Radeon RX 480 $316 @ Newegg

160

Powercolor RX 480 for $316. Even with shipping (Melbourne for me), it comes to $358.43, which is still a bargain. Act fast as they might sellout.

I didn't wait for a entire month to get a reference, not giving up now

I was waiting for the non-reference cards too, but after seeing that the Sapphire Nitro+ was pretty lackluster, I lost hope. You also have to consider the pricing. I just can't see the non-ref cards costing less than $440 here, and at that price range the RX 480 loses its competitiveness (You can buy the R9 Fury for $500 at MSY, and the 1060's start at that range too).

At less than $360, I think it's hard to look past. Buy it real cheap, enjoy the performance boost and if you want to upgrade, easily resell it for the same price. Cannot go wrong.

      • Doesn't local stock start at around $379 anyway? Different brand but still reference design so no real difference (imo) as it's effectively the same…

        Edit: +shipping, so like $390-400.

      • The heatsink on the nitro sucks bigtime.

        Why do people neg facts?

    • waiting for RX 470 :) here

  • I've been searching high and low for some news on how many monitors the 480 can run. I got a hexa LCD setup, but can only use 4 LCD due to a sli gtx 570 limitation. Can you guys tell me if the 480 can output to 6 LCD, and if so then is it worth the upgrade from sli gtx 570. I don't play games. Just need more real estate for work.
    Thanks.

    • I would suggest looking at the Rx 470 then it also has quad outputs 2 of those would be better.

      • Or just one and a Display Port MST hub. 3 direct from the card and that final output split into 3 from the hub.

        • if you really want low power rx 460 but it only has 2 outputs

        • Display Port MST hub

looks interesting. i'm trying to find out if it works with a gtx 570.

        • @whooah1979: You may be out of luck. Requires DisplayPort 1.2 and looking at the standard GTX570 specs, the card doesn't list DisplayPort at all. Might be a gamble if you have the ports.

    • Are you asking if the board is capable of supporting more, with a custom design? I know some 7970s way back had 6 ports - but the stock ports on the boards are 4. Dunno if you can output to all 4 though? Definitely 3 though, no doubt about that.

Did you want to run multiple cards or just 1?
Very few cards get modified for that multiple output stuff to be honest bu t it does happen from time to time.

      • sorry. i should have given more information.

        my workstation>
        i5 2500k
        p8z68
        2x gtx 570
hexa dell lcd setup, but running quad because the gpu has only 2x dvi each.

my question is can the one rx 480 run hexa lcd or do i need to get 2x rx 480 get the job done?

i may have to look for another gpu now that the has expired. looking to spend <aud400 on one gpu or <aud700 for two. any suggestions?
        thanks.

  • $350 shipped for the 4GB and 400 for the 8GB on the nitro preorder from OCUK (with DHL express). IMO a much better deal

    • +3

Yes, but the bad thing is there have already been so many pre-orders I wonder when will you actually receive the card?
