BEWARE nexus 5 will NOT be getting Android Nougat 7.0

    • +4

Firstly, you're talking about Nexus 5, not Nexus 5x which WILL be getting Android 7.0.
Secondly, its only a rumour and hasnt been confirmed that the original Nexus 5 will not be getting the latest Android update.

  • I only just bought the 5X 32GB from eGlobal a week ago…. :(
Just cancelled my order from them and will get it from here instead…

    • a week ago and you haven't received it?

      • I had to wait for stock to come in for the Black colour I wanted.
If they don't have stock, you can cancel your order thankfully

        • I'm waiting for the same phone from them too.. Considering if it's worth the almost $100 difference to get it from JB instead.

If they can't fulfil my order by tomorrow afternoon I'll see if I can cancel it. Did they cancel yours already with no issue?

        • Yeah, they sent a e-mail to me that the refund process is underway. They did it quite quickly, they sent back after 10 mins.
How long does PayPal take to receive refund usually?

          It says this:
          Dear (your name),
          Greetings from eGlobaL Digital Cameras.
Further to your order, we are now processing your refund for your order as per your request or due to one of the following reason(s).
          - Unable to complete verification within 5 days (if the previous status of your order is "Verifying")
          - Failed a security screening
          - No response from you regarding a pending issue
          - Product out of stock
Please note the process may take up to 5 working days subject to the processing time of the respective financial institution. If you need further assistance please contact our customer service.

        • @grandtheftbat01: Let me know when/how long you get the refund. I'm going to give them to till say, lunch time to have my phone shipped and then cancelled if not, I think.

        • I reckon I will get the refund today or tomorrow, meanwhile I hope it stays in stock at JB. I will let you know.

        • @grandtheftbat01: Did you just email their support to cancel it? I've got an open ticket from them asking about when they expected the phone to ship and I think I'm ready to cancel now.

        • @grandtheftbat01: Never mind, they sent me the same cancellation email :)

I'll see if I can price match at Officeworks.

        • @rith:
It was worth cancelling for the local warranty and stock.

        • @rith:
Just got the refund through Paypal. Full price I paid including postage.

        • @grandtheftbat01: Yep, got mine too :)

I've actually been pleasantly surprised with their service. Shame it took so long for them to ship.

        • @rith:
Yeah, just got the phone from JB.
Surprisingly good service, expected some hassle to get the refund.

    • +1

eGlobal are the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Good luck with your order cancellation.

      • Hopefully it goes through quickly. Going to wait for the money to come back to the phone and then go to JB or price match it at Officeworks, Harvey Norman don't sell it anymore at stores apparently

      • Went through perfectly. Just got the refund, in full

This is an awesome phone. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it's the nicest phone I've used. It's not made out of metal but it's also very light for the screen size. I actually prefer plastic phones. The camera is incredibly good with no shaky photos.

Stock Android is awesome. While you might be worried about 2GB RAM or a slower processor than some other flagships, it's incredibly smooth.

The fingerprint reader is really quick. I also think Android Pay will really catch on, as I can store all of my loyalty cards on my phone. Works well with ANZ and more banks will come on board in the next 12 months.

I was hesitant to buy this phone for 2 reasons - USB Type C and no SD Card. There is no USB Type A to Type C cable in the box (the 'regular' USB plug),only a Type C to Type C. Go to MSY and buy an $8 Type A to Type C cable (Cablelist USB3.1). It's the cheapest one I could find that is standards compliant (I have tested with CheckR and Ampere). You can also pick up Blitzwolf cables when Banggood has a sale. Kogan's cables were not compliant. The Google store also sells a Type A to Type C cable but it costs $20 and takes a couple weeks to be delivered.

With respect to the SD card, I still have about 20GB of free space on my phone. I don't play any mobile games but I've still got 4GB of apps installed.

And for ultimate OzBargainer points - I bought it through an Officeworks price match and run it on AldiMobile…but I may be tempted by another SIM starter kit sale :p

I might go price match it too. Officeworks almost price matched eGlobal until they realized their Nexus 5X's were grey imports.

    • It should come with a USB-C (male) to micro USB (2.0, female) adaptor in the box (if it's newer stock).

      • Yep, mine came with that adaptor.

        • Hmm interesting, mine didn't have the adapter in the box so it must have been on the shelf for a while. I bought one of the Blitzwolf adapters. Once the Galaxy S8 is released with USB C, the connector should become ubiquitous.

    • I had no luck price beating at two different stores :(

      Online wouldn't do it either.

      • I price-matched to Mobileciti, Australian stock. You might struggle here because the list price is still $647 at JB.

  • Bought this phone from Jb a few months ago in a similar deal. Phone is amazing, nothing beats stock Android. But I had a first hand experience as to why buying local is better. The phone completely pooped itself one day. Just turned off and didn't turn back on. I returned it in store to Jb, they sent it off for repairs on Friday, and had a replacement to me by Tuesday. They also have me a loan phone in the mean time.

  • Bought it off dwi during the 3% off eofy deal last month, think it was $359 delivered and I paid via credit card/paypal. Zero complaints, it struggles a bit if I run GPS/Maps, Spotify, Facebook Messenger and Pokemon Go for too long but otherwise no dramas, love the phone.

  • Just got myself one of these!

  • Cheers OP, just purchased one.
