  • Great price for a local model. Cheers OP!

  • +1

    Blue colour only

  • Worth it?

  • Hmm this or mi5?

    • This hands down.

      • Apart from obvious warranty issues, any other reasons why?

        • +7

          Stock Android, guaranteed updates.

        • The vanilla Android experience. Guaranteed to get the latest updates for another 2 years. Relatives Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro had horrible software on it. Lots of ads. Became fine once it was flashed. Has the same camera, fingerprint sensor as the 6P.

I dunno about the Xiaomi, but this phone is easily repaired should a component break/fail. Almost identical to the Nexus 5 (2013).

        • @happychappy1: Xiaomi has updates weekly/monthly/quarterly. And they have a fantastic track record of updating existing flagships to latest VERY quickly, sometimes quicker than Samsung/LG.

        • @OnlinePred: Nexus phones have updates every month.

      • Why? Literally the only reason would be warranty.

    • What if comparing to HTC m8?
Wanting to upgrade Coz 16GB internal is just a joke with all the HTC software taking almost all of it. Leaving no storage for app install .

      • M8's camera is crap. Bad for photos.

    • Depends if you want 2016 flagship or 2014 flagship.

  • +8

Great price, should have been this price when released though imo. Loving the new android n preview build too.

  • +1

Too bad no additional $200 trade-in like the last Galaxy S6 Edge deal.

    • I was about to say the same thing. Was excited to open the email hoping that there would be a trade-in deal on top of it haha

      • There's a few internet sites that buy phones, just fyi!

        • +4

But will they buy a $29 phone for $200?

        • @chewkl: Mine was a used $9 phone :D

        • @chewkl: Yes, of course!

    • I think the $200 trade in was sponsored by Samsung.

      • Yes, it was

  • Thanks for the heads up.
Bought one for my Brother :)

    • +28

Hey it is me your brother.

  • right time when i just broke my nexus 5 screen and looking for a replacement….tempted, but hasnt decided…

    • I have a 6P, but am thinking about repairing my Nexus 5 screen (for the 3rd time) as it is so easy to do and costs about $50-$100 to do, but this is tempting.

      • you mean u repair it urself or at shop? when i checked with LG, they said $220…saw few gumtree ads for $150..

        • +7

Did it myself - there are a few great YouTube videos. It's quite simple.

There are cheaper Chinese located replacements (you want the entire assembly with frame and screen installed)

But this one is local to me and looks to to be the best quality from the pictures.

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161515921317?_trksid=p2060353.m14…

The tools included will also help you.

          The reason mine cracked twice:

          1. I tightened a screw too tight and it put pressure on the screen and cracked the LCD.
          2. Spontaneous crack with the phone in my pocked. I opted for the cheaper screen the second time to save money and it appears the replacement screen was faulty.

          Sorry to hijack this post!

        • +1

@rorymeister: cheers mate…may b i will try repair and sell it off..more reasons to buy this 5x

  • +1

    Great price. Thanks :)

  • How does the warranty work, would tht be with JB ? My N5 was bought from Google store.

    • Either Jb or lg

    • When my N5 battery died within the 2 year warranty period Google replaced the phone immediately, no fuss. I was delighted with the warranty service.

  • +1

Great price for a great phone. Definitely worth it imo (current owner of a 5X).

  • tossing up between this and the s6 edge for 600 grey import

  • +5

this or LG g4 from kogan for $441?

    • +4

      For warranty this

      • +1

What about performance wise, including camera and features? This definitely looks sleeker than the g4. The g4 lost the good looks fern the g3.

        • +1

Performance the 5X, camera the G4.

        • +2

          @ko0l:
Not sure if this is worth mentioning, but the g4 actually has 3GB of ram while this has 2.

    • G4 for the leather

  • +1

Long time iphone user. So so so so tempted

    • +2

If you're tempted, I'd assume (or hope) that you're willing to spend the time to learn a new operating system. If you are patient and accept that not everything will be the exactly the same as iOS, you might find you like it. Course you might find you don't.
All I'm saying is take your time and be patient, as learning a new operating system on something you use daily will take time :)

      • +4

I am willing, that's why I am willing to switch. I have been gazing at Android from afar and now might be the time for me to take that leap of faith.

        • +7

Well the 5X would be a fantastic phone to get then. Good luck!

        • +6

@theguyrules: Bought it! One of the main reasons for moving to Android (which isn't something that's often talked about) is how expensive iphones are compared to the Nexus for example. Let's see how we go!

      • +1

Having jumped from iOS4 to Android JB (GS3), they were pretty similar… not too sure about now though.

Shouldn't be hard to learn, anything iPhones can do Androids will most likely be able to do, keyword being most likely.

        • +2

That's exactly when I made the jump, and never looked back! Android just keeps getting better too, so easier to switch to IMO.

    • +7

I used an iPhone as I was curious to see what the fuss was about - used it daily for about 3 months straight.

My unbiased opinion is that Android is leaps and bounds ahead in terms of form and function.

  • +1

Thinking of using $130 in vouchers I have from Coke Rewards….. I'm still with Moto G 1, and it has been lagging for quite some time.

  • +1

I wish play store price match :(

Nothing agains JB, but google warranty is better. Not worth $200 more tho

    • HN has this…but not the BLUE..and I am not sure if they do price match…

  • Damn, just bought the Moto G 3rd Gen off Good Guys ebay

    This always happen…

    • Sell that off and rebuy? Or return it, and rebuy?

    • Me too :-(

  • -1

How well would this work with T-Mobile or AT&T in the US?

    • Never mind, no microSD slot :(

    • Works better on AT&T as it supports all the AT&T 3G/4G bands. AT&T has better coverage too.

T-Mobile 3G is fully supported, just missing band 12 for 700mhz.

Lots of people online complain about not having band 12 for T-Mobile, so it's probably crucial.

  • +1

For those that don't like the 'blue' colour - you can for around $30 replace the rear battery housing:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_odkw=nexus+5x+rear+cover&…

    • +1

      Thanks man!

I never thought about getting a battery housing to change the colour!

      I'm going have a white Nexus 5 now :)

    • Thanks. But will that change the colour of the finger print reader too?

      • +2

No. The fingerprint sensor is a separate module and the rear housing has a hole so you can reach it.

  • -5

    Hello

Or you can get one for $425.95 from Kogan through Ebay CTECHIE Deal…

    • +3

21$ more for the local warranty is really worth it I think

      • +4

        $21 for AU version/band 28 sweetens it a lot.

      • +1

        But it's black! :-P

  • Great price on a great phone! Thanks OP

AU version Nexus 5X with local warranty makes it super sweet! :)

Shame it doesn't come in white. Ahh well.

    • Can't have it all, ay? The black one's $100 more but you may be able to just live with the blue one for $100 less!

  • Any external storage slot? and what sim size is this using? thanks

  • I wonder how much of an upgrade this phone is from my xperia Z3 i have. Probably not too much to be honest.

  • Seems like there are still camera bugs according to the comments, hope that resolves.
    http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/08/nexus-5x-update-lag-fix/

    • Yes, the source is this Reddit post by a/the "Nexus Community Manager" saying the March OTA will resolve some of these issues… Hopefully it does.

  • +2

decision made….so it will be a Nexus 5x replacing my cracked Nexus 5 :-) thanks OP

  • -2

    Any idea when this finishes?

    • +1

13 March…says it right up there on the post info

      • Thanks, I looked everywhere, except there…

  • available in store at same price?

  • +1

Best case for the Nexus 5x? want something with a lip so that the screen is protected if it drops but also something that doesn't add much bulk to it.

      • will the skin cover the entire back?
        i don't like the blue colour :(

        • it does cover the whole back

  • +1

Shame its 2GB :((((( I would instabuy if it was 3GB

    • +2

2 is fine on this phone, you are thinking Samsungs that need 4-6gb just to function properly.

  • -3

    Anyone seen this:

    http://becextech.com.au/catalog/mobile-phones-lg-handset-lg-…

    Is it legit?

    5x for $438.95 (364 + 75 delivery charge)

    • Yes, but why on earth would anyone care?

      • I have never heard of becextech…

    • greyed, not worth considered.

  • Does this model support dual SIM?

    • no

  • I'm confused between Nexus 5X (this deal) or LG G4 (Kogan ebay).

    • me too was looking on deal for G4..since i own/use N5 now, no hesitation to move to 5x…

    • I upgraded from the Nexus 5 to the G4 last year when it was about $440.
Only thing I miss is the updates (the G4 does have 6.0 now which is nice), and easy root/unroot (G4 root cannot be undone and voids warranty).

That said, if I still had the Nexus 5, I'd def upgrade to the 5X for this price
