      • Haha true, and Vapiano's would get sour grapes and never do offer again haha

    • +1

      Doctor's orders?

  • +1

any idea if we can chip in a few bucks to get the pasta we want? :P

    • +1

I imagine you show the voucher and your ID when you exit/pay, they would deduct $17 from what you have paid on the Vapiano card.

      • +2

Okay don't do that. The lady at the check out tried but manager stepped in and said no.

        • +2

Yeah I tried that last time, they said just this one time, but not again.

        • Thanks for the heads up, your experience is avoiding a lot of embarrassment for others

        • +1

          @lovepeoplenotmoney:

Depends on the cashier is my guess. I ordered an $18 pizza and took my chances. Asked the cashier (a dude who works there, not a manager) how it works and he said, I'll just take $17 off the total, so I paid $1 (on my ING 2% paywave card too might I add!). He didn't even check my ID.

If you are going to the Flinders Lane one in Melb, I suggest you arrive and order before 12pm. I just before 12pm and it wasn't busy, but still had to wait 20 mins.

          Been

        • @Been: Great, thanks for the heads up

        • @Been: Oh wow that's crazy! They always make it right in front of me, and it's just a few minutes.

    • I got it today at Bris CBD and they let me chip in a few bucks for a different pizza :)

Will try other locations when i get around to it

  • Didn't get the email… hmmm :/

  • +1

Got the email. Says 2 gold but only one voucher, so not sure what's up with that. Only valid until 18th of August, but otherwise no special conditions that I can see.

    • +2

Actually, not valid Friday and Saturday is a bummer.

  • +1

Didnt receive email, anyone can forward the email to me please?

    • me too

      • +1

Won't work, voucher has name on it plus they'll be checking ID.

    • The email contains your name and serves as proof so forwarding won't help you.

  • The email has your name in it so you have to receive it, did u check spam?

Anyway i thought the deal was a voucher for each gold medal but this is clearly 1 voucher for our TWO golds ?? They are gipping us !

    • Nobody says you can't use it twice though

    • +1

If that's the case then there's no point cheering on Australia anymore. They've done their bit and represented my stomach well.

  • Another condition (found on Facebook) the offer only applies to $17 or under range of pizza and pastas.

    Edit:
    Sorry already posted above!

  • +1

Used at Surfers Paradise - no problems and takeaway ok :)

    • How many did you order?

      • 1 each

        • Do they actually check and compare ID details like date of birth against your Fanatico registration?

        • +1

they didn't check date of birth, just name on email and license

  • Great!!! but they mention a shout for each GOLD! so we get 2 pizza or 2 pasta or just one

Whats happen aussie win more gold tonight at swimming? next day, then next day etc etc?

  • Any limit on the number of coupons per table/person?

  • +4

Looking at the melbourne store pasta's. there seems to be no meat on pastas under $17.

    • +1

Yeah I'll be getting mine as take away, taking it home and adding some meat to the pasta.

  • +1

Sydney has no meat pasta or pizza dishes for $17 or less. Can we buy a $18 or $20 item and just pay the difference?

    • Yes, you can.

    • Just received this from Vapiano Flinders Lane, assume it's the same everywhere.

"You can only order a pizza or pasta up to and including the value of $17. If you order something above $17, you need to pay the full price. However, if you order a $17 meal with extra chicken, for example, you only pay $4 for the chicken. Enjoy!"

      • +2

I asked Vapiano (Australia) the question on facebook via message and they said. "Yes you may order a $17 the pizza or pasta as a 100% discount and then pay full price for the extras. The extras are treated just a separate item on the bill."

So we can order a $17 pizza or pasta, add chicken or ham or some meat, (given they are all vegetarian) and just pay the 'gap'.

Do not order a $18 or $20 pizza and think you can pay the difference as that is not allowed…for some strange reason…….

        • +2

I went last night, ordered a pizza and pasta. We called up earlier and the "Morning Manager" had quoted us that we will pay the difference. Upon paying, we were given a $42 bill and the "Night Manager" apologised that the "Morning Manager" was incorrect and we still had to pay the $42. The "Night Manager" was insincere about the apology and kept insisting we pay the full price. He shrugged with 'deal-with-it' attitude.

          @madfree:

          Did you just walk out?

        • @madfree: Location would be helpful?….

        • +2

          @PainToad:
No, I paid the full price of $42. Walked out disappointed and reluctantly accepted "complimentary drink vouchers" with T&Cs

          @cheapy:
My bads, It was at Vapiano King Street, Sydney

    • +1

Com'on guys, let's be veg this time!

  • +2

I see this quickly going pear shaped. They are now saying one voucher per day despite multiple golds (didn't see this on the T&C's anywhere). Taking that into consideration we should still have at least two vouchers (as we are up to three gold, 2 on one day 1 on another).

    • +2

They can limit it like that of they want to (in my book anyway). Sure, they didn't say that originally but it's something free that they didn't have to do, you don't even need to be a customer of theirs, but anything else or anything.

Hell. It would still be a good deal if it was just a free garlic bread :-)

Enjoy!"

  • Registered on website but received no email.

I think they've cut it off at a certain number.

    So no deal here.

  • Has anyone actually done this and ate it in the place?

    • If you are in Melbourne..yes I did get a free pizza!!

Make sure it is $17 or under. I noticed lot of ppl showing their phones before exiting..some even had to pay as their orders were over $17….looks like the staff wasn't too impressed though..but who cares..as long as you have the email.

  • +1

Just got my first free pizza. My mate wasn't so lucky. Make sure you only order items that are below $17 or expect to pay the full price! You CANNOT pay the difference. Despite it not specifically saying it in the T&C's, they will not allow you to pay the difference (i.e. order $19 dish use voucher and pay $2).

If the dish allows for extras such as extra bacon, extra cheese etc you will be able to pay for those add ons.

    • Yeah, the offer says it's for things under $17 but I went in and ordered something over and expected to pay the difference because of the post on their Facebook page.

So yeah, it does specifically say that it's something to the value of $17, not that it's a voucher for $17 off. At least on the webpage etc.

You can, however, order something under $17 and get extras and just pay for the extras.

Not wrote as good as before but it's still a bloody great deal.

Got a Salami pizza for lunch in Brisbane today. This was at midday and the guy serving me had heard of the deal but hadn't processed one yet (I thought there would have been lots of people getting this), but he asked the manager and they just pushed the "Promotion" and "100% off" buttons on the screen and all was done. He didn't require me to show ID, he didn't record that I'd already 'used up' my free Pizza. Very easy and Pizza was tasty - thanks Vapiano!

    • thanks.. im gonna goto brisbane city tomorrow for luncheon, might get the spinach pizza .. nice to know it worked without issue

    • btw what size are the pizzas? are they pretty pissy, like is 1 pizza a reasonable meal for 1 person or ?

      • Large

  • I got two emails but realised I put my initials and not my full first name :( !!!

I can see myself getting turned away…oh what a rookie error by me

    • Ouch, yeah, I did that and re-subscribed when I got the first email. Adam (in the comment just above yours) said they didn't check ID, so you could try anyway? Or sign up again with your name and wait for the fourth gold (hopefully!) we get..

    • Hey, If you check the email from Vapiano, you can see a link that says 'Preferences'… Click on that and you will be able to update your name there…

That way, the next time Australia strikes gold, you can get an email with your full name! 😊

P.S. I had made the same mistake as well! Lol.. 😄

      • thank you!! I just did that…but I also signed up with a different email too haha. Did you happen to try with your initial email anyway?

        • No no.. I didn't try that..

Didn't want to risk forking out $17 on a pizza if they checked for ID and refused the offer! 😊

  • +1

Got the second email. Same T&Cs. (Valid until 18th August, Sun-Thurs)

    • my second email had different T&Cs

This time it said you can order extras on a $17 or less dish and pay for those alone (this was absent from first email)

      • Ah, yes, I was only looking at the validity.

I'll paste the full version here for anyone curious..
'* Free pizza or pasta to the value of $17 or under only. Extras can be added to the deal and will be charged as separate items. Offer is only available Sunday through Thursday up to and including Thursday 18 August at all Vapiano restaurants around Australia. Offer is not valid with any other deal and may only be used for one item. Fanaticos must present their ID and this email containing their name to claim offer. Fanaticos are entitled to one voucher and one complimentary meal per day regardless of if Australia wins multiple gold medals. '

  • Just got the pizza at King street in Sydney ..I ordered 17 dollars pasta but they happily accepted the extra 5 dollars from my mate who ordered a 22 dollar pizza..

  • +1

Shout out to my fellow ozbargainers at Flinders Lane tonight. Think there were quite a few of us there at 6pm.

  • I was just reading the reviews for Vapianos and although generally positivem there were a nbr of ppl complaining about waiting 20-40 minutes for the meal and having to stand around? Is it very inconvenient, can anyone comment?

    • It wasn't that way for me, I was there about 5:30ish.

      Also, it's free :-)

      • yeah sounds like you picked a good time.. i'll try and go after lunch rush so from 2pm onwards maybe..

also i know i shouldnt complain but im going with the wife so it'll be one free and 1 not free meal so if it's a lot of hassle, still a bit annoying

        • +2

Get her to join up, order the meals separately and then use both vouchers and then both free :-)

  • Melbourne - waste of time. I got there 11:40am, my order was second one as there was no queue for pizza, but plenty of people waiting to order pasta. I left after 35 mins and being promised twice that my pizza is almost there. And it wasn't just me.

Too hectic and unorganised, waitresses were preparing pizzas as well. I can do it home as well I guess.

And it's not like it's free so I can't complain - I've just wasted an entire lunch break even though I arrived early.

    • I ordered my pizza just before 12pm and got it after about 20 mins.

Might try pasta next time, they cook it on the spot so you know it's coming.

      • They cook pizza in front of you as well and it looked like up to ten minutes waiting, given my pie was literally second at the time. You were lucky then, not like me and the people I was standing with after patiently spending some 25+ mins at the table.

BTW, I didn't really like the idea of how you order there, but well, was suppossed to be free.

        • Agreed,

I thought I'd be clever and call ahead for takeaway but was told you need to order in person, even if it's takeaway

    • That was what i was worried about - i posted about this issue above

      • I really wanted to check out the size of pizza and reply to your other comment man! Bummer

        • The pizza is about the same size as a large from elsewhere.

  • They getting smashed at Albert Lane, Brisbane.

    • sigh i was about to go in for lunch at that venue.. hmm maybe i should goto Taro's for some nice ramen instead..

      • +1

        They gonna regret this promotion

    • +1

Flinders Lane in Melbourne got Ozbargain'd badly! Full of people. At the entrance counter they were trying to drive people away by saying there is a 30-40 minute wait!!

They even ran out of pastas on the shelf & had to restock. Felt bad for the staff as they were under the pump!

      • they front counter lady looked so grumpy @ albert lane

        • yeah i went in and had a look and there was quite a lot of ppl just standing around waving their dicks in the air so i thought, nah, i'll just go down to men ya go and have ramen instead hjaha

  • +3

Tried it last night (Monday) at 7:20pm at Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Knowing what I learnt here I made sure to ask the counter lady of the offer.

"Order any pizza or pasta above $17 and you just pay the difference", was what she said.

There wasn't a queue for ordering pizza but I had to wait 40 mins to pick-up my pizza. My wife stood in the queue for 50 mins to an hour to finally order and get her pasta. I fed her in the line with my pizza.

When paying the rather nice gentleman asked us, "Are you using vouchers? Don't worry about showing it or your ID" and promptly scanned my card and applied the discount.

We mentioned how busy it was and he said that management had not anticipate the popularity of the promotion and pointed out how they ran out of pizzas not long ago. They also ran out of some pasta types. To sum it up: it was crazy, long waits; average food; but will do it again with caution by visiting earlier.

Vapiano should pick up their game and hire more staff to cope with the demand as the customer experience when ordering was terrible, the opposite of the chic venue and the prices you would normally pay.

    • That's crazy! I'm about to head over there now, ordering take away to be ready when I get there though.

      • +1

They do take away, even after you've ordered - you get a rather large, and surprisingly high-quality, Vapiano-branded plastic container that's reusable!

        • I ended up getting pizza toppings no pizza (that are GF). Pasta line was long! And they don't do phone orders, even though we're neighbouring buildings!

    • -1

You are right. They should definitely pick up their game so they can give you more free stuff faster.

What a bunch of inconsiderate tools.

  • Didn't Australia win gold in the rugby 7s today?

    • +2

They're too ozbargained to send out emails. The entire marketing team is flipping pies and stirring pasta sauces.

      • The line was about 18 people, three people in the kitchen.

  • +2

These free meals are getting harder to obtain - 6 hours over 3 days! Gold from the Rugby 7s conditions:

Offer is only available 2pm to 4pm on Monday 15 August, Tuesday 16 August and Wednesday 17 August 2016.

    • Looks like late lunch next week.

    • +3

Yeah, just got that one too. Don't think I'll be able to cash any of my vouchers, what a shame. If the old vouchers still work at any time, might be able to grab a lunch pizza, but suspect it will be packed at lunch and not sure if feasible. No point in trying the new vouchers at all.

Edit: conditions gone from free pizza every gold => free pizza voucher every day we win one or more golds, not valid Thursdays and Friday's => only redeemable 2 specific hours over 3 specific days.

Wonder what next voucher will be like. First 20 people on Wednesday after 3pm?

      • +1

Are u serious? wtf are they doing?

        • They are dealing with being OzBargained. What did you expect?

It's free. Take the conditions of don't take the freebie.

      • They must still honour the old vouchers anytime from Sunday-Thursday, right?

  • SO im guessing you cant get the free pasta from yesterdays medal, as today's medal conditions overides that?
Its now only 2pm to 4pm on Monday 15 August, Tuesday 16 August and Wednesday 17 August 2016"

    Thats a week away now…

    • +2

Well, can we show them the earlier email that has less restrictions? People can unsubscribe and not getting the latest emails so it might probably work.
