Coles - Prepaid $10 Triple Sim Card for $2

900

From the Coles mobile website this sim card has the following inclusions once activated:

  • Unlimited Talk - standard national calls
  • Unlimited Text - Standard national sms & mms
  • 1GB
  • 10 day expiry

Powered by the Optus 4G network.

Edit: some people are commenting that they are not able to order online. I made it all the way to the payment section so it can be done. If you are having difficulties online then I am unsure why and you should check your local Coles for stock.

$2 dollars for 1GB is pretty good

Are these starter packs or recharges?

    • These look like starter packs but I cannot confirm if you can use them as recharges or not

      • And that leaves me hanging for the witty answer that started like a funny sarcastic "maybe".

  • when is the latest to activate it?

    • It depends on the expiry date on the back of the pack.

    • They expire at 1 Dec 2016 in my local store.

Any delivery costs? Available in stores?

    • +1

$50 minimum order for click and collect. It should be available in store as well.

      • At the counter scan show $10 (Morley, WA)

    • "Sorry! You haven’t reached our $50 minimum
To checkout, you need to order over $50" —- message from Coles online

  • Are they selling this instore?

    • Yes they should sell them in store

    • Yep. Just purchased one in-store at Rundle St Mall, SA

Getting "Product not found error" when adding to trolley

    • +1

      Same

    • I did not have this issue. If you are unable to buy online the prices will be the same in store.

  • How do you buy this?

    • +10

      With money.

  • Price match?

    • +1

with who, woollies? for a coles sim? lol

Not much stock left around, tried many stores, no success as yet? Anyone, any luck in Melbourne?

    • +1

C&C available from coburg. anyone unable to get hit me up if in melbourne.

"Sorry! You haven’t reached our $50 minimum To checkout, you need to order over $50"

So OP, did you buy 25 sims'?

    • +6

Um no your total shopping needs to be over $50 before you can checkout…you don't have to purchase 25 sims

  • What does "10 day expiry" mean? After credit has gone, you have 10 days to recharge?

    • +3

      Credit only lasts 10 days.

      • That's so confusing. Why would anyone spend $10 on mobile connectivity that you were forced to use it a bit over a week?

        • +10

          Because $2

        • +4

It's suitable for people on business trips.

        • +3

when doing the "port in port out" thing?

        • +6

For tourists who are only here for 10 days or less?

Or if they are recharges (says $10 recharge included) then you can probably load up on recharges at the beginning as a once off (I did that for amaysim)

        • +2

          @Brissy1:

This (port in/out thing) is the only use I can think of for these other than relos or friends from overseas that need a short sim card

        • +5

I like to load up my 4G Hotspot Dongle on road trips so the kids can play their iPads. This is beneficial to me.

        • +2

Some people only top up $10 at a time for budgeting and other reasons. It's a product differentiation from all the other prepaid mobile offers (available at the supermarket).

It also isn't bad from a loyalty perspective: if people come to Coles for their weekly recharge, they might do their grocery shop there as well, rather than somewhere else.

        • Ok, I stand corrected! Thanks for the replies.

    10-day expiry….

    Cannot be ordered online???

    "Product not found error
The product you are looking for can not be found."

    • Nope I made it all the way to the payment section with 12 sim cards in my cart (I didn't complete the order as i don't need that many).

  • +1

twas only a matter of time, I guess their specials to flog them off at $5 didnt go too well. $2 isnt bad considering it gets you nothing on the other networks.

  • +1

I got 5 at Southland Coles. Not sure how many they had left, had to ask at the counter for the cards. Expiry for the cards are 1 December 2016.

    • less than 4 months expiry

    • That'll get you a few uber discounts :)

      • +1

        get lyca free sim :)

    • +1

Are they recharge or starter packs?

      • +1

        Starter packs

  • For those of you having trouble adding to cart, you need to select another location. I had this issue too but when I selected C&C from a Coles that is not my closest but nearby, it worked.

    • even you selected (C&C) you still see this:
"Sorry! You haven’t reached our $50 minimum
To checkout, you need to order over $50."

  • +1

Just was able to purchase 12 in store at Coles Petrie Terrace (Brisbane) still about 10 remaining

December 2016 expiry as others have reported

    • Is there an issue activating multiple sims with the same ID?

      • Not generally, if you have more than 5 I believe you are supposed to provide more ID but the website did not ask.

  • I wonder if anyone has had any luck activating these sims past their expiry date? I need to use a few of them in mid December -.-

  • what is the process for activating these cards?
Is there a lot of work involved?

    Thinking of UBER credt =D

    • What's the story with Uber credit?

  • will these work as google play credit?

    • +1

No mate. Only Telstra starter packs do.

  • Can I buy instore for this price op?

    • +2

      yes

  • Then $6 30days. Good deal, just have a look!

  • Why don't people buy heaps of these instead of paying $40+ per month for a plan?

    • +3

If you want to keep the same number then it's a bit of a pain porting in and out (especially in this case as the credit only lasts 10 days). But if you don't mind changing numbers, then this is a good deal. Just need to activate a new sim every 10 days.

      • Ahh I see, makes sense.

      • Then you have to let your friends know everytime you have a new number..

        • +3

Thats only if you have friends

        • @ballsofsteel: friends are overrated.

          a) You cant ask them for money

          b) If you ask them to do a favour for you, you've got to return favours.

          Not a bargain

  • Can this sim call premium numbers?

  • +1

My Coles has heaps of $2 starter sims. But I cant see any "$10 for $2" sims.

    • +2

Did you ask at the service desk? Mine had plenty of the $2 on display but the $10 ones were in a cupboard at the service desk.

  • Any cheap phones to go with this?

  • No stock in belmont and cannington WA

  • I just bought 3 at Coles Parkmore. Probably a few left.

  • Any updates on the stock for this??

    • Coles & Optus $10 prepaid Sim starter kits for $2, are advertised in this weeks 10/8/16 - 16/8 coles catalogue page 36, restricted at 1 per customer, avail 2/8 - 6/9 in store. No rainchecks.
I purchased a Coles kit in store (pack expires on 01 Dec 2016), took the service operator a while to find, located with counter stock, in a smallish sealed white light wt cardboard container which only contained 5 packs.

    • Tested on two stores ( popular ones) . they don't have in stock. Actually they never had since weekly promotion started. Said they Don't know when it will be "re"stock

They don't provide rain check as well.

  • Went to haynes WA, plenty of stock for optus $10 sim and coles $10 sim..

  • is this the same price in coles express as well ?

  • Has anyone activated a Coles SIM and got it to work in an Optus locked mobile ?

  • If you have the time to spare, it's worth looking through the Coles prepaid kits on display stands. Last night I found a $10 kit buried inside a stack of $2 SIMs and it scanned at $2. Though a staff member had to authorise that purchase, probably to counter brodening, which seems pointless given that there are hardly any left. Judging from the short expiry date Coles is phasing this product out, it won't be restocked and you won't get rainchecks.

  • Plenty available at Figtree NSW tonight.
