Aussie dollar is at $76c too :)

No LED or fancy cooler .. just a simple GTX 1070 bare bone.

    • +1

Seems to have LEDs according to a review …

      • strange it doesn't state it on the product page. Are they RGB ?

        • +1

They might be referring to another version of the card, probably the G1.

I checked the product page too and it doesn't state that it has any RGB lighting.

  • +4

Finally approaching the prices it should be at :D

It's a shame the Windforce version of a 1070 only has 2 fans and makes the cooler look.. pretty bad.

  • +4

Tempted … but I think there's lower prices to be had soon.

    • +2

I grabbed myself two ASUS Radeon ROG STRIX RX 470 OC 4GB cards for
      $199+$14US Delivered($280AU Each)
More then enough graphics card for my 1080P Need. (To go inside two PC's)

  • +1

Too bad, I picked up the MSI Gaming X 1070 off Amazon for a much higher price. I do prefer MSI's 8+6 pin power though.

    • Does that make any difference?

      • +3

Maybe for pushing OC, and the bragging rights. I have the Gaming X and love it, but I also paid a hefty premium for the privilege. I'll admit I was swayed by the sexy cooler and shiny lights though. The red LEDs make it go faster, right?

      • +1

Probably wouldn't at 150-190 W consumption, but I'm trying to find excuses not to have buyer's remorse!

        • +1

If it helps I have a Gigabyte card but use the MSI software because the Gigabyte one sucks

        • -2

Higher draw on these cards draws far better results, the Zotac Amp! Range can draw 30% more and far out perform the vanilla cards.

        • MSI is probably better with warranty vs gigabyte. My cousin bought a gtx 780 lightning off of amazon, then one day it just died. I'm not sure if he contacted amazon or directly to MSI, but apparently MSI has an office somewhere in sydney so he was able to just go there and have them send it off. They even lent him a 780 to use during the RMA process.

  • +1

I'm tempted to get it but if there's an issue how quickly will Amazon replace it?

  • +2

Still waiting on my 28 degrees card in the mail.. but I think Im still gonna go EVGA anyway.

    • +1

If you buy local stock it doesn't really matter, but buying internationally, as much as I want this deal, EVGA are the only ones with decent international warranty

  • So tempting. I got my ASUS one for ~$608 delivered from Amazon a few weeks ago.

  • Wow great price

  • I got a g1 gaming from amazon for 429 usd like 2 weeks ago.

  • +1

gah mine delivered yesterday from amazon for $605 delivered.
    Great price!

  • +1

So no warranty outside the amazon 30 days?

  • +3

    List Price: $973.18

    LOL

  • +1

    Nice post, good deal

I'll pass on this card myself - but I have been on the lookout, this is great price Lyl.

    Cheers

  • would an i7 6700 bottleneck this, im leaning towards 1060 as it seems a bit wasteful.

    • +1

      No.

    • No way

    • +5

      http://www.anandtech.com/show/10540/the-geforce-gtx-1060-fou…

"The end result, then is that GTX 1060 offers 73% of the performance for what’s (on paper) 66% of the price"

Neither card is any good at 4k Gaming .. even the GTX1080 still isnt delivering 60FPS 4k in new games.

I think we will need to wait for the GTX1080ti (3840 Cores) and AMD Fury 2 (6072 Cores) with HBM2 Memory at 1000GB's p/s to get smooth 4k

The current 2560 cores on the GTX1080 with only 320GB's p/s memory just isn't good enough

2017 is going to be a very exciting time to be buying video cards with almost twice the performance of the current GTX1080

I wonder what the prices will be set at ^_^

      • In july 2017 any overseas purchases alis taxed 10% more

        • Fingers crossed our retailers wont get greedy and take advantage of this fact.. at least we will have cards out from both AMD and Nvidia to choose from so it may keep the RRPing low.

        • +1

What? So we already have a problem in Australia with the 'Australia tax' and we go and raise it even further? Astounding.

        • -3

@loftizle: well the retailers still need to compete with each other

      • The 1060 is definitely a viable option but the percentages speak to the USA RRP prices.
There is limited supply of local 1060's, my mate ordered an EVGA 1060 SC for $409 + $20 shipping, already 1.5 weeks past the original ETA.
He cancelled his order and ordered one of these 1070s.

This deal versus the Local EVGA 1060 SC @ $429 skews out the percentages to 73% performance for 80% of the price

      • Always waiting blah blah heard it all before 2017 is going to have maybe 2 releases from both companies (amd 490 & fury) & (Nvidia 1080ti & Titan) both with 1k+ prices that's a fact if your lucky its going to be very average year dude!

    • I'm running my 1070 with an i5 6400.. No CPU limits in any of the games I'm playing and the GPU has hit every title @ 1080p without any hiccups!

  • Comes up as $399.99 USD for me?

    • with Delivery = $411.41

      • Oh cool thanks.

  • I got the EVGA 1070 FTW for $640, worth it for the warrenty, Anyone know how long it takes for them to arrive? Amazon is telling me the 17th but I am impatient. Also the most expensive I have ever bought online.

    • They said mine would be here on the 5th, arrived at parcelpoint on the 3rd, waited in customs at tulla for about a week.

      • I swear If I find out is in Perth or something I will just drive to get it, I only live a hour away.

    • YMMV, but I got mine a week before the Amazon ETA.

      • Yay hopefully here early next week if the trend follows.

        • +1

Got it today, 4 days before Amazon's eta.

    • I received mine about a week ago. Took about 10 calendar days all up

The ftw is fantastic. Mine boosted to 2012 out of the box no tweaking

120fps solid in 4k on rocket league

    • +2

got mine 1070 SC from amazon in july, order @6th arrive @20th.

i have bought many stuff from amazon to Perth. which usually takes 2 weeks.

(1 day from amazon to australia, 2 weeks from australia to australia)

    • I got my evga 1070 sc delivered in 7 days with standard shipping from amazon

    • Double post.

    • -1

You paid $640 to buy from OS/Amazon? When you could have just walked into PCCG today (if in Melb, otherwise get delivered) and picked up the EVGA SC version for only $39 more… https://www.pccasegear.com/products/35787/evga-geforce-gtx-1…

      • So, you're saying that JustA SmoothSkin should pay $60 more ($39 difference plus $21 postage minimum) for a lower specced product which has international warranty anyway.

Of course, if you were comparing like with like, the FTW version from there is listed at $729 (plus $21 postage). So really, he's saved himself $110 from buying from amazon. What's your problem with this exactly? Someone could buy themselves 16gb of good DDR4 ram for the amount of money saved here.

You do realise you're on ozbargain…

        • Not i'm not "saying" that - I was pointing out that the PCCG price for the SC version is only $39 more than what JustASmoothSkin paid for a very similar overall product from OS.

I would put $39 down as well within the reasonable threshold to cover ALL the benefits of buying locally (instant pickup, rma and warranty etc.)

Sure, if the difference was over $100 more like the example you stringed together, then by all means you could wait a few extra weeks for the OS one to rock up (touch wood it's not a Lemon though).

      • I live in Perth and it usually takes a working week for anything to arrive from pccg.

  • +4

Holy crap, i didn't know that I needed a new gpu until just now

  • Note that this one has no backplate.

    • +1

Pardon my ignorance but what is the effect from this?

      • for extra heat sink, better looking, prevents dust from reaching the pcb from the back, extra support for pcb on heavier card with multiple fans.

        • Problem with backplate on graphics card is you may have trouble installing it on some motherboards if you also have huge CPU air cooler (e.g. Noctua NH-15D) installed. Those CPU cooler fins will be pressing against the backplate.

      • +1

tbh, it is super fine for not having one.

like how many of us get to use black plate in the old days?

(and ofc to today's standard, BP is a must, but still, at some point, the extra $$ save more for some ppl)

  • -2

Thank god all these current 1070 cards are too long for my case, I just bought a house so have no money anyway, but all these cheaper prices keep tempting me so badly!

    • Just add it to the mortgage, it won't break a sweat there :)

      • Haha true, doesn't help the fact none of them will fit so far :P Waiting on something like the Asus 1070 Turbo (like the 970 Turbo) which is currently in the case. Everything else is too long!!

  • +1

Dam you just ordered one.. ETA says 25th hope i get it earlier. In the meantime i have to find a filter on here so that i can block out further deals on these so i don't see a better deal pop up and regret it.

  • hows gigabyte doing with coil whine? coz that is my one and only concern overanything…

  • Current price listed is $470

  • -1

God damn. Wait for rx480 OC cards to properly release or just bite the bullet and get this…? Decisions…

    • well at $470 US plus shipping is no longer a great deal. Problem solved

      • Ohhh didn't realise it went to 470 now. Thanks for letting me know!

  • Has anyone had theirs shipped yet?

    • Ordered 8th August received yesterday (18th) so 10 calendar days.
Got charged $551 by my bank (Amazon conversion was $560, so $9 saved).
Gotta install this baby tonight and run some benchmarks, although I know it's going to blow my old R9 280x,not to mention the 7850 that I'm running now since I sold the 280X!

  • Merged from Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC US $411.41 (~AU $546) Delivered @ Amazon

Hey guys long time viewer first time poster. I know alot of people missed out on this deal the last time Amazon lowered the price on this GTX 1070 luckily its back. its a great card and i bought one the last time the deal was on so i thought i should pay it forward. enjoy :)

    • will be sub 500 soon.

    • -1

      Hmm this plus a ~$1k monitor… Vs RX480 plus a $400 monitor… Tough call.

Edi: FPS cost more than Gold ;)

      • Why not a ~$500 monitor and 1070?

        • +2

Because to enjoy the benefits of running a 1070 you would want a 1440p@144hz plus gsync.

Where the rx480 needs a 1080p@144hz plus freesync.

          • +3

@Grish: Well really you'd be better off comparing an RX480 to a GTX 1060 considering their similar performance and price point. And both of those cards are more suited to 1080p gaming IMO, there's no way you're getting anywhere near 144FPS @ 1440p on either of those cards unless everything is on or near "low" settings.

Of course GSYNC and Freesync will help with this, and would probably make the ~50-60fps you're getting in 1440p on most games acceptable, if the game didn't require extreme twitch aim and a little input lag is acceptable.

          • +8

@Grish: True. G-Sync itself is about $200-$300 premium over monitors with Free-Sync. A bit of a rip-off from Nvidia.

          • @Grish: @edfoo:

Recently read / watched a yourtube video that with Vulcan/DX12 the performance of the RX480 is somewhere between 1060 and 1070. Something about the AMD drivers aren't very good as compared to Nvidia and AMD cards needed to be more OP to compete with Nvidia. With Vulcan/DX12 it doesn't need to go through the AMD drivers which is why it appears to perform better in DX12 games. So if money is an issue perhaps the AMD option is better for long term purposes?

      • +1

rx 480 + a korean 1440p monitor with freesync seems good enough for me

        • -1

You're going to have trouble driving that resolution with that card at 60 FPS let alone 90 or 120 or whatever your monitor yields as far as refresh rate.

          • +1

@Diji1: Maybe if you try for ultra settings.. but for value for money, once the rx 480 comes down closer to its listing price, its hard to beat

          • @Diji1: That is what freesync is for. Those freesync monitors doesn't go higher than about 77Hz. But still makes it silky smooth.

    • +4

Good price, but must resist and wait for the 1080's to come down more.

    • +4

How does Windforce compare to Gamer G1?

      • Slightly less clock speed. One less fan (but larger). No backplate. No LED light. For all intents and purposes pretty similar otherwise including overclocking potential.

        • Sounds better to me. Bigger fan means less noise, one less fan means even less noise. LEDs and backplates are useless to me because I can't see the card inside the case anyway. I don't intend to OC it.

    • -6

Have nvidia fixed the drivers yet?

      • They fixed them last night. I just checked.

    • Why is the price of 1080 not coming down too :(

    • +1

Like others have said, 1080 is where its at. Not worth going from a 980TI to a 1070 (and tbh, I'm not entirely convinced going to a 1080 is worth it either).

I really wish AMD would hurry up and release Vega, but that's Q1 2017, which could be as far away as April.

      • +1

I'd say going from a GTX 580 to a 1070 is worth it. Especially as I have no desire to play games above 1080p.

        • +3

Oh for sure, that'd be a good upgrade. I'm not ripping on the 1070 btw, and this is a pretty good price (if I didn't own a 980TI I'd probably be all over this).

      • Only if you were crazy enough to buy a 980TI in the first place

      • I have a 980ti and a 1070 in different PC's.

I upgraded from a 970 because I knew someone who needed a card and I had a bit of spare cash. So far I have found the cards to be pretty on par with each other so an upgrade isn't worth it (maybe for gains in VR if you have a vr headset?).

Even the 1080 isn't worth the upgrade from a 980ti at this stage.

I think I'll upgrade the 980ti when the 1180ti comes out unless I get a VR headset.

    • Will wait for sub $500 or price drops on 1080's. Also would prefer EVGA as it has global warranty. My major system update won't be till Kaby lake anyway
