Chuck it in the glovebox and stream Spotify.

You could do that with a brand new $29 Android phone…

Felt the need to post on this one.
I have been watching these iphone 5c refurbs for the past 2 months and have watched the price decrease from 200 to 140.
Whilst this does seem like a fantastic deal, the reasoning behind the 30% reduction in price over the last month is the seller is trying to get rid of stock that will become useless once Apple announces it will not be provided with the IOS11 update at the release of the Iphone 7 next month.
So whilst this is very cheap, keep in mind that it will have support from apple for max - 1 year (before they stop supporting it) and it is a refurb….
Good luck if you do decide to grab one.

    • iOS 10 is coming out next month, along with the new iPhone.

Apple's page for iOS 10 shows the iPhone 5c as still compatible.

There's a very good chance that it won't be compatible with iOS 11 come September 2017, but more than a year of use for $140 sounds pretty reasonable.

      • Not to mention it will still run fine on iOS 10 even after iOS 11 releases next year

        • It's personal preference but personally having used an iphone 4 on ios7, once ios 8 came out, the vast majority of updates and new apps required ios 8 as a minimum to support it. So whilst it still functions as a phone, depending on how dependant you are on applications, you won't be able to update/use a large majority of them afterwards. If $140 for a year is worth it to you, then by all means.

  • Any suggestions for cases that look good but avoid screen smash when dropped by 12 year old?

I have gotten a glass screen protector.

    Otterbox commuter?
    The genuine apple cover?

It is coming up at $179 for me.

me too, not sure how to get the $140 price

Seller revised the listing. Probably saw it was priced too cheap and jacked up the price. Was about to buy one for my Dad

        • they got them for $159 now on another listing

    • +1

They just jacked the prices up :(
Not that it affects me, decided not to buy.

  • lol

  • You're kids are smarter than you, so why "For my kids, 8GB is enough"?
    :-)

  • It's a good thing that your name is PhuongDat and not Phuc Dat.Otherwise I wouldn't be bother listening to your advice.

I see on the eBay listing that it says these can be American or Japanese iPhone's (as well as AU). You cannot choose. I wonder if issues would be encountered if you get an American or Japanese model that does not include all 3G and 4G wireless bands in Australia?

    • yep, I received an A1532 American model

    BEST GPS ON THE MARKET!
grab a phone suction mount and throw a SIM card in it, or tether from your existing phone.
Install Google maps and you will always know where the traffic is and the fastest way to go. I've tried dozens of GPS on the market and i tell you now GOOGLE MAPS is where it's at. Oh and like old mate said can stream Spotify aswell.
Can you add a data sim to your plan for this??
Not with Telstra they limit data sims only to tablets and mobile devices not phones :(, so you have to buy a wifi dongle or tether.

Bought a 5S 64GB which they claimed was new. Had the phone checked by a technician and most parts, if not all, were non-genuine.

    • +1

That's how they keep costs down. Genuine parts are pretty expensive and will pretty much wipe out any profits made from selling a hack job refurb

  • Damn was too late Would have picked this up if i saw this yesterday my dads iphone 5 recently died would have been a great cheap replacement, tried to give him my windows phone but it was "too confusing to use" haha.

so much money for a crap phone!

  • Shame. decided to get it, went to buy and price got jacked by $40. Bummer.

  • I do not understand the purpose to buy a re-furbished 5c for kids. First of all, it does not have warranty so you have to rely on that ebay seller to honor his/her promise if product is faulty. Also, 5c is relatively old phone while many school kids are having 5s, 6 or 6s.

Personally, if I have to buy a phone for my kid, I would spend $150 for a phone like that

    http://www.everbuying.net/product1201470.html?utm_source=maiā€¦

It does NOT have local warranty but it is a brand new phone. It has 5.5 inch screen and much better speed, camera, storage and battery life you kids ever want.

Please be sure that I am not trying to promote this phone or this supplier. I have even written some neg comments of this supplier. My point is phone like that around $150 mark could be a better choice from my point of view.

  • phone arrived, seems to be ok other than battery running out pretty fast
