From the top question on Amazon:

They're Panasonic branded, not Sanyo, and listed on the packaging as having 2100 recharge cycles, not 1800, so based on that they are obviously BK-3MCC (or gen 4 if you want to use that term) batteries. Also, having bought these already, once you get them out of the package, that model number is printed on the batteries themselves, just nowhere on the external packaging, so not always visible on sealed packaging. Also note that the charger included in this particular SKU package is one of the worse ones, it's timer based, not using an IC to check for negative delta-V peak charge, so if you're digging into specs, check either the alternate chargers available from Panasonic (they do make better ones than this), or pickup batteries without the charger included for less money, and buy a much better Maha charger with individual charging detection for all cells independently.

    • Still seems decent. So I gather the Sanyo one's are still the best ones?

  • Finally caved after years of avoiding the Eneloop curse and bought that Nitecore D4 charger from the other day, what would be my best option for purchasing Eneloops for it? I see a lot of packs with chargers in them, are they the most cost-effective (throw away/put included charger in draw)?

    • I think at the moment buying something like this is an ok deal if you already have a good charger especially seeing as they are Panasonic brand as the post above suggests. There have been cheaper deals and might be cheaper in the future as with anuthing. I have been using the same 16 I bought a few years ago as all I need them for is an Xbox remote for my pc and roku remote.

Although after reading some posts on other eneloop deals I am going to try the Ikea ones out.

I bought the Ikea ones and they are worse in real life capacity than my first gen Sanyo Eneloops and Panasonic Eneloops. I checked after a few charge cycles, the Ikea ones drop in measured capacity based on my La Crosse charger. A better buyuwould be the Amazon Basics rechargeables. They are supposedly rebranded Eneloop Pro's and made in Japan.

        • Comments below say they might be from the same factory. Were you the same from Ikea?

Just a heads up for everyone.
You can now get Made in Japan Ikea Ladda rechargeable batteries for very cheap.

Apparently these are the same as the japanese eneloops as they are made in the same FDK factory.

Seems to be a PRO version 2450/900 mAh and a Lite version 1000/500 mAh
So no standard 2000/800 mAh version

    • Thanks. I've been waiting for the new Laddas. Didn't realize they are available now

    • Nice.

    • Ikea says "ready to use", so these do indeed appear to be LSD.

I wish battery makers would just say "low self-discharge". Maybe it sounds too negative, while "ready to use" sounds positive (no pun intended).

Seal of approval. Those guys take batteries real serious.

      • That test was done in 2014 on the older Ladda's made in china.
The new made in japan ones should be a lot better.

    • Is the charger from IKEA any good or is a timer based ?

That charger is quite good, and it is a smart charger. Unfortunately they have been phased out. You might be lucky to find a store that still has the old charger.

Of the new chargers Ikea has, the STORHOGEN says it has -dV/dt detection, but with 0.25A per battery it will still take 10 hours to charge an Eneloop. At that speed, the batteries most likely won't show the -dV/dt effect, so it effectively becomes a "dumb" charger. There are ways to detect -dV/dt with a slow charger, but AFAIK only Nitecore chargers use them, and they don't take ten hours.

And the AA apparently not in Adelaide store :(

    • Some people collect eneloops for the color themes. I personally have all of the eneloop colors and take pride in my collection which are all sealed lol (other than the 12 i regularly use)

  • Missed out on the Nitecore D4 charger from the other day.
Any other good deals on a recommended charger?

      China vs Japan
      Dumb Charger vs Smarter Charger

  • Can the advanced charger do smart quick charge?
