lol aren't these sorts of things around $10 online? i.e. broadlink black bean?
I was thinking the exact same thing. The advantage of the broadlink is it can control your TV as well, and you don't need all the other z-wave hardware to get it to work.
The app isnt too bad for the broadlink either.
The advantage of these is that you can tie them in with your actual home automation controller and adjust your AC based on a massive amount of variables.
For example.. If it's after 10PM, the temperature in the bedroom is above 20c and the bedroom lights have been off for over an hour, turn the AC on until the temperature in the room is 18c
I can't use it (Brivis non IR controlled heating/cooling), but good price.
