Thanks for the heads op. Might grab a case on way home for lunch (interpret that sentence however you wish).

Counting down the days until my ArtBrewer arrives.

  • Might be worth noting that I got a flat delivery accross the board of $6.90 (they were offering same day for same price but I got next day as nobody is home today and they require someone to be for same day). Not sure if that applies for everyone

Good beer. Just remember that the case is 16 beers and not a 'normal' 24.

    • MEMBER OFFER
      $40.00 per case of 16
      $60.99 per case of 16
      $12.90 per pack of 4
      $5.29 per bottle (in store)

      • +1

I see the problem right there

4 x 4 packs (Total 16) at $12.90 is only $51.60 - cheaper than a case (not inc member offer)

      • +7

Since when is a 'case' of beer 16 bottles?

        • +3

A few of the craft beers do it (Nail and Feral in WA at least). I feel like buying 16 bottles at a time is inefficient, hopefully the brewers will drop this nonsense and go back to 24 bottle cartons. It actually stops me buying a carton.

        • It's the new 'fahshion' with these bearded hipsters flooding the craft beer market. Great beer but seriously stick to the 24 please!

        • +4

          @ilikeradiohead:

16 is a square number. 24 is just, like, a weird number. A carton of 16 is much more aesthetic. Hence the hipsters go for it. Also, if you have your rowing team around, its 2 each which is a sensible number of beers (coxes don't get free beer)

        • @dtc: I'll be happy with cartons of 25 beers.

        • @ilikeradiohead:

That sort of only one considering they share a brewery so it's bottled on the same equipment.

      • Strange, I'm seeing $17.99/4 pack

    • Damn it. I didn't notice that. I've asked them to cancel my order.

  • +2

Also maybe check the expiry date - from memory these were brewed after DM's took on extra quantities from Feral Brewing last summer. This could be a clearance of that stock.

  • Not a bad drop for the price. Wouldn't pay the $60 for it normally.

  • +17

Was so ready to buy this till I noticed it was only 16 beers. If the bottles were bigger than the standard 330mL I wouldn't mind, but a carton of beer is 24 bottles/cans, not this 16 bottle bullshit.

Don't see the deal here. Equivalent to $60 per normal case. My local liquor store does Mountain goat varieties for $60 per case of 24. Hence, I would rate this as a normal price, rather than a good special.

If there were 24 beers in the case……….

    • +2

Relative to the original price it's a deal. Good beer and at $40 for 16 is good enough for me.

Haven't had much mountain goat stuff but I've heard good things. What would you recommend?

      • +1

The pale ale is quite nice, I wouldn't pay $60/case for it though. Give Cricketers arms varieties a go, $45/case for the lager which is excellent. Pale ale is also good but $53/case currently.

        • Had the spearhead pale, not bad. I tend do not be a very good OzBargainer with beer though, it's one of the things were I will pay more to try new/different things including splurging $20-25 on a 6 pack..

        • +1

          +1 for Cricketers

        • Those Cricketer's 2 x 10 packs for $40 at BWS are my weak spot. So convenient for the fridge and a great tasting beer.

        • @tomski182:
          Love the Captains IPA.

    • +1

It isn't normal price for this particular beer though. A carton of TEDs is $39 therefore anything priced higher than that cannot be a bargain?

  • How does this compare to Stone and Wood Pacific Ale?

    • +3

Not really worth comparing, completely different tasting beers! Pacific Ale is much brighter and sweeter, I find it hard to handle as it's almost cider like. The Feral is more citrusy with mild bitterness.

    • +3

If you like Pacific Ale, try the Balter or Panhead XPA's. Not really the same style but lighter on the bitter and malty flavours than most pale ales which might appeal to Pacific Ale drinkers.

    • +1

It definitely out foxes the Stone and Wood IMHO…

  • +8

$60.99 ?? This better be the best tasting beer in the world!!! sip you got lucky!

    • 1664 blanc is about $64.99

  • +1

I prefer their IPA more. But good price for a 16 bottle case.

  • +3

Expensive, but a very good IPA - PirateLife IPA 355mL at 6.8%

    • +1

Good call. All of their beers are good. Love their Pale Ale!

  • Thanks OP , please keep the craft beers deals coming :)

  • cant seem to get $40 case - wants to charge me 60.99. Have logged in and added to cart, but price not being updated - any ideas???
