I guess this means fridges and TV at Good Guys will be doubling in price.

  • My folks just ordered themselves a new fridge. Thanks OP

  • Does anyone know the approximate wattage of the Samsung TV (UA32J4100AW 32" HD LED LCD TV) when displaying ?
The energy rating website says 100kWh per annum (assuming 10 hours use per day)
I calculate this to be 27watts over 10 hours.
But I thought they used more than that, like about 100watts.

    • I think it calculates at 270 watts over 10 hours.. (100 / 365 = 0.27kwh = 270watts.. or 27 watts per hour.. which sounds right for 32".. unsure if that's at full brightness/specs

  • It would be far more effective to pay junkies $200 to be neutered. The birthrate average of 1.9 per family is actually lower but drug addicted mothers have 6 to term pregnancies on average.five them $200 to shoot up and tie their tubes. Much fewer drug addicted babies farting methane.

The birthrate average of 1.9 per family is actually lower but drug addicted mothers have 6 to term pregnancies on average

that looks like a pretty made up statistic

      • yeah it's hyperbole but the opening sequence of idiocracy may explain how this stat will play out in the long run :)

('the frame of man shall be bred out to baboon and monkey..' from Timon of Athens.. written centuries before darwin.)

My neighbours are anecdotal evidence of this.. they have 4 kids.. all meth addicts waiting to happen.. father smacks them, refers to the 3yr old girl as the c-word, tv is punishment, smokes holding the youngest, doesn't work, talks about meth/disability pension most days.. really really feel for the kids.

I had to sell my spa.. because a lockable cover doesn't meet legislation.. may endanger non-existant children.. but next door they can breed future jailbait willy nilly.

This is fantastic! My family's fridge has been broken for way too long, if we're accepted we'll finally be able to get a great new fridge AND, the best part, we can have ice cream again!

      I'm in Victoria.

I don't really care if it's a waste of government money or not. We need a new fridge and 40% off sounds good to me! I submitted the application this morning at 10:40 am and at 5:30 pm this afternoon received the email to say it had been approved. Pretty quick turn-around!

    • What happens next? You go to TGG and show them approval?

      • +1

Once you receive approval, you are asked to ring TGG commercial team to organise the deal.

        • Do you know if they accept good guys gift card ad payment?

  • Make sure to compare other brands/suppliers though! That being said, if it's a bargain grab it. Would HIGHLY recommend the Samsung's over the Hisense! Ours has been going for a few years now and no struggle at all.

    • +1

We were going to go with the Samsung, given that they have been on the Australian market for a lot longer than Hisense. However, I have just been looking at the Choice test results for fridges and the 526L Hisense outperformed the 533L Samsung by 22% in the overall score! We have never owned either brand before. The largest Samsung on offer is 471L. That's a bit smaller than we'd like, so we figure if we're only paying $533.40 for a brand new 526L fridge, we might as well give the Hisense a go. We can always flog it off if we're not happy with it and shouldn't be too much out of pocket.

We can always flog it off if we're not happy with it and shouldn't be too much out of pocket.

And this is just one reason why this is an inefficient government program

  • Why didn't they include a 26" or 24" TV option ?
That would be a big energy saving over a 32" and be big enough for many people.

  • For those who qualify can you buy online? Or only instore?

    • +1

Online. You have to apply through the OEH link above and they will assess and email you a voucher. You then need to call up the Good Guy special hotline shown in the voucher to arrange for delivery.

      • double post

      • Do they give you a discounted price from the website or is it website prices only?

      • Good guys special hotline no one answers

  • +1

They aren't even picking up thier phone.

    • What to do if they don't pick up?

  • Who else have received an approval? I made the submission last Thursday night and I have only received an email saying that the application has been received and that's it…

  • +5

spike in "unwanted prizes" of Hisense,Samsung & TCL on gumtree in houso areas.

Maybe the environment would have benefited more if they dumped RU-486 in the water supply.

  • +1

Just to confirm, the fridge and TV don't have to be working?

    • +1

      Correct

  • What does everyone think of Hisense fridge?
I really need a big fridge but unsure of the brand!!! Please help

    • I got the largest fridge (Hisense) and its been great so far. The fridge is pretty wide which helps me utilise the space better. The water dispenser seems alittle flimsy.I also got the 5 year concierge warranty so it can atleast last that long. My only issue so far is the finger prints it leaves.

  • Registered online for my parents. However noone answers the 1300 to take orders just all voicemail. Has this deal ran out or the good guys gone busted after bought out by JB Hi-Fi?

Anyone else? Left voicemail no call backs

    • As far as I am aware it is still going, supposed to go until sometime next year. I spoke with them on the phone last week, think they are flat out with the offer.

Noticed they added some more fridge/freezers to the list of selection.

      • What time did you call? Was wondering when they will most likely take calls.

I rang three times nothing and no call backs. Very frustrating. I might as well ring office of heritage and complain

Flat out isn't an excuse. Should have more staff if they want business.

        • I last rang them around 2.30 on Monday afternoon just gone. The phone was answered by a person, not a machine. I agree, flat out, is not an excuse, and they should have the required staff. Anyway, our TV turned up on Thursday, got rid of one of those big old bulky ones. For around $200 delivered, happy with the quality etc.

        • No one answering still. So its pretty much useless this deal. Tried several times and different days

        • +1

          @neonlight:

Why don't you just leave a message to ask them to call you back?

      • Went and had a look at the 340L Westinghouse fridge at GG's today. Bloody hell, talk about rubbish quality door shelving. The Samsung 318L wasn't much better.

  • Can you use the 2 x $25 store credits with this scheme?

  • +1

Has this offer been "extended"? Presumably because the $4mill funding has not been used up.

I vaugely remember the offer was specified until June 30 but no references to this or any other date anymore!

    • +1

The original deadline was 30 June 2017 but this reference was removed from the OEH web site, so this deal was modified accordingly. There was also yet another recent report on 7 News spruiking this offer, so I assumed the offer was extended.

      • +1

It has been extended. Confirmed with Good Guys.

        • Is there a new end date?

  • I applied online 2 weeks ago, but did not hear anything.

    • The application form said you should receive an email within 3 business days. You should email OEH and find out your progress. There is an email link on the web page under the subheading "Need more help?"

      • Thanks, just did that, also asked about the extension.
