Telstra - Apple Music Unmetered for All, Free Three Month Subscription to Netflix/Stan/Presto on $70 BYOD/ $95 Phone Plans

1180

May not be a proper "bargain", so might belong in the forums, but both Cnet and Gizmodo are reporting that from Tuesday 23rd, Telstra Mobile customers will get Unmetered Streaming for Apple Music. Just a heads up if music streaming is important to you and you are considering the very competitive mobile phone plans out there at the moment. In terms of a bargain, if your bulk data usage is streaming music, then you can save money by going on a cheaper plan, or not have to pay over-usage charges!

Also, free three months of streaming access on Presto/Netflix/Stan

I just called Telstra to confirm the details. Unmetered Apple Music only applies to NEW customers who have just subscribed to a post paid plan. It applies to the Mx plan which expires tonight and the equivalent new plans that are released tomorrow.

    • Also, the unmetered promotion will only last for 6 months.

        Doesnt sound right

  • Just confirmed the following from Telstra chat:

The offer for the Netflix, Stan and Presto is available for mobile services under the Large and XL Go Mobile Plus Plan and Large for Go Mobile Plus BYO plan.

To activate the offers you need to download the Telstra TV+ app, click on 'My Offers' and follow the prompts from there.

Here's the link to Telstra plans and rates site which has the below statement on it: https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/plans-and-rates

3 month subscriptions to Netflix, Stan and
Presto plus 3 new release rentals from BigPond
Movies on the L & XL Go Mobile Plus and L
    Go Mobile Plus BYO plans.

  • I re-contracted a couple of months ago on the $70 a month BYO 12 month plan with $10 off per month (so $60 a month). Unlimited talk/text etc + 10GB data per month. I also got the Apple Music promo extended for another 12 months. Was a bit of work via LiveChat. Just downloaded the Telstra TV+ app then and went into My Offers and clicked on the Listen to Apple Music Now - With Data-free streaming section which already had a tick in it. I had to put in my phone number again for it to activate and check my membership. I have now been listening to music for an hour and no data has been deducted from my Telstra 24x7 widget which is normally a live snapshot. So I think I have free streaming now ! Only 1 month offer for Netflix/Stan/Presto though, but I don't care about them.

    Worth a try for others..

I am on a Nexus 6 with Marshmallow for reference.

Edit - sorry, this was supposed to be a reply to Ozbargained's post just above.
