Ryobi 18V Line Trimmer and Blower Kit w/- 4 Amp Battery $229 @ Bunnings Warehouse

160

Long time lurker and beneficiary of deals but first post so have my "L-plates" on. Saw this on Price Hipster and it looks like a very recent introduction.

The combo pack includes the cordless blower and line trimmer with a 4 amp battery. The separates (with a better blower - 245kmh vs 190kmh - AND a 5 amp battery) come in at $308. With the smaller battery and an inferior blower that is an $80 difference. Not suggesting it is a fantastic deal but if you don't need the faster blower, it's not bad… especially as Bunnings just put the price of the two 5 amp battery pack up by $30.

The single trimmer (console only) is $109 https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-305mm-cut-cordless…. I can't find that blower on its own, so hard to gauge the exact saving.

Sorry, we all got these when it was $90 each, including battery and charger.

The blower blows, the line-trimmer is OK for smaller jobs. Not as effective as my cheap 2-stroke, but much more pleasant to use.
If you have a lot of jungle to clear, rather than just trimming the edges, I'd recommend a 36V or petrol version.

But the big bargain back then was the hedge-trimmer. No more severing the 240V cord for me!

^ this. I got all three last time they were on sale and i also find that the line trimmer is next to useless. The blower is no where near as good as my petrol blower, but the hedge trimmer seems to be quite good (for the limited used that I need).

    • Got the hedge trimmer and the blower back then. Didn't get the trimmer, but at 99 kinda thinking I should have got it anyway.

    • I got the hedge trimmer on that deal works it as well as my in-laws 240volt stihl hedge trimmer only without the cord.

  • Its been below $200 before for this pack with the new consoles with 5Ah pack. also check the date on that 4Ah pack, it has been discontinued for quite a while now.

  • I missed out on the Hedge Trimmer kit for $90. Waiting for the deal again…

I think that deal was very rare

I've never seen them on special like that before……

      • I heard it was a pricing mistake that Bunnings decided to honour. Doubt we will see this price again.

Was def a good deal. Just for the battery alone……
Good score for those who picked them up.

  • They're a good unit and perfect if you've got a small grassed area. I have probably 30m2 of grass and will normally get 2 1/2 uses out of a battery. It's not the most powerful , and I wouldn't recommend it as a weed wacker, but as a straight grass edger for small lawns it's great.

  • Trimmer is fine if you use decent 3.0mm line instead of the ryobi line. Then it can chop through thick weeds and is good on edges too. You can also get a bladed insert as well for heavy duty work.

    • The blade attachment sounds like a good option…

For convenience, the battery line trimmer is good. As Is the multitude of one+ options.

  • I want the cultivator but it's not sold in oz

    • They sell alot of ryobi one+ we don't get over here.
I picked up the paint sprayer, the 90deg drill before it was finally released here, gyprock cutter, pesticide sprayer (ryobi one+ in blue) back when the aud was strong against the usd.

      • For the 90deg drill just use the one+ multitool and clip on an AEG 90deg drill head.

    • Just order one from overseas - the Ryobi One batteries are the same worldwide. I bought my circular saw from the USA for half the Bunnings price a few years ago !

      • cool story bro. Link adds up to $249.30.

  • Was shipping/postage as much as the item purchased? I am too much of an ozbargainer to pay shipping so I dig up my garden by hand.

  • very weak. The trimmer accidently hit my leg. it didnt hurt felt kinky unlike the petrol version which bled.
