Just to clarify, 7970 GE(GHz Edition) not the standard one. To be honest the performance is a little better cause the 7970 GE was equivalent tothe 280x and the 380x is a rebranded 290x.

Actually the 380x is based on the 285, not the 280 or 290. It's based on an entirely newer GPU core than either. The 380x is a tuned and slightly faster version of that card.
