Been waiting for these to be eligible for shipping to Aus for a while now (at this stage I think it is only the green that does). A great price for an automatic Seiko.

  • Do these have the bloody loud movement like the timex weekenders? I like the look of the weekender but I just hate how loud the thing is.

    • considering this is an automatic watch i don't think it'll be as loud as quartz watches.

No, these are automatic watches. You won't hear a ticking.
      These are 37mm diameter.
Blue, Green, Black & Creme are $77.17 delivered at Skywatches but for $78.52 delivered you can buy the black with a stainless steel bracelet.
For links to all models see my post here

Nice looking watch with the ever reliable automatic movement however I feel 35mm case diameter is way too small. Just my opinion. :)

      • Do you have an idea how often they sale/reduce it for $55? (creme dial)

        • Are you talking about AUD or USD? I have never seen it that cheap in AUD.
The current price of AUD$77.17 delivered is pretty much as good as it gets, the price only varies by a few dollars depending on the exchange rate.

Don't forget this is a Seiko automatic watch that will pretty much last 20 years or more without needing a service. They aren't as accurate as quartz, so you will have to adjust the time more frequently, but people don't buy automatics for their accuracy, it's more about appreciating the mechanics.

SkyWatches have this model priced at AU$77.17 with free shipping.

Went to their shop in Singapore last May 2016. Good service. They have a small team (about 3) who does nothing but process web orders. Price very reasonable and I haggled for a few more. Highly recommended shop.

      • It's not a sale, this is the normal price at Skywatches.

        • It's not a sale, this is the normal price at Skywatches.

Still better price than Amazon (no retail box, as newxr has pointed out).

        • @sanmigueelbeer: Just pointing that out because a sale usually means that the price will go up soon & people may feel pressured to buy it today, but as you can see from my post in March it has been around this price all year.

Holy moly, how did I not know about skywatches…
I just cancelled my Amazon order since I don't need a box

      • Skywatches have Paypal so make sure you use it.

        • I only use paypal these days, but have you had issues in the past?

        • @ebosh: No, Skywatches is fine, they have been around for a while.
I have checked their feedback on forum sites like Watchuseek and it's all good.
          Just better to be safe.

  • Less than $80 at Skywatches delivered (no retail box) - Retail box add $6

  • If anyone is after the worlds best bargain quartz diver, Amazon now ships it to Aus -
Casio Diver MDV106-1AV USD $48.07 Delivered (Approx AUD $63.50) @ Amazon

  • If you're looking for something a bit nicer, you can get the SEIKO SARB035 or SARB033 for $400 off eBay. Highly recommend it.

  • It doesn't look like this Seiko 5 is made in Japan.

  • I don't know much about watches but what are some good watches for around $150-$200? I heard from watchheads that quartz movements are bad.

    • +1

no you've been hearing from watchsnobs that quartz movements are bad.

quartz movements are much more accurate than most automatic movements, low maintenance, and at a fraction of the cost. When you buy automatic you should be paying for the engineering and craftsmanship that goes into making each second as accurate as possible, not because some toff tells you it's better than quartz.

      • I heard Quartz isn't worth it over the $500 mark and Kinetic is what people get if they want a Quartz

        • mcdonald's gave out quartz watches in happy meals back in 2010; how much do you think quartz is worth?

i say pay what you think it's worth. I know people who bought quartz monstrosities from cartier and chanel and don't regret it (oh the price of indulging in conspicuous consumption!). Personally, i go no higher than the price of a decent swatch (or fossil, when on sale).

  • I have the cream one from skywatches…. slapped a leather band on it too :)
