You can get the same deal @ mr Port Philip shop year around :P

    • +1

      What is MR?

      • … I meant to type Mr porter and remember the shop is actually called port Phillip.

  • Anyone know of a good place to get a Topy done for these shoes?

  • +2

    Wow…

    • -1

Yeah it's amazing people buy into this bs. They call holding a boot up to a machine "handcrafted".

      • +2

Only plebs who have never owned or worn a pair of RMs would have that attitude.

        • -7

That comment perfectly sums up their customers today. Onanists who think that wearing that gear makes them special.

My grandfather knew him and was a customer well before he became famous and the accountants and marketers took over the business. He stopped buying the gear decades ago because the quality went to shit. I don't wear handcrafted boots but I did have a pair of handcrafted Italian dress shoes. Only plebs don't know the difference between handcrafted and "handcrafted by a machine".

@Rutger: Did your feels get hurt?

        • @zhenjie: Not as much as yours. Enjoy your $400, Louis Vuitton Country Collection, boots if that's what you need to feel special.

        • @Rutger: good on you. Enjoy your Italian dress shoes.
You're above all the plebs. Feel better now ?

        • @Rutger: What a sad (and embarrassing) superiority complex you have there.

It's still a bit much for a pair of boots though isn't it?
Perhaps they will come down to $299 again :-

      • Getting better …

i picked up a pair at the annual sale here in Adelaide. Small hole in the leather where there would have been a security tag fitted, $270 after 10% off coupon sms'ed to me from being on the mailing list. Very happy with them so far. Worn them every workday since.

        • And better …

        • +1

That link to $250 boots mentioned they were unsold custom orders, so not a regular sale, and u may not have been able to get what u wanted. good price if u were lucky.

        • @danyool: agreed. The annual seconds sale seems to sell at $300 or 2 for $500. Good if you can get a discount coupon and a mate who wants some too

        • +1

@danyool: No, the comments corrected that they were normal boots. The 10% coupon also applied, so $225 a pair.

I got a a pair and they were exactly like the ones in the shops.

        • @ihbh: ok. Wow. Lucky u!

        • @danyool:
They were normal shoes but it was extremely limited in stock. I went there as soon as I saw the post but everything on my size had long gone.

Nungar Trading has them for less usually. Can't see black in the Craftsman yearling but they have other colours (and other styles): http://www.nungar.com.au/catalog/product_info.php/products_i…

    • Back this. Got a great pair of kangaroo craftsman boots from Nungar earlier this year under 400.

    • I'll second Nungar too. Good service and cheapest about.

Yearlings. Aren'cha glad you paid for the cow to be killed for your shoes while still a child?

    • yearling
      ˈjɪəlɪŋ,ˈjəː-/
      noun
      1.
an animal (especially a sheep, calf, or foal) that is a year old or that is in its second year.
      adjective
      1.
having lived for a year; a year old.
      "a yearling calf"

      Thanks didn't know that

    • +2

Never eaten veal or lamb? The leather is probably a byproduct, as in the primary reason it's killed at that age is the meat.

      • You're trying to make it sound like that's a better reason to kill a child?

        • +1

          I love egg yokes… fetuse..mmMMmmMMMMMMM

        • @Baghern: Following a particular Biology lesson at school, I did not eat a visible egg for 13 years!

          @PJC:

I know whats in Chicken McNuggets… I still eat them

        • +1

          Humans before animals bro.

        • @Baghern: 99.999% of eggs sold would be unfertilized.

        • @djcharliek: What if I told you you could put humans before other animals without needing to kill other animals?

        • +1

          @altomic:

          don't ruin it…

        • +1

          @thevofa:

Nothing wrong with eating animal meat. The leather is just another part of the animal that is useful.

    • +1

Don't you have an activated buckwheat Paleo salad to eat instead of trolling every animal product deal here.

      • -1

You call it trolling, I call it frank discussion about torturing animals for human whims. So…. No.

        • Rhetoric =/= Frank discussion

        • There's no such thing as a discussion (frank or otherwise) with the narrow minded people wandering around with blinkers on who make these outrages claims. While I'm not denying there are some inhumane practices out there that need to be rectified, ignoring all the ethical farmers and spewing out lines like "torturing animals for human whims" will only get a few mung bean eating stoners listening.

The fact that too many of our city dwellers these days think meat come from plastic packets in the supermarket doesn't help your cause but try cutting out the hyperbole and you'll probably find a lot more people listening rather that writing you off as some kind of loon.

        • @OzBragain: There is no hyperbole. If you, or someone you love, lived the life of a livestock animal - replete with all sorts of sufferings and finalised with a slit throat - I don't imagine you'd think it less than torture.

The only narrow-mindedness here is that which refuses to consider the animals themselves. In this time and place you don't need any animal products to survive, let alone boots made of the skins of killed animals - therefore they are all non-essential and all whimsical.

        • @thevofa:

Well I guess I should thank you for proving my point that you're incapable of having a discussion on the subject.

If you, or someone you love, lived the life of a livestock animal - replete with all sorts of sufferings and finalised with a slit throat - I don't imagine you'd think it less than torture.

WTF!?!? What an idiotic statement! Do you save this rubbish for forums or would you stand in front of someone with your "human farm" comparison and not expect them to burst out laughing. No one would find it acceptable to farm humans regardless of whether they are family.

          Animals are not people!

Once again you refuse to accept ethical farming practices and claim that every animal killed by humans is tortured.

        • @OzBragain: please give me the name and address off one of these ethical farms.

    • What if it's the hide of a cow killed by a lion?

      • +2

Thought the dentist killed the lion?

    • +4

Thevofa's right. This cow never got the chance to finish school, learn to ride a bike, do a gap year or make love. :(

      Cut down in it's prime(rib).

      • Lmao

      • First world metrics. I'm pretty sure they'd be happy enough to just be alive and free.

      @thevofa:

These boots are not made from children and moronic sensationalist statements like this are why people in the real world laugh at you. If you really want to change the world, tone it down a bit and people might listen.

If you just want to tell everyone else in the commune how you slammed the evil omnivores with your bodacious internet quips then keep it going.

      Child

      noun (plural children)

1A young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority: she’d been playing tennis since she was a child the film is not suitable for children

1.1A son or daughter of any age: when children leave home, parents can feel somewhat redundant

1.2An immature or irresponsible person: she’s such a child!

1.3A person who has little or no experience in a particular area: he’s a child in financial matters

1.4 (children) archaic The descendants of a family or people: the children of Abraham

1.5 (child of) A person regarded as the product of (a specified influence or environment): a child of the Sixties

      • So tell me exactly how much I should tone it down for you to listen and I'll do exactly that.

        • +1

Go troll somewhere else. Try some BBQ forums.

        • @OzBragain: So you lied - it's not about me toning it down, rather you don't wanna listen. That's fine, maybe someone with a concern for the sufferings of others will. Peace out dude.

        • +1

          @thevofa:

So you lied - it's not about me toning it down, rather you don't wanna listen

No champ, you're clearly just trying to carry on a pointless argument and I'm not interested. I've already listed a number of suggestions that may help your crusade and the best you can do is come back with something I'd expect from a snooty twelve year old trying to show dad how much smarter she is…before he has a chuckle and humours her. You're not my daughter and I'm not going to humour you.

        • @OzBragain: Pointless? Every year 60+billion animals are killed for boots and nuggets and other unnecessary things.
