IKEA Ladda Rechargeable 4xAA for $8.99 (2450mAh, LSD) - Free IKEA Family Membership Required (excludes SA and WA)

1210

These are highly suspected to be the Fujitsu FDK/Eneloop Pros. 4 for $8.99 is an incredible price for these quality batteries.

Links about them being the same:
http://budgetlightforum.com/node/47233 - review by battery expert HKJ, he says they have the same discharge curve

Many people have bought them on BLF and given positive feedback.

  • I bought Fujitsu batteries during dick smith clearance thinking they come out of the same old sharp eneloop factory in Japan, that they may be rebadged eneloops, but they don't perform up to the new Chinese eneloops standard
Mind u they aren't to bad once conditioned
I think perhaps they will badged and made to a price in runs or on a different manufacturing line for specific retailers

    • "Mind u they aren't to bad once conditioned"

How do you condition a battery and what are the benefits ?

  • does ikea sell glitter as well?

    • Matter of fact they do :-) I saw it in the new gift wrap/decoration section at Richmond

  • Looks like we've found a new coin to add to our currency

  • Is it safe if I use my Energizer charger to charge these batteries? (as im not sure if Energizer batteries have a special circuitry inside them to detect when they are charged fully?)

    • Yes it's safe as long as your charger does NiMH and is not a 15 minute charger.

      • tnx for da reply mate

  • Get one of these from ebay for about $40 or check on ozbargain

  • I grabbed a few packs of AA and AAA of these new white Ladda batteries last week and will be testing the capacity myself.

You can use the comparison tool to see who these compare to 2450 Eneloop AA. Screenshot for the lazy http://i.imgur.com/x6L7QIY.png

I note that in a review of rechargeable batteries last updated on the Choice website on 1 August 2016, PANASONIC ENELOOP PROS ranked below COLES RECHARGE+ overall (75% vs 73%) due to the massive value difference:

    CR+ :

    Endurance - 68%
    Consistency - 74%
    Self-Discharge - 86%
Value - 90% (based on $2 per battery)

    PEP :

    Endurance - 77%
    Consistency - 74%
    Self-Discharge - 89%
Value - 24% (based on $7.5 per battery)

Thus, if Ikea Ladda are rebranded PEPs, then $2.25 per battery is a bargain!

Overall score was calculated as: endurance (45%) + consistency (25%) + self-discharge (20%) + value (10%). Choice has not tested the Ikea Ladda batteries.

Of interest is that the two highest ever rated rechargeable batteries are the SANYO (WHITE) ENELOOP (83%) and SANYO (COLOURED) ENELOOP (81%) batteries. VAPEX INSTANT received the lowest score of 50%.

    SWE :

    Endurance - 76%
    Consistency - 98%
    Self-Discharge - 86%
Value - 69% (based on $5.5 per battery)

    SCE :

    Endurance - 76%
    Consistency - 87%
    Self-Discharge - 85%
Value - 77% (based on $4.88 per battery)

    • Keep in mind some of us here have gotten the coloured Eneloops for $15/8 ($1.9 a battery) , hardly anyone on OzB got them at full price I'd say.

    • CR+ are only $7 for 4 in some area too, $1.75/battery is even better value :D

  • Hmm, so have these been confirmed or concluded that they're from the same factory? If so, I might go pick some up, still have a pack of japanese made eneloop left thats unopened though lol.

  • Questions:

How do these compare to Ladda 500 and 1000?

Will not using them for several months at a time permanently reduce their lifespan? What if I leave them in for several months in the Storhogen charger?

    Thanks!

How do these compare to Ladda 500 and 1000?

These are designed for high power drain applications like camera flashes etc the 500AAA and 1000AA are designed for low power applications like remote control's etc where less power is required.

Will not using them for several months at a time permanently reduce their lifespan.

No, I can't see any reason why it would.

What if I leave them in for several months in the Storhogen charger

I wouldn't bother, the advantage of limited self-discharge batteries is they keep a lot of their charge when just left.

  • If anyone is interested, IKEA Tempe have HEAPS in stock. 194 pieces according to the website (seeing how many were on the shelf…that number wouldn't surprise me).

  • Eneloops that I bought back in 2011 are still working fine. I think I would of charged them about 70 times. It is impressive that after 5 years they still hold enough charge to be useful.
