  • How do you get the coupon?

Do they send it via email to you?

I almost ordered one of these but it's not the 4K version ($799) so not worth it for me. Maybe if it was $199 I would get it.

I've got an oculus rift so would like to try out 360° (or 240°) video but think I'll wait for the price of the 4K to come down, or a different camera.

  • I think the Gear 360 is better value.

  • This 360 camera interest me a little. I just took a quick look on Youtube and picked out one link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNkS6rnfJOs

Man, there are so many different cameras out there.. Don't know which one to try out..

Video from this thing is truly awful, and the 4K is terrible too… Waiting for the next generation.

    • Yeah I have to agree 360 video does look very low res. Unfortunately for 360 video to look good it has to have at least 8k resolution, I think it will take a few years for 8k to appear on small consumer gadgets.

      • Yes I was thinking dual 4K, if they can get the stitching sorted, will be ok.

        • Kolor made perfect auto stitching software for photos. I've no doubt they can do it for video.

They were bought by gopro :/ hopefully they don't get wrecked.

  • Wouldn't touch this thing, it's total junk.

Majority of the so-called 360 degree cameras are shite! Just have a look at YouTube and decide if it's worth buying one now. Better wait for second or third generation cameras with much improvement.

To those above slagging this thing off - it's not a piece of junk. It's actually very good. The limitation seems to be the usability of the software that it comes with. I've got hours of footage from this thing that looks awesome if you view it in the native apps, but somehow dies a horrible death when you try and export it to an online service - as if it zooms in too much.

Occasionally, I've been able to get vids onto youtube in decent resolution.

    • Based on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwx-heVaFtE

Its like a mobile phone camera from 10 years ago.

Completely useless, a better quality 180 degree camera would be more worth it.

Also this doesn't do 4k, it needs to do 4k.

8k is where its at though although there is nothing available for the consumer yet.

      • I agree

1k would be alright for a single part but because its doing 360ish degrees the number of pixels per square inch is way too low.
I was seriiously thinking about this until i saw how bad the video is (see above post)

Just for funs I searched aliexpress for '4k 360 camera' and got quite a few hits. I found one for under $120 that I'm going to try out.

The one I've ordered is "4K 360 mini wireless mini sport Waterproof Action DV camcorder 360 Degree camera 4K 30FPS Ultra HD 1080P Panorama video Camera" Pretty cool how it's 1080p and 4k! :) I know it's not going to be great, but it can't be that much worse than the 360flyHD at 1/3 the price?

Hoping to use it to learn about positioning camera, workflow, editing, etc before I spend the big bucks on a 'real' 360 camera.

    • Yeah a lot of those advertised as 4K are not … I quite liked the dual lens Elecam which was about $150 when I last looked and the Panoview which was $85 (US in both cases).. The latter looked a bit like a Fly.

Doubt either would be good but the price was down low enough to have a mess around with one.
