Hisense 65" M7000 UHD HDR Smart TV $1916 @ The Good Guys + $50 Store Credit for Click & Collect

250
UHDTV20

I am not in the market for a new TV, but like to checkout what's on the market. This is a great price for Hisense's flagship model. I am sure this will get a beating by the brand elitists in the comments, but having viewed this TV myself, I can say it looks fantastic. No, the blacks aren't as good as OLED, but the TV is very good for the price and comes a lot cheaper than it's competitors.
This HDR model would outperform equivalent priced models from the bigger brands IMO. Comes with a 3 year warranty.

Price comes to $1916 using 20% off coupon UHDTV20.

  • M7000 model…

have they sorted out the issue with hdr over usb and not hdmi yet..if they have this is a great buy

  • Anyone know the refresh rates for this TV? Almost like they go out of there way to not advertise this on TV's these days.

I'm pretty sure 100hz motion is most likely 60hz native with some bs smooth motion technology over the top. 120hz or more on 1080p and 60hz on 4k would be awesome.

      tl;dr is TV's are only 60hz or 120hz.

But there is waaay more to the story, recommend that article.

Cheers Diji1, interesting read and seems to be common practice with nearly all manufacturers to be deceptive about the true refresh rate on panels.

Well, is the battleground when it comes to a good picture. You see, LG’s OLED is the ultimate. Each of the 8.3 million pixels can be lit individually.

Covered by patents and without seeing how it’s done – Hisense have taken a different approach. They say they have multiple “zones” on the screen. So a whole vertical area of the screen doesn’t need to be lit to show the picture on-screen.

Now, I tried to understand this, replicate this, and dig into it, but what I can tell you is that the black picture result on this TV is second to the OLED. A distant second to be clear, but a clear second.

If you can't afford OLED, then value for money this is probably the best TV on the market.

I think it's undisputed that the blacks OLED produce are miles ahead anything else on the market. I don't think there is any point comparing LED and OLED though. It's like comparing a Ferrari with a high end anything else. They're not the same price bracket so the comparison is kind of redundant.

Once OLED becomes affordable and closer in price to any HDR/Quantum dot LED, then it's definitely a valid point. Not calling you out, just lots of reviewers who reference OLED when reviewing cheaper LED TV's.

    • If you have good experience, you can recommend it to the others. Otherwise, don't judge it from the paper. I observed this TV in the shop. The 65 inch panel is nearly double thicker than 55 inch one. That's just weird. The shining metal frames are very hot when the TV is on. I am worried about it can be working through the hot summer. Although it has 3 years warranty, but to claim it, it is still annoying. The 55 inch one does not have this problem.

      • The 65 inch panel is nearly double thicker than 55 inch one. That's just weird.

It's really not. 65" is backlit LED. The 55" is edge LED which is always thinner than backlit.

Thanks OP. I just got JB Hi Fi to price match Good Guys on the larger the 70" model. Got it for $2,700 delivered instead of $3,498 + delivery.

I'm not sure JB will price match for anyone else. They weren't happy about it at all. JB said they were losing $600 on the sale…true or not I don't care.

    70" 4K TV for $2,700 delivered - I'm happy with that.

    • Wow, nice!

    • Hi MonocleMoose,

Assuming you have used the tv a bit so far how does it fair? Any issues. I am in the market for a good value tv and the Hisense M7000 range is at the top of the list.

Do you know how it would compare to the 70UH635T from LG considering they were the same price in the sale?

      • +2

Can't comment on comparison to 70UH635T from LG.

My Hisense M7000UWG 70" summary (essay?) after a week is below. Keep in mind I'm a bit biased as I'm really happy with the TV and have no regrets about my decision to get it. I am not some extreme TV picture quality expert so I can't provide AnandTech-like insights.

        It's big

        • I still catch myself thinking my lord this TV is enormous
        • Very glad I got this size instead of a 65"
        • As you can imagine it comes in a massive box that needs quite a bit of time breaking into little bits to put in the bin…so no cheeky thieves will discover you bought a new TV.
        • Definitely need two people to unbox and place onto a TV stand/cabinet/whatever

        Picture

        • Black levels are excellent, but not OLED levels of blackness. At a 1/3 the price of LG OLED I'm very impressed.
        • Watching blu rays is surprising because the level of detail is superb
        • I haven't had to stuff about with picture settings as I'm actually pretty happy with it out of the box. I might end up changing brightness possibly to reduce a tiny bit of rare shadow/purple in the blacks but really, the default settings seem to do a really good job.
        • Maybe I am not as fussy as some…but this is definitely not a washed out, low contrast crap TV panel. Colours seem to pop really well and contrast is really good.
        • My ADSL internet doesn't have the bandwidth for 4K TV so I can't comment on that unfortunately…grrr Australian internet is bloody hopeless

        Interface

        • Boots up pretty fast, connects to WiFi quickly.
        • It is very responsive to the remote control. Buttons are clicky, layout is straightforward.
        • I subscribe to both Netflix and YouTube Red so the remote control direct access buttons are great. My old version Apple TV is now gathering dust and is not connected to the TV as I don't need it at all.
        • Built in WiFi module must be decent because Netflix and Youtube videos play almost instantly, almost never have to pause to buffer
        • Interface itself all runs quickly. Changing channels is fast, no waiting forever for things to load.
        • Interface design is pretty straight forward and I can change settings easy enough. Doesn't seem to have a million unnecessary settings.
        • It has played every format video that I have on my USB thumb drive

        Speakers

        • I never use built-in TV speakers so can't comment there. I run audio through my own speakers.

        Very minor 'problems'

        • Doesn't have the ability to skip forward/back USB source videos by 30 seconds/1 minute like my old LG TV did. But it does fast forward up to 16x so it ain't so bad. You can also type in the exact time you want to go to in a video which is a minor consolation
        • Only time the TV crashed is when I was playing funny buggers fast forwarding a USB video and rewinding it a few times trying to find the right place in a TV show 'Dark Matter'. TV turned black. Rebooted and all was fine again.
        • When you press the YouTube button the YouTube load screen comes up briefly and unfortunately it is glaringly hyper-red and absolutely blinding at night. Not sure if this is a Hisense or Google case of poor design.
        • Haven't had a chance to watch a footy game on it yet, but from sports snippets on the news it looks good. No weird glitching.
        • I've only had it for a week or so. But I do have another Hisense that is 6 years old that has been rock solid and no faults at all. Hopefully this one is the same quality.

No firmware update yet, its on 1.00XXXX something.

My missus and I realise it was quite a bit of cash to spend but both of us are really happy we got it. No regrets.

        • Did you find a way of covering the "Hisense" light at the bottom? I have some black tape and it looks horrible… :(
The little light lights up the room its that bright!
(I have the 65 inch one, not the 70.)

I have been using the internal speakers, I have been impressed. I was using a LG TV and the sound is way worse than on this TV.

        • @irishjoe: I wondered about this myself so I checked the manual and it turns out there is a setting for it. But I haven't tried it yet so I can't confirm it works on mine.

          Page 19 of the Hisense 65" manual states - setup>system>advanced settings>Power Indicator

"Power Indicator: Set the Power Indicator light to stay On or Off in standby mode. NOTE - The Power Indicator function is only applicable to the products which support it."

          http://etcpg3uvcgs41q4ci23mfssr.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-c…

Good to know the speakers are decent!

What do you think of the TV so far?

        • +1

          @MonocleMoose:
I've been impressed so far. I was a bit hesitant buying a Hisense but thought Id give it a go as its about a grand or so cheaper than a Samsung one.

The one thing I haven't figured out yet is controlling my Kodi box from the Hisense remote. With my old LG tv, if I pressed up, down, left right, etc, it would control my Kodi box. My new TV doesn't seem to relay the signal, dunno why.

I'm happy with my purchase and glad I didnt jump on the 4k tv ship earlier. :)

Thanks a lot for the comprehensive reply! I set up a lg 70inch 70UH635T at the inlaws the other day that they got from the same TGG sale and i thought that was pretty good. Didn't have a lot of time to play with settings but out of the box the picture looked great to me. From my research I believe the Hisense M7000 range will provide a better picture than the LG and its on the top of my list to replace my 1080i 50 inch samsung plasma. Just a matter of waiting for the right price. I was very tempted to pull the trigger on the 65 inch for $1916 but after seeing the lg 70 inch set up i think the 70 inch m7000 would be what i should aim for. Although i really don't want to spend more than $2200 on a tv so it might be a good few months wait.

I also believe there are differences between the hardware of the M7000 75 vs 70 vs 65 with the bigger having the better specs. But i'm yet to find any concrete information around this. In particular with the number of dimming zones of each size.

  • Anybody comment on the quality of free to air and 576 signals?

  • Why can you only pick up from certain stores? Theres one near me but they won't let me pick up from there… :(

    • No stock, I'd imagine. Can't give you a TV if they don't have it :)

      • +1

I was just in the store and the sales guy was pressing hard for the sale. Guessing he wouldn't be pushing so hard if they didn't have any?

        • true.
