Unfortunately says nothing about the tank. Presume it's plastic for that price.
Durability of a plastic tank would be questionable at 2000psi.

    • Can you explain to a noob why plastic isn't good?

      • +1

        Plastic cracks

        • Like mine did on my Nifsilk

    • +4

But the 2000psi is generated downstream of the tank🤔

    • Did your common sense forget to tingle?

Your car tyres are inflated at around 30psi, you ever kick one of those? You think there's 2000psi in that plastic tank? (btw the tank is for detergent, not holding water - you attach the washer to a tap for source).

      • yes and that 2000psi isn't anywhere near the plastic tank…. Not sure of your point? 🤔

      • +1

LOL the pressure comes out of the nozzle, the detergent doesn't sit in the tank under 2000psi of pressure.

  • +2

seems like a decent washer. has anyone had experience with the Ryobi brand in pressure washers. Didn't realise they even made them.

    • +2

I bought one about 2yrs ago for $98 on sale. Still works, replaced once when it was only 3 months old due to not holding pressure but apart from that last year and 8 months going great

  • +4

No deal unless someone can confirm it has a metal pump like Gerni etc

    • +5

Well I reckon it is a deal on price alone. You'll pay $499 plus for a Gerni or Karcher with the same psi
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/compare?products=6210700,6270618…

Plastic is fine at lower psi. But 2000psi is pushing it.
Metal is good if you use it regularly. If not it can crack. And unless it's properly anodised (or brass) it can also rust.

At the end of the day it's got a 2y warranty. So worth a 'crack' at that price.

      • +1

That's assuming it really is 2000psi. The motor on the Gerni is 2.1KW vs 1.8KW on the Ryobi. I wonder how close the Ryobi is to 2000psi.

        • +2

          Yeah true.
Like food labelling, I wonder how these things are regulated?
I mean if you were Gerni wouldn't you buy one, test it and then file a complaint to ACCC?

        • +1

          @stuckster:

it will be 2000psi when using the pin dick nozzle which is useless

the actual water flow is average as well

  • +1

5m hose is far too short.

    • +4

It's how you use it though :)

But yeah, you'll be walking up and down to the machine to move it while you are cleaning large areas. Very frustrating.

    • +1

      Agreed.
Why put a reel on there for a 5m hose. Pointless.

    • -1

      That's what she said

  • I have to say I find the ones with the hose reel on top (which seems most) a PITA because pulling the hose tips the whole machine over.

    • +5

Yeah. I think the reel is designed more for easy storage of the hose rather than distribution of the hose during use.
Try pulling the full length of the hose out to begin with. At least that's how I use mine.

      • Yes, I do that. It is impossible to pull it out as you use the hose. I reckon even if the hose was down low pulling the hose would just pull the unit towards you. I reckon they need to be designed to lay down like vacuum cleaners, put your foot on the head of it then pull the hose out.

        • The positioning of the motor and pistons vertical motion means that usually it needs to work standing up if using for anything more than a few minutes to stop overheating and uneven early wear. Ruined a $600 Katcher once that way myself, learn by mistake.

  • +4

I find pulling the hose out before using it makes things a lot less messy.

    • +3

;) Yes. Much better than trying to pull it out half way through the job!

    • +12

I find pulling it out after after using it to be the messiest

      • Wear gloves next time.

    • It's also cheaper over 30 years.

    • I find cleaning the pipes after a messy use helps keep it in tip top shape

Mothers Day - Make her happy.
Fathers Day - Buy him sh!t to do work.

  • +7

"Lol - tagline on Bunnings' home page is 'Perfect Father's Day'! Isn't that like getting Mum a vacuum for Mother's Day?!"

No. men actually like getting useful things for presents!

  • Anyone know if these units can 'suck' out of a bucket or something? - Looking for a unit that I can use with my rainwater tank (big bucket more than a tank), but unfortunately the two units I've tried so far (petrol karcher 2800? and cheapo bosch) dont suck by themselves. They seem to need some pressure which I cant provide.

    • Funny I was just looking at other options (becuase I need the patio cleaner attachment) and was looking at this and it specifically states "Water restrictions? Not a problem. Simply connect your Gerni to a bucket or a tank."

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/gerni-1-4kw-classic-titan-120-4-…

    • -2

Which hose are you trying to get sucked?

    • I believe you need to buy something like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/karcher-5m-suction-hose_p6270103

      • Why can't you use ordinary hose with the right socket?

        • Need a non-return valve apparently

        • @rehab: I wonder what the issue is with backflow back into a bucket. If it's backflow into the water mains, OK… but a bucket?

        • +1

          @eug: mains pressure?

  • +4

I bought this last week and have used it 6 times. For the price it is pretty good. Actually I think it is crazy cheap.

Full disclosure: I have never used one before but this was wayyyyyy more powerful than I was expecting.

With the finest lance setting it was cutting through softer sandstone - literally. I had to move back a little bit because I was destroying the sandstone and leaving cut marks on it. Would certainly cut your skin and do some damage if you sprayed yourself accidentally

Quality seems ok, lots of plastic but so far so good. Cant comment on durability outside of that. Pump isn't too loud - its offensive of course, but not as offensive as some of the 747 sounding models I hear on Saturday mornings. As for the metal pump or not I have no idea. It does come with a two year warranty though so that gives me some comfort for two years?

I was quoted $400 to pressure clean about 20 sq metres of sandstone, this cost me $129. So good value in my opinion.

    • +4

I was quoted $400 to pressure clean about 20 sq metres of sandstone

That sounds like a "we can't be bothered, let charge him too much so he turns it down" kind of quote.

      • +1

Or maybe it's some dude that just does 10 times less work and gets paid the same :p

  • 5m hose is a deal breaker for me. If you have a large SUV or people mover it will be pain to use. The hose will not let you reach the rear side of the vehicle. Have to carry the pressure cleaner with you around the car, assuming you have long enough lead and hose to the tap. Length is good fro Corolla size cars.

    • Put it on your roof rack to get full coverage without having to move it once.

      • How do you clean the roof?

        • Once it's down.

        • @BestofOZB: you dont clean top down?

        • There is a big enough gap under the roof rack to get the roof clean.

        • @zealmax: I do, you got a point.

  • +1

Well done Bunnings. Reverse sexism at its best.

As OP said, if this was a vacuun advertised for mothers day, everyone would have lost their shit.

    • My mum doesn't vacuum is it still offensive?

    • Because it doesn't contribute to or reinforce a damaging stereotype of women staying at home doing the housework

    • +2

It's important to find offence where ever possible! /s

Personally just about every male in my extended family asks for Bunnings vouchers for birthdays / fathers days and two of us have bought pressure washers in the last couple of years with them. I'm in my 30s, and going with my dad to Bunnings to buy crap like this and grab a sausage sizzle is almost a tradition.

      Enough of the PC crap.

  • +1

like getting Mum a vacuum for Mother's Day?!

Can you imagine the triggering that would happen if they advertised this?

  • Thanks OP - Going to pick one up at my Local Bunnings today!

Quick question: Would this Foam Cannon attachment fit this specific model? - http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/ToolPro-Pressure-Wa…

    • Foam sprayer.

Foam cannon sounded much more exciting and i was a bit disappointed when I clicked the link

    • Let me know if it fits please :)

    • I don't think you need it……this ryobi has a tank for the detergent

    • +1

Went into Bunnings today. Have the same foam Cannon that I got off eBay. Doesn't fit unfortunately. The 1/4 inch attachment is more likely to fit the nonbranded pressure washers I believe.

  • I already purchased Gerni washer from Supercheap auto, not delivered yet (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263600).
Would this one would be better? (sorry i am bit noob with washers, never owned one)

Bought one, thank you. When I spoke to the sales guy over the phone, he said they will get more stock in this Wednesday but to call first, just in case of delay.

  • Bought one, for $129 can't go wrong! Will keep the receipt though….

None in stock at bunnings Marion SA, there was half a dozen or so in bunnings mile end sa when I was there an hour ago. Guy put one on hold for me.

  • +1

took the last one from artarmon this morning. Went in - 3 on the pallet, went to check how it compares with Gerni/Karcher. Spoke with a guy, said better go grab a ryobi, theres only one left! Used it for a couple hours today, works really well. In my opinion, better than my neighbours $300 karcher

  • Plenty in stock at Nerang QLD.

  • +2

Picked one up from Bunnings Belrose yesterday. At the time they had probably 6-8 in stock. Use it for a while today and it is fantastic! I had my eye on a $300 Gerni model but you can't go wrong for $129. Well worth it.
