I've never seen any of these "get 1 free" tyre "deals" to ever actually work out.

You could shop around and get the four tyres for cheaper or about the same as the 3 and get 1 free.

Basically, you aren't actually getting anything for free, just a clever way to sell.

    • +1 mate - Completely agree with you - Instead head to tyre sales website and get a cheaper deal without comprising on the Quality

    • I found that they didn't jet up their price and it is around the same as others famous store. May be those smaller one are cheaper.

  • Could someone tell me which tyres should I use for my 2001 Toyota Avalon? Thank you

A quick Google search shows 205/65R15 tyres. But to confirm, its better to check your car manual or existing tyres.

      • Thank you.

There should be a sticker on the inside of the door sill.

Make sure you also match up the speed rating.

      • +3

Let's be honest, we wouldn't even go anywhere near the limit of the minimum rating(for that wheel size) here in OZ unless you are on a mission to lose your license.

        • +2

It doesn't matter, it's for insurance and legal requirements.

Even cars that aren't capable of the tyre's speed limit must still have what the vehicle was released and approved with.

      • +2

Only the load rating needs to match up or better. Speed rating needs to be N (140km/h) or higher.

      • Thank you.

  • Would it be wise to change the whole 4 tyres in one go or separately, cause I heard the two in the front get used much faster

    • Yes, that's correct.

If your front tyres are in O.K condition, I would recommend getting the front two rotated to the back at a Tyre Branch; I know that Tyrepower rotate and align them for $35.

Or, you can replace all four.

    • For safety reasons, i'd recommend changing all 4. I know it might expensive, but you should never skim on tyres as we are putting our lives on it.
Fresh tyres = better dry grip and better wet braking

    • also, if your car is all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive, then it is important to have the same tyres at the same stages of their lives.

  • I am driving toyota camry 2007. I just recently change all 4 tyres from Kmart for $397 (215/60r16) bridgetone brand. I quoted the price from brigdetone store then i call up to Kmart for price match… I saw Kmart offer something better like check up for tyre 5 times very 10k kms for free.. Free balancing for 5 times… I am very happy with those tyre and i think it cheap too for $400 for 4 tyres.. I remember i once changed 2 tyres with chinese brand i can only use for 3-4 months…and it cost like $85 each…

I have changed 4 tyres with Bridgestone not long ago, so far OK but I always have problem with alignment, no matter how many times I took it back it still won't aligned straight correctly.

    • That's the car, not the tyres.

      • But I have no problem before they changed my tyres.

One time my friend took it to his company aligned it with their newest machine and all good. So is that my car or their alignment machine too old?

        • Sadly wheel alignments are given out like candy for no reason. Only time a wheel alignment should be done is after parts are replaced.

Bad alignment is due to either damage or wear and tear. Neither can be fixed by a wheel alignment. A wheel alignment may hide the problem but the problem is still there.

        • @chomp:

I think next time may ask them not to do alignment after replaced tyres, is it OK? Because every time seem it is a must.

I agreed my car has wear and tear but not that bad before the alignment.

        • @superforever:

I would say no to an alignment from a tyre place. Take it to mechanic and say car is doing this strange after alignment can you diagnose the problem.

They may say the technician was an idiot and recommend somewhere better but most likely they will say tie rod ends, bushes, etc are chewed out. When the parts get worn you can twist/pivot the deflection of the alignment, making an alignment a best guess.

Disclaimer: I recommend a mechanic because you really need someone to drive the car and feel the problem/see it not just do another alignment and hope for the best. Nothing against tyre fitters some are great mechanics, others are barely trained technicians, same can be said for some mechanics.

  • What is the difference between Bridgestone and Firestone. Firestone seems a different brand.

  • Thanks
