These have good reviews and are consumer friendly with a California smile response. They will compare well to Beats or Marley etc. Not a bad "my first headphone" but you can probably do better at this price range.

Now don't get me wrong, this deal, they are great headphones with great reviews. But read the reviews and you will keep seeing the word "consumer" and "bass heads will love" etc.

I'm sure the HD518s are also great (never heard them personally) but people may want to note that apparently they are open cans while the M50s are closed.

That is true, Sennheiser generally has an open philosophy which to me seems to align closer with the infinite baffle concept.
What's the difference between M50s and M50x?
M50x have the detachable cable.
M50 had a curly cable; M50s had a Straight cable. M50x is the newer replacement of both, slightly different build and contains both types of cable, plus a longer straight one as well. Acoustically they are effectively all the same.
Detachable (non-standard) cable and supposedly somewhat better audio.
So my comment got removed because store rep code of conduct.. what I was saying is there are cheaper options with free express delivery out there if you can't use the amex deal

Nah nothing better than Umart that i can find, that seems to be the cheapest with no amex. There are others cheaper than the $189 though if you cant make it to umart
