Was searching flights from Bangkok (BKK) to Sydney (SYD), Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Sydney, Singapore (SIN) to Sydney etc and came across Malaysia Airlines Phuket (HKT) to Sydney Via Kuala Lumpur One Way Business Class $640 AUD. Likely part of current up to 40% off airfares to Asia sale. Dates Now until 31st March 2017. May be useful for some who will take the longer route to fly business class and I know some of you will not be keen to fly the airline though now. It's $967 return HKT to SYD but not SYD to HKT. Appears to be about $270 cheaper than BKK-KUL-SYD and $500 cheaper than KUL-SYD for the late October trip I booked. The January one way date I booked was only slightly more than economy with Air Asia, Scoot etc and Malaysia's own economy was the same price as their Business! Reasonable level of QF status credits and points available.

    I just booked return flights KUL - PER on 23 Jan 17 for 6 people for under $1,000 flying Malaysia Air.
    Very happy - so long as we don't end up disappeared somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

      What was the return date for the PER-KUL flight? The lowest prices i see are 266RM + taxes p/p each way. Came to about 3100RM + 2037RM taxes return for 5 adults and 1 child. This is starting in KL though. Its even more if you start in Perth.

      KUL-PER or PER-KUL? Either way that's ridiculously cheap. For a moment I thought you meant Business Class but your other comments indicate it's in Economy.

    Strictly speaking it was 3,065 Ringgit which works out to be just under AU$1,000 - and one of the people was 11 so classed as a child ticket.

      That's without taxes or surcharges which add on over $200 for PER-KUL

        Yes, you are right, on ipad it shows first leg without taxes on full website shows total. Return from Perth economy should be around $494, not sure what the $1,000 refers to.

          Possibly the total without taxes and surcharges KUL-PER return which is cheaper than PER-KUL return.
          I can't see any way to get 5 adults and 1 child ticket for $1000 total.
          KUL-PER return is showing around 900RM (~$300)
          PER-KUL return is $494.
          Would like to know the full details of his booking.

          @gazza88: I've been watching KL to Perth flights for months and see it in this price range quite regularly - I don't know why people are so shocked! I've just booked KL to Perth at the end of the month for $60. Flat beds are available for $245 too.

          I didn't post for Perth flights but that would be for Air Asia though, this is full service business with Malaysia. You can book one way now angled flat beds KUL-PER for $260 with Air Asia, this deal I posted is for flights that work out cheaper with Malaysian going via HKT than direct from KUL. Nothing wrong with AIr Asia in my opinion though my flights over in Jan and April next year are on the angled flat beds that were $120 SYD-KUL-DPS where I will hop off in KUL.

          I mentioned 'return' in my post - which was a bit of a brain fart on my part. I meant my return leg to Perth, not that the tickets were KUL - PER - KUL…

    I flew home the other day Phuket to Mel with MAS for 280AUD booked last minute. Not sure if price mistake but couldn't believe my eyes when i saw it. Even better, got chatting to a local bird who was on her way to the airport lounge, she offered to take me in as her plus 1. Right place at right time!
