i love these new thick cut chips!

    • +3

Its good when its properly seasoned but that doesn't happen most of the time :-(

    • +1

I liked them the first time I had them but every time since they've not been made as well and I usually don't finish them. :(

I'm not very picky, but when they're not made properly they're just… blegh.

      • I agree actually…

  • +2

Pair this up with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/264202 and with a bit of a luck you can also get a free drink from the shake n' win app. A nice lunch for $3!

Lol what a coincidence, a hungry jacks deal when survivor is on TV

    • +1

Or basically any McDonald's ad shown during the Olympics.

  • +7

How long are they going to call theses 'thick cut chips'? When will they just start calling them 'chips' …thick cut chips makes it sound like we have a option.

    • I haven't been to HJ in about a year, but are u saying they changed their regular fries to these? if so :(((((, and true what you say, when I saw the bargain it seemed like I had an option of getting limited time only thick cut fries or the normal fries they have

      • +4

Nope. No more normal fries.. i LOVED the normal fries ALOT…..and these are better :)

  • +7

I think they just call it chips at KFC

    • +3

They also make them taste better there.

    • And the KFC chips are twice as thick as these :P

  • +9

    I still miss old fries.

    • Just go to maccas?

    • -4

So you miss more fat and grease?

McDonalds and Hungry Jacks fries have the highest fat content in Australia.

      • +7

I don't eat fast food because it's healthy.

        • -5

          Fast food = healthy?????

        • +1

@Savas: he meant that when he eats fast food, he is aware it is not healthy (but he doesn't care).

        • @CrazyMexican: Oh thanks!

  • +3

I just wish there were more chips included.

    • buy the bigger size.

      • +12

I just wish there were more chips included.

        • if only this was america.

    • buy two

      • +2

Yes, but that doesn't fix the problem. Since making the fries larger, the portion of chips have significantly decreased.

        • +6

Would you like your pizza cut into 8 slices or 16?
          8 please, I couldn't possibly eat 16 slices! 🍕🍕

        • +3

@muncan: Pizza is still the same size while the chips are not.

Their medium is still smaller than a KFC small.

        • +1

          @Clear:

          who buys medium chips anyway?

        • @Clear: Are you considering the size by volume or by weight?

KFC has two sizes, regular and large. Regular serve is 100 grams, 912 kJ per serve and large serve is 227 grams, 2070 kJ per serve.
          https://www.kfc.com.au/media/875961/kfc_nutritional_informat…

Hungry Jacks does not list the weights. But the energy is: S 1120 kJ, M 1330 kJ, L 2120 kJ.
          https://www.hungryjacks.com.au/media/24264/nutrition-guide-v…

Therefore, according to the nutritional information, it seems that your eyes are deceiving you when you think that Hungry Jack's has smaller serving sizes. Or maybe Hungry Jack's is systematically serving much smaller portions than the nutritional information suggests. I would think it's the first, but we would need to bring a scale to measure the portions to know for sure…

        • @twocsies: You wasted too much time on that. It's simply how full they decide to fill it.

        • @Clear: Actually, my guess is in disagreement with yours. Portion control is a very important part of the profitability of fast food restaurants. Furthermore, if either Hungry Jack's or KFC was shown to have systematic error on the scale you are talking about, there would be big trouble.

You are claiming that the 912 kJ KFC serving is larger than the 1330 kJ HJ serving. That's a 45% difference, so if your suspicion is correct, then the government stands to collect some hefty fines in the near future.

"Failure to comply can result in huge fines, so it seems unlikely that a company would deliberately flout the law just to hoodwink a few health-conscious customers. The risk simply isn’t worth it." http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2014/08/ask-lh-what-happens-if-…

        • @twocsies:

Macca's fries and sundaes are a great example. Sometimes they're full to the top. Sometimes they're not.

        • @Clear: I understand "sometimes", but you said that the regular KFC chips is larger than the new medium Hungry Jack's chips. It's possible that KFC or Hungry Jack's has some systematic problem with portion control, but I think the more logical explanation is that the new chips look smaller because they are cut larger, so there's less empty space in the bag.

    • +1

      Buy 2 packs…

  • +4

Beats the $5.50 I just paid for cold stale chips at the royal adelaide show

  • Was refused today at Bull Creek (WA) store

    • Was just refused at Melbourbe airport… Ah well, it was just to try them… Off to the Qantas lounge

  • +1

    Best chips AU

  • +1

New chips are to die for! (literally)

    • -2

good, then all the people who like them will die and they will go back to the fries which were at least partially enjoyable

  • +4

I'm a huge fan of the new thicker chips too. If I wanted fries, I'd go to maccas. They're much more consistent with their fries. But these new chips at hungry Jacks are a total different beast.

  • +1

    "fantastic meal"? Someone's easily pleased…

  • +1

You CANNOT escape the after-smell of these chips. For real, smell your hands a few hours/washes after eating them, they'll still stink. It's like when you cut up garlic or something. Disgusting.

  • +2

    Cool, extra big-arse fries.

    • +3

      Could've stopped at arse

  • +4

    $1 medium chips

How do you get the $1 burger? Is it on the shake and win app?

      • +1

not sure mate but it would be better just to do the survey for a free one
