  • cheap netbook with ssd

      Captain obvious

  • +18

The SSD will be SAD having to wait for the CPU to respond most of the time in this netbook.

  • +1

Am I missing something. These appear to be upwards of $700 on the Net if you search by part number.

  • +16

    Netbooks … Where ssd's go for a relaxing vacation…

  • +10

    Google Chrome preinstalled

    Lol

  • So this or the dell inspirion 3000?

  • +3

    A netbook cheaper than $199!

  • 17 were sold in a few minutes, or did they pull them?

    • +2

      Sold

    • +5

i was on the fence with this one i saw it dwindling down in stock and finally sold out, it was better this way i was so ready to impulse buy it haha

    • At least I got one! Why not at this price?

  • Let us know if there are any other good deals

    • +1

And post them to a custom designed bargains website please

  • I accidentally bought the '16GB eMMC' model - can I replace this easily with an SSD?

    • Probably not because soldered on to motherboard most likely.

  • For those that missed out on the Winblows version, just install Winblows 10 on the Chromebook with a key from here.

    • 16gb emmc

    • +1

non-standard BIOS means that's a no. you can install Linux via chroots however

      • Ah, fair enough.

      • Are you a hacker?

His name might be Elliot (or perhaps her name is Darlene).

          @PinzVidz: Nah its Droidyy.

  • +1

Danger Will Robinson dont buy this one it has only 16GB eMMC

    • +1

Looks pretty easy to upgrade of its the same unit as it's windows brother (lift the back panel and swap drive). The real sucks part is the loss of the W10 license

      • +2

        It's eMMC. It's probably soldered.

        • The machine looks identical to the windows version though, and the windows versions does have a standard bay

Just had a quick look and answered my question, will take a hard drive but not sure if you can boot from it. This leads me to believe that yes the eMMC is soldered on elsewhere but there is still an additional Bay to connect another. Will come down to whether the bios supports.

Seriously considering one of these now as a Linux machine, but I already have so many old ones, and I don't need another project

  • Damn. I really needed the SSD model for uni. Damn impulse buyers without a great need for it. :(

    • +2

U can get the dell here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/264444

Although $130 more its brand new from dell, is a pentium and can remove ssd and upgrade ram

      • Apparently it's an uncomfortable typing experience, compared to the Lenovo. :(

Man look how thick this notebook is - That's Ghetto!

  • It's New never used but says Resealed?

It's Grey's and they only offer 3 month warranty. I wouldn't trust them.

  • Can this Chromebook install apps from Google store?

  • Both out of stock now. Wanted a chromebook too!

    • I've bought one hoping I can put windows onto it but may not be possible. Can have mine for cost price if I cant find a way if your still interested in one in a few days.

  • i just received mine(one each) the screens are neither Touch nor IPS. extremely unhappy as i thought i could use android apps on chrome.

did anyone get it with a IPS and touch screen?

    • +1

I got the Windows one and yes I'm disappointment with non touch / IPS.

      • I am actually disappointed and going to open a dispute

        • I think that's a good idea

    • +2

Ebay just contacted me and offered a $50 refund because it was falsely advertised. Look out for a call from an unknown number

  • No touch screen here either. Please advise what Grays response is. I'm waiting for a response to clarify the new / 3 month warranty issue.

    • Mine were definitely brand new but non touch and non Ips. A rep replied today that they are investigating the matter and will get back to me shortly.

      • Let us know how you go. I've also asked them what they are going to do about the screen issue.

    • +5

They gave me a $50 refund or I could return the product for 100% refund. I'm happy for a $118 non-touch laptop :)

      • +2

$60 refunded on the Windows version. Good outcome, well played Gray's!

        • Same, just received my $60 refund.

  • They are not responding to my messages at all

    • +1

Maybe try customer service number 1300 362 536

  • is anyone unhappy with the screen and want to sell, I am happy to buy locally (Melbourne, windows version), please PM me, thanks
