Logitech G920 (XB1 & PC) - $398, G29 (PS3 & PS4) $398 with Bonuses @ Harvey Norman

50

Same deal as last week which ended on Father's Day. Confirmed with live chat this one ends September 30.

The G920 wheel comes with a bonus shifter and Forza Horizon 3 pre order. I picked one up last week as it seemed to be a good deal with Forza, you save over $250 off RRP (if you include Forza at its $88 HN price, cheaper elsewhere).

This time there's also the G29 with a bonus shifter (no game) but still decent value.

Spend an extra hunjee and get a T300RS people. They're available from EB again as of late and are a real simulation wheel, these are toy like in comparison.

(I have owned 3 G29's and after the third breakdown I decided to refund and buy a T500RS, infinitely better and the 300 is apparently every bit as good)

I looked at the TX for XB1 before I bought this but I really wanted a clutch and shifter. I'll admit I wouldn't have paid retail for the G920 + shifter but for $398 including Forza (which I was gonna buy anyway) I figured it was worth it for a bit of fun. Guess it depends how into it you are :)

Just an FYI if youre not interested in the game G29 and G920 are both $329 at MSY but it ends today I think

    • I just had a look at MSY and it is advertised as $329 but when you had it to cart it is $345? Would have probably bought it otherwise

      • ah maybe it ran out already cause the original price is $349

Just as another FYI PLE are also throwing in a shifter for $349

  • Been really tempted to pick up this G920 since its been on sale since last week. Haven't bit the bullet yet

  • If only the t300rs was sub $400 in the $300 range I would have bit the bullet.Anyone know of any discount that can get the t300rs to below $400.

    • Have any friends work in EB? 20% employee discount brings it down to $399

  • Support a local company instead of Gerry.
    The Gamesmen: https://www.gamesmen.com.au/feature/f1-2016-racing-bundle
F1 2016 or Assetto Corsa bundle.

  • I've seen these and always flirted with wanting one, but always wondered how they mount up without a dedicated bucket seat setup. Would these just rest on your lap and flop around?

    • +1

They can't rest on your lap. They need to be fixed to something.

You can buy a metal stand for $100+ or you can use a coffee table. The bucket seat is optional.

      • Just saw this one http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lynbrook/console-accessories/… looks like a good setup.

Still sore that I missed out on that cheap as chips G27 from DS all those years ago…

        • Consider yourself lucky, many G25/G27 have optical encoder wheel problems which makes the centering of the steering wheel go off centre gradually, whilst playing. Logitech saved a few dollars by using cheap plastic. An aftermarket brass encoder wheel replacement is available but costs about $50 each, and installing it is a bit of a pain because you've got to remove a lot of bits and pieces before you get to it.

        • I saw those but thought the centre rod might interfere with left-foot braking.

I picked up a GT Omega instead. Feels very sturdy. I've put about 200 hours into it already (Gran Turismo) and no complaints.

They mount on a table and you sit at the table. I suppose that's a little harder for consoles than PC, but that's what you do either way.

    • Ah ok.. that sounds a bit more stable. I watched the video review on the HN website and the guy looked like he had it on his lap…

Gamesmen are selling a bundle with wheel, shifter, and one game for $399. I picked up the G29 with F1 2016.

I wish I'd taken the plunge years ago. Racing games with a wheel are infinitely better.

    • Agree. Racing games needs to have a wheel

  • How does this compare to the Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition?

    • Read first comment, TX is a 300RS for Xbox.

The G29 works with PC aswell.

  • If you live near Computer Alliance in Brisbane, they are selling them for $329 and $59 for shifter. Also Umart have them for $345.

  • Pretty sure I saw a sign in JB the other day with both of them for $399 with a shifter and either Assetto Corsa or F1 2016, so that's going to be a better deal for PS4 owners.

  • if only the pre-order forza horizon 3 was xbox anywhere :(

Picked up one of these today came with a Shifter and a Copy of Forza for $398. Hooked it up, and it works not bad on the Xbox… probably be better if I organise a desk or something to attach it to. Havent tried the New Forza yet, as I just started 6.

    cheers

    • You've already got Forza 3?

      • +1

Yes, I had it early, they let me take it home as long as I promised not to activate it before the release date , because the store was 160km away from home.

Ended up getting a new desk too, and then a new headset… Steering wheel and pedals works great once attached securely.

I cant believe the difference between a GOOD wheel and the cheap ones….

So much more accurate etc…. worth the money if you like driving.

        cheers

        • That's awesome. I've only had a chance to use my wheel a couple of times but so far very impressed. For $398 it was definitely worth it!

  • Still tossing up between this and the "Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition" from the other deal. Leaning more towards this one as a complete, beginner's race sim setup. Really like the idea of a clutch pedal and H-pattern 6 speed shifter. Also a progressive brake pedal which the TX set doesn't come with.

Been looking aroudn for a stand and found this one on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Racing-Simulator-Steering-Wheel-S… looks good, anyone have experience with this?

    • I was looking at either a racing seat or the stand you linked. Decided I didn't want to spend too much as I wasn't sure if it'd get used a whole lot. Ended up buying one of these from OW - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/kallis-stud…

It actually fits perfectly and it's pretty sturdy. Been using it quite a bit so will probably upgrade the stand eventually but it's good enough for now :)
