Not a fan of the switch but this hits.
    I loved my cube

  • +33

Great controller. But where’s the bargain? Yet another RRP post. This time $99.90 for a controller delivered PLUS requires a subscription to be worthy of purchasing. I see no bargain here at all.

      • +6

Yeah crazy of me to want bargains to be posted on bargain website. I must be insane for thinking such things.

    • +1

PLUS requires a subscription to be worthy of purchasing.

seriously?? didn't see that in the post. that sucks. 🥵

oh mb it's in the title..

    • +1

It is RRP, this is Ozb, but to honest I was happy to be notified here that it is available (I know that's not the purpose of this site).

RE: The online subscription requirement, yes, it is annoying, but also the controller is made to be used with the Switch 2 Gamecube software which is only available with a paid subscription anyway. So, it does make sense, prevents potential scalping etc I guess. Even if you have a subscription, you can only order ONE controller, so I guess quantites are limited.

  • +8

    What's the bargain?

    • +1

There isn’t one. This is just pre order at RRP.

  • -5

Oh look, another recycled product from the scummy company.

    Rrp, no deal.

  • +1

What's wrong with the Pro-controller for $69 (with $10 signup) from Target?
Don't see myself needing to upgrade.

    RRP fomo deals ha

    • +1

I'll do you one better on the "Don't see myself needing to upgrade" side, in the first few years when I still played Switch, I used a USB adapter to make my Wii U Pro Controller work on the bugger. Loved it. Still have the controller somewhere, gave the adapter to someone on OzB 6 or 7 years back though. Might pickup another one for Switch 2 lol.

      • +1

Good work. I only just got the switch extremely cheap last year (and barely use it) so won't be a slave to the upgrades yet).

        • I gone mine 2 years back for under $300 second hand. With all the things to play, I'll get a Switch 3. Or whatever new crazy non-backwards-compatible console they think of next.

It's always evolution > revolution with these guys. And every "revolution" doesn't care about backwards compatibility.

  • Thanks for sharing OP, my husband is chasing this one!

  • Is there a purchase limit?

    • Lol, of course

    • -1

Most likely 2 max per person based on previous releases.

      • It'd be four in this case, the only one limited to two was Sega mega drive ones as far as I can remember.

      • Yes the power a one works too

      • +1

I felt like during the direct it mentioned it was limited to 1 this time.

        • FK that I want to play four players simultaneously all with cube controllers.

        • Yes, correct, limit 1 per Nintendo online account (at least for now).

          • @A 1: Thanks. Yeah i watched the direct again and it definitely said that 1 per customer in the small print at the bottom.

Can't see it on the webpage though.

Need to find something else to buy instead of paying shipping.

            • @kulprit:

Can't see it on the webpage though.

They'll probably add the purchase limit to the website once it becomes available to order I guess. Hopefully they eventually lift the purchase limit in the future, as they have done with the other controllers (although none are unlimited, yet).

    • 1 Per Customer…

  • +16

Maybe ozbargain needs a pre order section

    • +1

A section just for adverts. Movies/tv shows coming out and full price items can just go there. Ozsansbargain.com.au

    • I think we're kind of at the happy medium now, which is really that you can post an RRP post and if there are enough fans of the product, maybe, just maybe, it'll begrudgingly remain in existence because it still remains as information involved with obtaining said product

I personally use these RRP posts as news of a products existence / that there are options to purchase said product, but of course, we couldn't just have a section for that because it would immediately be far far too polluted with filler.

      • I personally use these RRP posts as news of a products existence

Why stop there. Let's start posting news articles too so people know what world events are happening. Let's just make Ozbargain a Reddit clone…for some reason.

        • Wait What? The Pope is dead? But how… and when?

      • Should just be a forum section

  • These will sell out immediately

  • Mario kart $80 usd lol

    • At least it's an actual new mario kart this time.

    • This isn't USbargains.com.

  • +1

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/pll-powera-gamecube-style-contr…

This one is cheaper and can be used with all switch games.

    • Does anyone know - will this work with switch 2?

      • +1

Yes, switch 2 has button mapping if required

        • Thanks!!

  • +14

I went to Specsavers, OPSM & Oscar Wylee to check my eyes but I still can't see the bargain here

  • Interesting. Free shipping used to kick in at $80, I wonder why they adjusted that to $100?

    • Because they know people will buy it anyway.

  • +6

    FYI.

This only works with GameCube games. Will not work for Switch games.

    • +4

      That is freaking ridiculous.

And I thought Sony had lost their minds.

We are all becoming victims of corporate insanity

    • Nintendo has just clarified this controller will work with other games on Switch 2, but it doesn't have all the required buttons for some games so there "will be issues". So, I guess it's mostly compatible, we will see.

      Source https://www.gamesradar.com/hardware/nintendo-corrects-itself…

  • +1

Sorry, have to neg for RRP post. It's unlikely these are limited edition product which will sold out due to high demand.

    • You're right, they won't be limited edition as such, but they will likely be OOS for weeks or possibly longer after launch. The N64 version was OOS for a long time.

I'm not saying it's a deal but for those who want it, youve just go to buy it, unlikely to ever really go on special.

  • Do the previously released smash bros GC controllers still work in the usb hub on switch 2?

    • +1

      They have confirmed they do

      • Sweet, thanks. Glad I've got two and a wavebird then! Not that I pay for Nintendo online… 😁

  • Anyone know if we can use this on PC with Dolphin? Or even a Wii U emulator for WW HD?

    • +1

It's Bluetooth, of course it will.

      • a comment above says "FYI This only works with GameCube games".

confused. if it's bluetooth can I connect it to iPad and play iPad games??

        • Nintendo has now confirmed it will work with other games but may not have all the required buttons to be fully compatible.

          • @A 1: huh that's a "maybe" to me. I think I will pass.

need to pay subscription to buy anyway.. I was hoping to buy when it went on sale for half price, but looks like that will never happen if it's pay walled.

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah, that's fair enough.

Half price? You do realise we're talking about Nintendo here? :-) They'll never discount their hardware by that much, if you want something that much cheaper you'd have to go third party.

              • @A 1:

They'll never discount their hardware by that much,

maybe not but amazon usually will. 🙏

also maybe you missed my comment further up, but in the beginning I missed the "subscription required" and thought it would be sold at all the big stores. didn't realise it was a 1 per person Nintendo store exclusive product. .😭

                • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm:

didn't realise it was a 1 per person Nintendo store exclusive product. .😭

Yep, that's the issue in a nutshell right there!

    • +1

Heads up you need to give a reason otherwise mods will revoke your vote. I’d quickly expand on your reasoning if I was you.

  • +6

$90 for a controller and requires subscription as well? LOL
Is it 1st of April again?

  • So they've basically made a single purpose, extremely expensive probably non-hall effect controller for almost $100.

Compare the level of tech a PS5 controller or a decent 8bitdo one would have for $60-80.

    What a joke.

    • +1

But she's got a new hat!

  • RRP hidden behind a paywall.
No Nintendo, this isn't a bargain.

  • +1

to me that is a rip off for something i used get for $40 new, even the 1st Party wii u version used to sell for $50 New

  • Risk getting a sub to preorder but it would likely be sold out in seconds. If they are still selling the others, I guess I would wait it out.

  • +2

I feel like they should make a different section on this website for items that aren't necessarily deals/bargains but open preorders etc…
because I like to see the preorders prior to them running out of stock but I understand they are not necessarily deals and are priced at RRP.

  • +2

RRP+shipping, this is not a bargain post

  • -1

This is just pure nostalgia purchase. Not very practical

  • -1

RRP plus shipping or a subscription is not a bargain, nor is the manufactured scarcity nintendo likes to induce to get people pre-ordering these sorts of things

  • Just giving this deal a bump, since pre-orders should open in about 3 hours from now.

Also, has anyone seen confirmation that this controller has analogue shoulder buttons? I'm hoping so, since several gamecube games require the function, but it is Nintendo, so who knows? I've done a search online but couldn't confirm it anywhere.

  • My Nintendo Store down for maintenance with <5min left until pre-orders opens.

    • 6PM AEST now and still down for maintenance…

  • +2

Limit 1 per customer, so have to pay shipping…

    • +1

Other countries got allowed to order 2. Very annoying.

      • +4

I was hoping to pick up 2 to avoid shipping.

Can't even access the site now, 504 Gateway Time-out.

        • +1

I was hoping to get 2 also and avoid pointless shipping cost but alas

  • +4

    504 Gateway lol

    Such a garbage set up

Maintenance till 6:01 also so can’t pre log in etc

I don’t want to give Nintendo money but the morons will make about 5 controllers and they’ll become $300

    Sign in error now

    • What's the point of the maintenance when their site is still crashing…

Also doesn't help that their Switch 2 Registration Selection email also went out at 6pm.

      • +2

That one gave me a chuckle as I already pre ordered it via eb and a week or so later get an email about registering my interest in pre ordering a switch 2….

        Bit late don’t you think?

Site down for maintenance again, I give up for now

        • +1

Same here, also made a pre-order at EB Games.

Also pre-registered at Nintendo, just encase it was required for the controller (which is why I know that the registration email went out at 6pm…)

        • +1

Soooo late, it was ridiculous, I couldn't believe it.

The site is totally cooked now, I've been trying to buy for 2 hours now.

          • +1

@A 1: Yeah I checked in for a moment just now and about an hour ago and still nothing… absolute joke. It’s a god damn controller ffs

            • +1

@JMxoxo: It cause Switch 2 pre-orders also opened at the same time…

  • +5

    Welp maintenance again…

    • +1

      And again…

      • +2

Yep was back briefly, but kept 504 Gateway Erroring.

        Now back to maintenance again..

  • +2

My Nintendo Store is currently down for unscheduled maintenance. We apologise for the inconvenience, and will provide an update when maintenance is complete.

  • +1

    Alright done.

Website is running quickly now. Should be good to grab one now for those still waiting to refresh.

  • Does anyone know why add to cart button is still grey even I have just joined the free 7 day membership trail?
    Thanks!

    • +2
