    VGA Camera

Why would you advertise that? Potatoes take higher resolution.

potatoes? u tht spud shed dude?

    • +3

It's a camera. May not be great for capturing holiday memories but adequate for taking a license plate or something else you need to "remember" but not necessarily immortalise.

        yeah! like bargains!

        Like UFO/BigFoot/LochNess sightings

Yet people take photos on their $1000 phones with 10+ megapixels only to upload it to a Instagram…

I'd say the Potato cam is fine, you can probably even upsell it and say it gives your photos the cool year 2000 flip phone pixel effect.

        I'm sure there's a Photoshop filter for that effect…

  • $10 Standard Credit can be used for Australian calls, SMS or data. Nothing else.

      • Not for this SIM.

    nice burner phone

    • Does anyone here actually need a burner phone?

      • +2

When you're burned, you've got nothing: no cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in.

        • That is not what a burner phone is.

'burners are different from prepaid phones in that they are used specifically for one purpose and then disposed….Burner phones came to fame with the television show “The Wire,” when drug dealers used the phones to communicate.'

I imagine most Ozbargainers aren't drug dealers!

@syousef: Wow, I'll bet that reference didn't even ruffle your feathers as it went over your head…

        • @StewBalls:

Ahhh Burn Notice. Watched a few eps of that years ago now…okay gotchya.

I just want to know what the heck Ozbargainers do with a burner?

        • +2

@syousef: I suspect they'll be crammed into drawers already stuffed with Eneloops…

…plus, a true 'burner' is harder to get in Australia due to our documentation requirements, every time I've bought a prepaid phone I've had to provide ID, I can't see this being any different.

        • @StewBalls:

I already have a Telstra T95 that I overpaid for ($15) and have no idea what to do with. I got it thinking external aerial might be cool but honestly I don't go anywhere that requires that.

          True about the Id.

        • @syousef: I'm in the market for a new phone, my trusty Lumia 920 took a dive the other day, now it's got a lovely crack with a razor sharp raised edge running across the screen…sucker still works though.

I'm just waiting for something within my ~$200 enforced budget to pop up…although I could buy one of these & put my work SIM in it, then unlock my work phone to use my Jeenee SIM…hmm, that might be a bit shonky even for me! ;)

  • Can this phone be unlocked?

    • +2

The burning question is whether any carrier would ever bother locking it in the first place…

  • Anyone know if this is still available? Thanks

    • +1

      I believe so!

    • Can confirm this is still on. Picked up two today. Stock a little hard to find though. First BP I went to was sold out.

  • Bit of a random question, but does anyone know if these can be used without a sim? I'm thinking about picking up a couple as cheap mp3 players for the kids, but I remember my old Sony Ericsson W705 was unusable without a sim card. Hoping these aren't in the same boat.

    Cheers

    • Used to use my phone for the FM radio and earplugs whilst work in dull moments…..the extremely long battery life meant I had hours and hours of use before taking home to recharge.
Now unmetered Spotify on Optus plans means o constantly carry around a power bank and still doesn't last the shift.

  • Can confirm the $10 credit has 14 day expiry.
